Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    BBMA did fantastic!

  • Steph

    BBMA ratings are good, but the show itself was horrific. If this is what music has become I’ll pass.

  • j

    BBMA approximately = Idol grand finale. Hmm.

  • Michael

    Wow, at the BMA! It was definitely a star-studded night with legends: Celine Dion, Madonna, and Prince!

  • Raul

    Go ABC!

  • forg

    AFHV did good as well, more years to come I guess ;)

  • Anon

    I guess there finally is a point where there are too many country music shows. And this one didn’t even have any “awards” to hand out.

  • TimsDale4ever

    I guess McGraw’s superstar Sunday wasn’t so super.

  • TV Viewer

    The ratings of the series finale of the Cleveland Show certainly proved that Fox was justifed in cancelling it.

  • Daw Johnson

    I’d actually consider the Tim McGraw ratings to be pretty super given the direct competition from a big music event.

    I wouldn’t have been shocked if its ratings were HALF of what it ended up getting.

  • Keith

    LMAO!!! The finale of AFHV beat the finale of Revenge. ABC must be so proud of their smash hit, Revenge!

  • JONNYSBRO

    The celebrity apprentice did terrible for a finale. It seems the all star thing bombed I wonder if celebrity apprentice might be pushed as a summer show next year. It’s ratings don’t justify it Getting its regular times lot.

  • Chris

    WTF happened to 60 Minutes that show usually dominates on Sundays, it could’nt even win their hours last night.

  • Dan S

    Do we know yet if Trumps CA has officially been renewed yet ? It’s not on the midseason schedule so if it returns it might be summer filler.

  • Andrew

    I’m surprised the Billboard Awards got that many viewers. I heard the show was awful, so I’m glad I didn’t watch it. I did like the quote Kid Rock said as he was presenting best rap song “Let’s give it up for people lip-syncing under pre-recorded music”. The best moment of the night. This show is basically for Bieber fans and people who listen to auto-tune dance music. It’s sad that people watch this and think all new music sounds like this. There is a lot good new music coming from the alternative and indie genres and other genres that aren’t Top 40.

  • Ram510

    Good for ABC! They don’t have football or many award shows or Olympics to help boost ratings, so I’m glad they had a good night last night

  • Pavelsauce

    Will there be a poll for the series finale of RoE?

  • Max Vrany

    @Chris, it didn’t have a sports lead-in in the Eastern/Central timezones.

  • cc

    “BBMA approximately = Idol grand finale. Hmm.”

    Exactly what I was thinking.

    @Andrew

    Good post, I agree. The only thing, what was presented on BBMA is anything but music.

  • Andrew

    @TV Viewer

    The 7:00 and 7:30 slot has historically been bad for Fox for anything non-Simpsons/Family Guy/sports they put in it. If Bob’s Burgers had spent the whole season at 7:30 it probably would have gotten a 1.1 for the finale. Cleveland Show numbers on Adult Swim for encores are almost equal to CS numbers for originals on Fox. Cleveland Show could have a continued life on Adult Swim if they strike a deal with Seth McFarlane for new episodes. Otherwise the encores will live on for at least several years on Adult Swim. On another note, I didn’t realize the 7:00 episode was also new, I don’t think my DVR caught it.
