If you add in the lower expectations on a Friday slot, if it can hold at 9-10 million, and a 1.3-1.8 18-49, I would say it’d get renewed.

  • catsrule

I liked The Goodwin Games a lot better than Ben and Kate and The Mindy Project. It deserved more than a summer burn-off. Yes it did poorly but what do you expect with it premiering on the half hour against the DWTS and Voice Monday finales and being stuck with an 0.7 lead-in? shouldn’t have been cancelled before it even premiered :/

    @ The End

It sounds realistic. The Show will fall in the demo but it can hold its viewership. CSI: NY had 12 million viewers on Wednesday and it fell to 10.5 million on Friday. Hawaii Five-0 with 9 million will probably be around 8-9 million all season.
I bet it will get two more seasons.

    CBS viewer,

CSI NY was geting better numbers than Hawaii before being moved to Fridays. Why would Hawaii get the same numbers than NY on Friday?
A strong fanbase? Where is that strong fanbase? because they are not watching the show. See the numbers.
A show that is not even able to get nominated in the PCA, and that gets such low numbers, has a very small fanbase.

    The End,

Numbers are awful and that is why CBS downgraded the show to Fridays. Or do you think the move is a reward because of the great numbers?
“Stop talking please” = Stop being abusive please.

I agree, the show has a few seasons at most of life left in it. Like with Elementary I think it’l hit 5 seasons and be canceled. Barring any kind of collapse on Friday, the next renewal once Season 4 has finished airing next year should be its last.

It’l never get The Good Wife treatment lol

@ Paul. Don’t hold your breathe on Revolutions ratings on Wednesday. It will be the new “smash”. With a great start, it just fizzled the rest of the season. next year agaist Nashville and CSI, it will put NBC back in the attic. In time they will move it to Saturdays, where it will die a slow death. The show just lacks something. It just did not click with me, and i’m a fan of these types of shows. Well at least im looking foward to The Revelations” next season on ABC. I/m hoping they can do what NBC failed at.

  • The End

@Numbers are awful and that is why CBS downgraded the show to Fridays

These numbers, specifically the finale numbers are NOT awful though. The show was moved to Friday because it hasn’t been rating fantastically on its current slot.

    @Stop being abusive please.

Abusive? what? It was my way of politely informing you that you have no idea what you’re talking about.

    @ Grace

Hawaii Five-0 was hurt by Revolution in the fall that’s why it lost a big part of its audience. Look at DVR numbers. On Friday it will have Undercover Boss as lead-in. Grimm and Shark Tank probably don’t share the same viewers as Hawaii Five-0.

  • The End

Judging by her comments, she seems to be a hater of this show. Seemingly unaware that Blue Bloods isn’t doing fantastically on Fridays either, and ended rather mediocrely ratings wise.

Strange how a lot of CBS shows are having lacklustre season finale numbers lately. Elementary, Person of Interest, Hawaii 5-o and a few others. Hawaii 5-o was the only one that actually gained viewers for its finale, the rest lost a chunk of their audience out of the blue really.

  • Diana

Amazing how ridiculous the Hawaii Five-0 season finale was. Nothing was slighlty convincing. I think the 2 demo was too good. Honey Boo Boo is a better show.

  • Amy

The only thing I liked about The Goodwin Games is Becki Newton. I hope she finds the right project.

  • The End

@Honey Boo Boo is a better show.

    That’s a joke right?

  • Brett

Motive is already a sizeable hit in Canada and has been renewed for a second season up north. What would the ratings need to stabilize at to ensure ABC airs season 2 next summer?

  • Britney

CSI NY was a franchise show and that’s why it did as well as it did (if you can call it that) as long as it did and it still did not do as well as BB did. It is unrealistic to think that H50 will do any better. Heck, BB had a 1.1 for its season finale and you really think H50 is going to do better than that? I don’t think so.

  • CBSviewer

    @ The End

That’s right. Hawaii Five-0 gained 1.14 million (From 7.86 million to 9 million) and went up 0.2 in demo without a “real” lead-in. I think it will rate OK on Friday and maybe help Blue Bloods which lost several tenths since CSI: NY finale.

  • The End

Also, I think what didn’t help CSI NY besides the numbers was the cost of the show, it was expensive and in its Ninth season, a much more expensive production than Hawaii 5-o. Typically it needed to rate a bit higher to even stand a chance at renewal.

Hawaii 5-o and Blue Bloods Fridays on CBS doesn’t actually sound too bad, it won’t be a combo used for long, but to help each other get one final season would be kinda nice for the fans of either show.

Over the next few years, we’l be hearing cancelation news of Blue Bloods, The Good Wife, Hawaii 5-o and a few others, and to be honest I think 5-6 seasons is a good number for any show.

Although the show wasn’t a sizable hit in Canada(1 million viewers..). The show had a weak premiere and should it not hold these Nielsen viewers, I don’t think it’l come back personally. But that being said, it’l depend on how well the rest of the season does, and how cheaply ABC can get the show for.

  • Mon

Hawaii Five-0 and The Good Wife have at least two seasons in it because there is NO WAY CBS would choose to renew The Mentalist and Blue Bloods over them unless both collapse real hard next season to 1.0s then CBS would have bloothbath of veteran shows.

  • catsrule

@CBSviewer: That’s right. Hawaii Five-0 gained 1.14 million (From 7.86 million to 9 million) and went up 0.2 in demo without a “real” lead-in

It only went up because Castle was preempted. And barely hitting a 2 is still low compared to what it used to get.

  • The End

@Hawaii Five-0 and The Good Wife have at least two seasons in it

I disagree, I would say at most they have two seasons. In 3 years time I don’t expect to see Hawaii Five-O, The Good Wife, Blue Bloods, The Mentalist on the CBS schedule.

Hawaii Five-O has had a fairly bad season ratings wise, these finale numbers are actually good, not just from a ratings standpoint, but when you look back at this season and see how well it did on a whole.

  • CBSviewer

    @ The End

CBS will probably cancel one of The Mentalist or The Good Wife (maybe both) and replace them by underperforming Shows. Hawaii Five-0 and Blue Bloods are 100% certain to be Renewed for a 5th Season. Maybe Hawaii will get a shortened sixth season to wrap things up which will be hard for the writers because it took twelve seasons for the Original Show.

As you said both Show will be good paired together and with Undercover Boss in the Fall Friday will maybe rate a bit higher than this season. It was smart not to premiere a new drama on Friday.
