Save Me

This week is sort of a secondary premiere week for summer reality series, Canadian imports and burn offs of series that the networks deemed unworthy of the regular season. Tonight, three series premiere: returning Canadian police drama Rookie Blue, reality series Someone's Got to Go and comedy Save Me. Save Me, about a woman who starts receiving messages from God after a near death experience, originally seemed like it would be a high profile television series. It stars TV A-lister Anne Heche and was one of the first series NBC greenlit for the 2012-13 season. But it never got a premiere date, until now. NBC's Thursdays suffered from such dismal ratings this season that it's possible that, by virtue of airing against repeats, Save Me could perform as well or better than NBC's regular season comedies. So how do you think it will do? Make your predictions.

It will probably wind up looking more like a Saturday night burn-off than a Thursday night show. There have probably been other fictional TV shows about people who had a significant change of life after having a near death experience, and they all faded away without making much of an impact. What sometimes happens in real life (with all the advances in medicine), just does not translate into a good TV show. Many people have indeed seen the “white light” and come back from the brink, but, there’s a big difference between something that does take place (the sort of experience NOVA, PBS science show, would discuss) and a watchable TV program.

    0.5 – if its lucky.

  • Stephen

I’m guessing .8 with a 1.0 tops anything higher than that would surprise me.

I think it will do better than Goodwin Games since it’s airing against weaker competition and it’s at least airing on a normal comedy night for NBC.

I saw the first half of the show on the Sony site, a summer flop, but I don’t care.

  • DZ

I don’t know how this can be labeled anything but a typical summer burn-off.

  • Dan

Not sure if production codes are correct but it looks like NBC has the Pilot first then episodes 7-13 airing until June 13.

    8:00 Save Me – 0.8
    8:30 Save Me – 1.0

  • Colin

Imma say 0.6-0.9 b/c of no advertisement what so ever…

  • Ross

< 0.8. Rather sit through a 'God Cop' marathon.

  • rob60990

If it breaks a 1.0, I’ll be shocked.

I see this beating Wipeout and maybe the TAAHM/i> repeat.

@CBSviewer – The Big C is also a comedy… not sure why you think it can’t be funny.

  • David Howell

It’s got a double-pump in the summer, it’s got original competition (and a TBBT rerun, which might still beat said original competition!), and NBC kept 1600 Penn on the schedule ahead of this.

  • Chris

I believe Save Me had numerous production problems, which is why it’s debut is delayed until now. Part of me would love to see it bring in surprising numbers and get renewed among the carnage at NBC, but I know that wont happen.

The Big C was not a comedy, no matter how the Emmys categorized it.

This looks like a carbon copy of The Big C, with the same showrunner but with a much, much, MUCH worse lead actress.

0.8 if it’s lucky. It will be at Smash Saturday levels by week 3.

“TV A-lister Anne Heche ” HAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • Dan S

Anne Heche is no Laura Linney who was outstanding in The Big C. With that being said I voted for the bottom rung under 0.8 which should be on par with Goodwin Games. I wouldn’t be surprised if Annial is NBC’s highest rated show tonight. Still waiting to hear if that show is coming back or not.

  • HV

    Save Me 0.5
    Save Me 0.6
    The Office R 0.6
    Parks and Recreation R 0.4
    Hannibal 0.6

Save Me has been crying out loud on THE VOICE.
So people may give it a try and will save you. I will score 1.1.
But if you try to cry out so hard “save me”, you have to be funny. Okay?

  • Recollected

Watching it now – I actually enjoy it!
