Disney Junior Preschooler Block Records May Highs; Grows May Audience

for 3 Straight Years in Kids 2-5 and 5 Years in Women 18-49; Sofia the First” Pacing as the Year’s #1 Cable TV Series Among Preschoolers

During May 2013, Disney Channel, the 24-hour kid-driven, family inclusive television network, extended its streak as TV’s #1 network to 25 consecutive months in Kids 6-11 (517,000/2.2 rating) and to 37 straight months in Tweens 9-14 (457,000/1.9 rating), towering over Nickelodeon by double digits for the 23rd month in a row in the target demos (30% in K6-11; 77% TW9-14). Moreover, May 2013 wrapped as the network’s 2nd-most-watched May on record in Total Viewers (1.56 million) and Tweens, posting an impressive 6th straight month of year-to-year growth – dates back to Dec. 12.

 

Disney Channel closed out May as the #1 Total Day TV network for the 102nd consecutive week in Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14 – dating back to week of 6/13/11 – out-delivering Nickelodeon by double digits for the 81st and 83rd straight week, respectively.

 

In Prime, Disney Channel lengthened its streak as TV’s #1 network to 99 consecutive months in Kids 6-11 (917,000/3.9 rating) and to 95 months in Tweens 9-14 (797,000/3.4 rating).

 

  • Austin & Ally” ranked as the month’s #1 TV series across Kids 2-11 (1.96 million/4.9 rating), Kids 6-11 (1.54 million/6.5 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.38 million/5.8 rating).

 

  • Overall, led by “Austin & Ally,” Disney Channel aired the month’s Top 6 TV telecasts in Kids 6-11 (10 of Top 11) and Top 23 in Tweens (33 of Top 34) – Top 5 below:

 

 

 

 

 

Disney Junior on Disney Channel

Disney Junior, the daily programming block for kids age 2-7 on Disney Channel, rose to May highs in Total Viewers (1.34 million), Kids 2-5 (521,000/3.3 rating), Girls 2-5 (276,000/3.5 rating) and Women 18-49 (314,000/0.5 rating). Furthermore, the block has grown its May audience for 3 consecutive years in Total Viewers, Kids 2-5 and Girls 2-5, and for 5 straight years in Women 18-49.

 

  • 2013 to date, “Sofia the Firstis cable TV’s #1 series in Kids 2-5 (756,000/4.7 rating), TV’s #1 series in Girls 2-5 (453,000/5.8 rating), and the #1 preschool cable TV series in Total Viewers (2.10 million) and Women 18-49 (428,000/0.7 rating).

 

24- Hour Disney Junior Channel

24-hour Disney Junior Channel ranked as the #1 preschool cable TV network for the 2nd consecutive month in Total Viewers (350,000), Kids 2-5 (190,000/1.2 rating) and Boys 2-5 (114,000/1.4 rating), winning each week throughout the month in the target demos. In fact, Disney Junior has been the #1 preschool TV network in Kids 2-5 and Boys 2-5 each week since becoming publicly measured at the top of April 2013 – that’s nine straight weeks!

 

  • Doc McStuffins” (5/13/13, 7:30 – 7:55 p.m.) stood as the month’s #1 mid-size preschool cable TV telecast in Kids 2-5 (516,000/3.2 rating), while “Little Einsteins” (5/13/13, 8:00 – 8:25 p.m.) was #1 in Boys 2-5 (381,000/4.6 rating).

 

  • Disney Junior Channel exceeded Nick Jr. by double digits in target demos: by 13% in Total Viewers (350,000 vs. 311,000), by 23% in Kids 2-5 (190,000 vs. 155,000) and by 52% in Boys 2-5 (114,000 vs. 75,000), despite being in 17 million fewer homes. Notably, Disney Junior has outdelivered Nick Jr. by double digits in each of the past 7 weeks in Kids 2-5 and for 9 straight weeks in Boys 2-5.

 

  • Disney Junior Channel soared over Sprout by triple digits in key categories, including by 150% in Total Viewers (350,000 vs. 140,000), by 184% in Kids 2-5 (190,000 vs. 67,000), by 338% in Boys 2-5 (114,000 vs. 26,000) and by 113% in Women 18-49 (64,000 vs. 30,000).
