ABC is the No. 1 Network in May on Monday-Friday from 10-11pm in Key Adults

2013 May Sweep (4/25-5/22/13 – 28 Nights Complete – Live + Same Day)

ABC ranked No. 1 for the 2013 May Sweep in Adults 18-49 (1.8/5 – tied with CBS and Fox), while leading NBC by 6% (1.7/5).  It was the Network’s first No. 1 finish during May in 13 years – since 2000.  ABC also led the month across all key Women demographics: W18-34 (1.7/6-tie), W18-49 (2.3/7) and W25-54 (3.0/7).

  • ABC Dramas Dominate the May Sweep: With Thursday’s combo of “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal,” ABC delivered 6 of the Top 10 drama telecasts during the May Sweep in Adults 18-49: “Scandal-5/16” and “Scandal-5/9” tied at No. 2, “Grey’s-5/9” and “Grey’s-5/16” tied at No. 4, “Grey’s-5/2” – No. 8 and “Scandal-4/25” – No. 9.  Dominating at 10:00 p.m., the Net aired each of the Top 7 highest rated 10 o’clock drama telecasts for the month in Adults 18-49, with “Scandal” claiming the Top 4 positions and “Castle” claiming the next 3 positions.

  • Highest-Rated Series of the Month: ABC claimed 3 of the Top 10 TV shows during May in Adults 18-49 with “Modern Family” (No. 4), “Grey’s Anatomy” (No. 8) and “Scandal” (No. 9).  In fact “Scandal” was the month’s No. 1 10 o’clock series in Adults 18-49.  ABC’s “DWTS” was the most-watched unscripted series overall, outdrawing both installments of Fox’s “American Idol” and NBC’s “The Voice.”

  • ABC is the Only Net to Improve its Local News Lead-in Audience and Ranks No. 1 in Key Adults: ABC was the only net to grow its overall audience year to year from 10:00-11:00 p.m. on Monday-Friday as a lead-in to affiliates’ late-local news, gaining 4% over last May’s average (7.9 million vs. 7.6 million).  CBS and NBC were both down in the hour year to year.  In addition, ABC stood as the No. 1 network during the month on Monday-Friday from 10:00-11:00 p.m. in Adults 18-49 (2.0/6) and Adults 25-54 (2.6/7), beating CBS (1.7/5 and 2.4/6) and NBC (1.5/4 and 1.9/5).

Really milking Scandal’s ratings there, aren’t ya, ABC?
Scandal, following most shows, will loose it’s new-found buzz. It might get the buzz next year as well, until a more buzz worthy, non-outdated show comes along. Super Fun Night? S.H.I.E.L.D? Anything, really. I have nothing against Scandal – not a good show though. Tried a few season 1 episodes, boring – but the buzz came from killing the president, right? They can’t kill the president every season now, can they? Maybe, they can figure out new plot lines to keep the show as interesting as possible so it can continue to grow but I doubt it. All shows get stale. Scandal actually started our stale. And pretty soon, it will go back to being stale.

    Glue,

You obviously don’t know a thing about what you are saying. The President never died, he got shot and this storyline was finished after Episode 14 or so. The 8 episodes after that did great, two of them even got a new series high.

    Take your hatin’ somewhere else.

Scandal has gained quite a following and I expect more people to get into it over the summer. There is no reason to believe the show will lose the “buzz” unless the storylines start to suck…Shonda won’t let that happen!

‘CASTLE’ has done extraordinary lately in the ratings. Remains the most watched program at the 10 PM time slot on Monday nights. This program also does quite well for the TNT network where they show the past season’s repeats. WAY TO GO CASTLE!!

Love Scandal and glad it is doing so well in the ratings. Outstanding cast with a fast-paced dialogue that keeps you glued. I have not seen any show like it before on TV. The chemistry between Olivia and Fitz is off the charts hot. I hope it continues to grab viewers.

Castle is probablythe best written and acted series on television for many years. the entir cast is supurb but of course the team of Beckett and Castle are unique l Katic and Fillion are todays Tracy and Heburn or Myrna Loy and William Powell. W ith this chemistry and writing this show gets better and beter. Could go on for years if all the cast stay together

The writing, acting and directing on Scandal is exquisite, unpredictable, fast-moving and also gives us a closer look at current (plausible) topics. It’s one of the best television shows ever — in the league with Breaking Bad and Homeland. When people work that hard to create something beautiful, they should be recognized. What they do requires hard work. It’s hard to wait — to go without a favorite show — but no way could they keep up that pace year ’round (dang it). Just have to be adults, be patient, and take it as a sign of how much I love this show.
