Due to the nature of live sports programming the ratings for FOX (NASCAR) are approximate and subject to more than the typical adjustments in the final numbers. See below for more information on these Fast Affiliate Ratings.

FOX was number one among adults 18-49  and with total viewers.

On FOX, NASCAR Sprint Cup: Coca-Cola 600 earned a preliminary 1.9 adults 18-49 rating from 7-1 0PM down 10 percent from a 2.1 final rating for last year's race on Sunday, May 27, 2012, but even with last year's fast nationals.

On NBC, Smash scored a 0.5 adults 18-49 rating from 9-10 PM, up 25 percent from a 0.4 for its most recent episode on May 11. At 10PM, the series finale also  garnered  a 0.5 adults 18-49 rating up 25 percent from a o.4 on May 11. Your predictions were a little optimistic.

Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

The best episode of Smash in a long time, shame the whole season couldn’t have been this good, maybe the ratings would have increased.

  • JR35

Tying ABC’s reruns. Oy. Never watched the show- did it get a proper finale?

  • Abir

Smash was amazing! They went off with a great bang last night! Season 3 would be great but they went off wonderfully. So proud of them!

The ratings were exactly what I expected. Sunday night, two episodes in two hours straight after being rescheduled so often with promotion in all the wrong places… Smash was killed off unjustly.

Well done to this amazing show and I wish the best for everybody involved in creating the production!

  • Samuel

Last night was the first time I ever watched Smash and it was actually very good. However, I hear that this season was nothing like the finale.

  • CrimTV

WOW, just 1 show over a 1.0 on a Sunday, this is the sad state of television … :(

  • Danak

Ah well, I figured Smash would probably get a .5 or .6 given the circumstances. It got almost no primetime promotion the last two weeks (actually none since it got moved to Saturday), except for 1 promo on the Voice repeat right before it. That’s actually up some from the last Saturday episode which got a .4 and 2 million viewers. But it’s Memorial Day weekend so I wasn’t expecting much. More’s the pity.

  • rob60990

CrimTV its a holiday weekend and just about everything was a rerun. What do u expect?

  • Samunto

wow Smash retained 100% of The Voice Lead-in!

  • CrimTV

    @rob60990

Sorry I wasn’t aware of the holiday weekend (live in the UK) but thanks that explains it.

  • DenverDean

@CrimTV Additionally, the NBA Semi-Finals were on cable. Guaranteed that got well above 2.0 in demo.

  • Craig

Shame for Smash but they wrapped everything up the best they could and went out with a bang

  • k:Alex

Is this Sunday, it looks like Saterday.

  • a p garcia

The voice beaten by Wipeout! Smash retained about 100% of voice lead in, that is unbelievable.

  • Brandy

@Crimtv, yes but remember, its trandtion time _summer tv season hasnt started & the regular season is over and all but two programs were reuns on broadcast networks and ratings have down since March cause of DST,warmer weather so people are outside more and Sun. havent been good for broadcast networks other than SNF this past season plus, its a long holiday weekend.

  • Danak

“Smash retained about 100% of voice lead in, that is unbelievable.”
The one or two times that Smash followed a Voice repeat on Saturday, it kept most or all of its lead-in. It’s shows following Voice originals that have trouble keeping the lead-in.

  • DW

outside of smash , the only thing new last night was on cable and netflix.

  • Andy W

Obviously the low ratings on Sunday were due to the fact that Arrested Development Season 4 was released on Netflix ;)

  • Charmed

I wish HBO would pick Smash up, they don’t care about ratings.

  • John A

    Wow horrible numbers all round.

  • jj

Hmmm….That’s a lot of viewers for nascar. I wonder what they enjoy of cars going in around in a circle for 4 hours. I bet 95% of those viewers are from the south.
