MEXICO’S QUEST FOR THE WORLD CUP IS ON TELEMUNDO WITH A HIGH STAKES MATCH AGAINST JAMAICA ON TUESDAY, JUNE 4 AT 8:30PM ET
Telemundo’s “Rumbo Al Mundial” is home to the Mexican National Team and provides the best action as “El Tri” faces a tough test in Jamaica next Tuesday starting at 8:30PM ET
MIAMI – May 30, 2013- Telemundo presents a matchup full of tension on “Rumbo Al Mundial” next Tuesday, June 4 live from Kingston with the clash between Jamaica and Mexico at 8:30PM ET/7:30PM CT/5:30PM PT. Andrés Cantor will narrate all the action alongside Sammy Sadovnik, who will be providing the commentary and analysis of two matches pivotal for Mexico’s qualification to the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Mexico’s challenge on Telemundo will come against a Jamaican squad that is in must-win mode to keep its World Cup hopes alive. Meanwhile, Mexico heads into the match as the favorite but needs a convincing win against the Reggae Boyz to get closer to one of the three direct spots awarded to CONCACAF teams. The head-to-head stats between these two teams favor “El Tri” with a total of 18 wins, three draws and just one loss. However, the last time that they met ended in a 0-0 draw at Mexico’s own Estadio Azteca, while the last clash in Kingston saw Jamaica shock the world with a 1-0 win in 2008.
The action doesn’t stop after the final whistle, because mun2, Telemundo Media’s cable network, will provide the best analysis and commentary right after the match on its postgame show as well as an exclusive interview with Julio Dely Valdés, the manager of the same Panama National Team that will be playing against Mexico 72 hours later, from Jamaica.
Viewers will be able to interact during the broadcast by sending their comments via Twitter to @TelemundoSports with the hashtag #por3puntos. Mexican fans can also send their videos and pictures explaining what they would do in order to obtain the three points awarded for a victory while wearing Mexico’s jersey to Deportes Telemundo’s YouTube and Instagram pages. Fans will be able to vote for the “Key Player of the Match” on Deportes Telemundo’s Facebook page on the day of each clash. Additionally, Telemundo’s sports and entertainment show, “Titulares y Más”, (Thursdays and Fridays, 11:35PM/10:35C) encourages its viewers to participate in the “Canta Tu Gol” (“Make Your Own Goal Call”) segment, which could air live. Viewers can also send their most exciting and original “gooooal!” calls via YouTube.com by including “Canta tu gol” as the video’s main title.
