TV Ratings Friday: '20/20' and 'Rock Center' Down on Quiet Memorial Day Weekend Friday

Note: NBC's programming was preempted for baseball in San Francisco. The ratings are subject to more than the typical adjustments in the finals.

ABC was number one in adults 18-49 while NBC  was on top with total viewers.

On ABC,  20/20 earned a 1.1 down  27 percent from last week's 1.5 adults 18-49 rating.

On NBC, Rock Center garnered a  0.9 down 31 percent from last week's 1.3 adults 18-49 rating.

On FOX, a special airing of a series that normally airs on National Geographic Channel Brain Games: Blow your Mind scored a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating.

Definitions:

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.  More information on ratings is available here.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    And the CW only gave Nikita 6 ep renewal and TCD 13 ep. Thats why you fail CW! Worst network ever created they are beyond clueless lol.

    Great for Shark Tank. Nikita ratings are weird. How does a repeat match and beat most of your originals during the season?

    Shark Tank is a beast in reruns. ABC should just stick with the 2 hours and put What Would You Do somewhere else.

    Nikita was either preempted or their fans dont know if theyre watching an original or a rerun.

    i believe its because Nikita has been very unlucky because being preempted the last couple of airings this season. If there is no preemptions Nikita does quite well for CW.

    CW is made out of fail lmao.

    @Loki,aka Bondoel.You should be thankful for CW cause 1.You wouldnt have Nikita(a show you enjoy/are obsessed with) without it / if not for CW 2.They gave Nikita three seasons more it deserved ratings wise & more seasons than any other network wouldve and 3. Theyre giving the show a chance to wrap up properly for fans like you.

    It’s Friday of Memorial Day weekend, which explained why even “Dateline” was a rerun.

    In fact, wasn’t “20/20″ also a rerun??

    My guess is that tonight (May 25th), we are going to see a new record for the fewest number of people to watch prime-time TV, combining broadcast and cable, for any night in May since the mid-1950′s; and the fewest number of people to watch the broadcast networks on any night in May since around 1952 or 1953.

    Regional baseball on Fox will draw some viewers in the cities whose local teams are playing, and NBC’s hockey game may also draw some viewers in Chicago and Detroit.

    I really enjoyed Rock Center last night. That was really cool to see the report about the producer of Friends work at the school for the blind outside of Boston. The report they did on tornado in Oaklahoma was really sad to hear about the school being destroyed.
