    And GH continues to tank…

  • lampshade

DOOL has overtaken GH in key 18-49 demo and closing gap in viewers. I still think the show has weak points but there is no denying they have got some things right. As a long time viewer I am very pleased. Nice to see BB up again, as unbelievable as Brooke being pregnant AGAIN with another in-law it has made good viewing. I like Don Diamont as Bill. I only catch YR when I have the time but am enjoying Lauren/Carmine (soo hot)/Michael. Love Michelle Stafford as Phyllis and would rather see character leave instead of someone like Robin Christopher take on the role who I don’t much care for.

Bold & Beautiful up BIG year-to-year-to-year.

  • Harlee

Days is creeping into 3rd place quietly, but hey Days has had a great sweeps month, stories a peaking nicely and mostly very entertaining. I’m loving this new JJ long overdue, hate Dannifer but JJ should been the one inserted in Dannifer mess the first time around to create the drama not Chloe or Nicole..ahh my Nicole AZ ROCKS!

The winner is always B&B in growth, no soap can touch in growth area…B&B I’ve been enjoying for the most part. Some doesn’t care about Brooke being pregnant but I do and KKL is front & center. HT, always amazing, loving Caroline 2.0, Rick & Maya, add some RPG to mix…HOT DAMN!

Y&R is up in total viewers but eroded the demo positive ratings they had, simply because the short sighted top dogs from CBS, YR, Sony banked on the ratings up for anniversary show…which they was to then promote Steve Burton thinking this is “How” we will let the fans “enjoy” Dylan(Ken) & Avery(Cupcake Barbie)….WRONG! April was a true disaster and boring. Now, the last 3 weeks have been much better balance with vets not “rammed down the throats” of the viewers of the Steve Burton show. YR has been very good accept those damn Tuesday episodes and a egg is laid, boring. YR is in a good spot and with most stories, Chloe & Kevin get rid of them, useless and been ruined. Loving the diversity again w\Leslie & Tyler, Winters! What is golden is Phack the sleeper couple…is pay dirt with MS & PB..this paternity IF Josh plays the beats and goes there take the chance and not play it safe and makes Jack the bio dad…the aftermath will drive story for years…new day of Abbotts vs Newmans, lining them in position and what great soap it would bring….this gets back to Phyllis…ugh…no MS….we just got to have Phyllis on canvas because this is a Phyllis storyline, & Jack, Nick & Summer each…aftermath is the people affected by this huge blow up!

    Yay Y&R and B&B especially B&B!!!!!
DAYS is getting close to 3rd place. Come on DAYS!

  • Mike

So glad to see my two shows B&B and Y&R grow. Really impressed with how much B&B is up from last year in total viewers.

I don’t watch it but nice to see Days up some too. Good job.

  • Bex

Go Y&R, loving the past two weeks with the Michael/Lauren drama.

Bex….looking at those dailies for B&B and Y&R I am impressed that for the most part they are consistent daily numbers.

Looking at the overall numbers B&B is doing well in Total Viewers but B&B is really skewing old again though. They had been increasing their demos but they have not been doing as well there. They really need to improve that.

  • Mike

Oh and one more thing I wanted to comment on … meant to last week but forgot.

This new schedule for AMC and OLTL from Prospect Park I think shows again the emphasis on how important live viewing or short term viewing still is. Prospect Park focused on the binge viewing in part of their reasons for changing the schedule in hopes to get people to watch the programs as they were posted. The ad revenue they receive is higher the sooner the program is watched is what has posted often.

So even in online viewing and programs the quicker you watch a show is still what is important. You can add all the ratings you want to a program later but in the end they don’t help the program where it needs help the most.

  • PatF

Y and R is having a good sweeps month. And it nice to see it paying off with an increase in total viewers over last week and over last year.

The formula that works is of course having the veteran characters on the screen. I think that balance of Jill’s new faces (yuck) and the ones the viewers love is more balanced the last couple of weeks.

Plus now we have the paternity story starting up, which will be a good one.

Still though all soaps are up over last year, which is still good news.

  • cc

Hate to see GH lose ratings, but even I have to admit it’s been hard to watch the past week or so. This week seemed to get back on track, hope it shows in the ratings.

Days, pfft. Kill Sami, watch the ratings soar.

  • jaydawg

@ cc u are right GH has been terrible for da past two weeks, da stupid relish story with da chew ugh! get rid of connie once and for all! this whole new story with michael easton sux. i cant believe its hard to watch GH these days..Its boring, come on bring on romance..enough of this stupid relish storyline and steven clay mess..this sux bring back my GH!!

  • Mike

Wow just saw where Prospect Park has fired the head writers of both shows and replaced them.

Prospect Park just seems to be making rash decisions. A month into the project they fire the head writers, change the schedule, and reduce the number of episodes.

For those who feared these might hurt the ratings of the network shows, I have a feeling we aren’t going to have to worry about that.

My biggest concern over it all is that many felt this was the future of soaps. I think Prospect Park’s handling of this situation is going to set that back at this point.

  • Harlee

I read about the big changes happening with PP’s soaps and the writing change. It needed to happen, I stopped watching all together. Never got into OLTL at all after the first episode. I did watch AMC up until a week ago not on my must list.

If a network (CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX) would actually launch or relaunch a 30 minute M-F soap I think all would be surprised because I believe another soap could be successful once again in daytime.

  • PatF

    I do too, harlee.

I think CBS obviously would have the best shot, but I don’t know what they’d give up since their lineup is pretty strong.

I’d like to see the other two networks that currently have a soap try it.

  • PatF

People criticize B and B and it’s storytelling. But it’s amazing how on some days it’s only .8 behind Y and R.

I remember when Y and R was always at least 1.0 or better.

So their formula is working for CBS viewers, and truthfully the show looks so much better than any of the network shows right now.

    And I’m huge Y and R fan.

  • moshane58

Hate to see GH down.Seems like its been good.Good to see the others are doing well.Seems like people are mad over three OLTL stars going on GH.All they want is full time jobs.Prospect Park hasn’t giving anyonefull time employment and good salaries. There drastic changes are turning people away.hope things change soon with new writers.I’ve been sticking by them and hope all fans of the two shows do until things get better.

  • clyde

IMO GH ratings are down because all the AMC and OLTL viewers went over to GH to see the Llanview 3 and thanks to ABC again it was a fiasco.

  • Jennifer

I knew DAYS would start to inch upwards once they started doing a little more “long storytelling” and not some much BAM! WAM! short, quick stuff. Viewers don’t take that stuff seriously like they do say Kate up to her tricks behind the scenes or Kristen the same. Then you have Nicole and Sami with their melodramatic lives, lol. DAYS is slowly coming around, very nice DOOL!!!!

  • LB5055

Does anyone think the new Todd character is Franco? I still have faith.
