Save Me

This week is sort of a secondary premiere week for summer reality series, Canadian imports and burn offs of series that the networks deemed unworthy of the regular season. Tonight, three series premiere: returning Canadian police drama Rookie Blue, reality series Someone's Got to Go and comedy Save Me. Save Me, about a woman who starts receiving messages from God after a near death experience, originally seemed like it would be a high profile television series. It stars TV A-lister Anne Heche and was one of the first series NBC greenlit for the 2012-13 season. But it never got a premiere date, until now. NBC's Thursdays suffered from such dismal ratings this season that it's possible that, by virtue of airing against repeats, Save Me could perform as well or better than NBC's regular season comedies. So how do you think it will do? Make your predictions.

  • The End

I’m going for 1.2-1.3 at best. Doubtful that there’s any expectation for this show to succeed even, going by the schedule for it.

I’ll call this a filler show.

  • Anthony

I voted for 1.2-1.3 I am under no impression of any hope that it gets renewed, but they have been advertising it a lot for a show that is being burned off.

  • CBSviewer

    0.8 for three reasons:
    1) All the other Comedies on NBC are reapeats.
    2) It faces The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men.
    3) It’s an NBC Comedy.

  • Dennis

It’s gonna flop bigger then HANNIBAL!!!

    :D :D :D

  • David

Shame this show can’t just be included in the new batch of shows and perform some miracle (pun intended). Being ordering in the same season as the likes of 1600 Penn and Animal Practice seems like bad luck.

  • John A

    0.8-1.0 at best.

  • Cyrax86

Lucky to reach 1.0. Originally this was one of the most interesting comedies to me a year ago, how unfortunate it turned into a burn off…

  • The End

I mostly went with 1.2-1.3 because, even when a show fails, sometimes they often premiere to reasonable numbers then utterly collapse like a house of cards.

Some Nielsen households will watch the show out of curiosity, and if they hate it, they won’t watch again.

I seriously don’t think it will rate below 1.0 for it’s premiere, but will hate below that for Episode 3 lol

  • Cyrax86

By the way, NBC only scheduled 8 episodes of this, did they halt production before it could reach the ordered 13, can anyone verify that?

  • Rebecca

If someone other than Anne Heche played the lead, I might watch. But since it’s her, I won’t. I vote for less than .8.

  • Dan

1.0 seems appropriate, Goodwin Games only got .6 whats the likelyhood that this show to do any better. I wish NBC would at least burnoff Next Caller, show us what we missed.

@Cyrax – No clue, I heard that there was production problems and I highly doubt all 13 episodes were made. I think only 8 were produced but I have no way to confirm that.

  • gerry

1.0 – everyone knows the other comedies are repeats at this point. and its the thursday before memorial day.

@ david – agreed. really this didn’t get a greenlight for the 2012/13 season but 1600 and animal practice (especially the latter) seemed like better ideas?

i’m a fan of anne heche so i’m going to watch. i just hope its decent and not completely horrible.

  • Oliver

They made a full 13 but are only airing 8, skipping episodes 2-5 which were made under the replaced original showrunner.

  • MichaelChickless

    Anything above a 1.0 would be heaven-sent!

  • Nick

I don’t know, they have been advertising this during everything from The Voice to SNL – they’re two big players. There has been A LOT of advertising. So it might surprise and do well.

  • The End

Advertising doesn’t always reflect in ratings though.

  • Greg

    DOA – 0.6

  • CBSviewer

How could it be a Comedy ? It’s talking about death, etc…

  • THE Cancellation Bear!

Less than .08-its on NBC, most people have realized the season, albeit for a few shows, is basically over, and its got Anne Heche in it. Since she went back in the closet, shes anything BUT an “A” actress- “A”” You mean A washed up actress! THE Cancellation Bear,,has spoken-RRROOOAAARRR!!!

  • Cyrax86

@Oliver, Thanks! I find that really stupid though, what would be the issue in airing all the episodes, it’s not like it would cause any harm!

Anne Heche was great in Men in Trees, wished her “comeback” was more than a Summer burn off…
