The Following March 18

via press release:

CATCH UP ON “THE FOLLOWING,”

TELEVISION’S NO. 1 NEW SHOW,

WHEN SEASON ONE AIRS ON FRIDAYS STARTING TONIGHT ON FOX

Beginning tonight, THE FOLLOWING, the No. 1 new show of the season, is giving fans and those who missed out on the intense, spellbinding series the first time, a chance to watch all fifteen episodes from the premiere to the finale on Friday nights (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), this summer on FOX.

From creator/executive producer Kevin Williamson (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Dawson’s Creek,” the “Scream” franchise) and starring Golden Globe winner and Emmy Award nominee Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy, THE FOLLOWING out-rated all freshman series, finished the 2012-13 season as the No. 1 drama on broadcast television among Adults 18-49, Men 18-49 and Men 18-34 and drew an average audience of 16.3 million viewers across key live and time-shifted platforms.

When notorious serial killer JOE CARROLL (Purefoy) escaped from death row, the FBI called former agent RYAN HARDY (Bacon) to consult on the case, as he was the one responsible for Carroll’s capture in 2003, after Carroll murdered 14 female students on the Virginia college campus where he taught literature. Ryan, working closely with an FBI team, including MIKE WESTON (Shawn Ashmore) and FBI Specialist DEBRA PARKER (Annie Parisse), uncovered that Carroll was covertly communicating with a network of followers while in prison. Challenged with the ever-growing web of murders orchestrated by the devious Carroll, the FBI quickly learned that they were up against not one, but a cult of killers.

THE FOLLOWING summer episodes also will be available the day after they air on FOX.com and hulu.com, via FOX On Demand (through Cablevision, Cox, Mediacom, Time Warner, AT&T U-verse, Verizon FiOS, Xfinity TV, Brighthouse Networks, Guadalupe Valley and Blue Ridge Communications) and on the FOX NOW App (iOS, Android, Windows 8, Xbox and Samsung Connected TVs).

THE FOLLOWING is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Outerbanks Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television. The series is created, written and executive-produced by Kevin Williamson. Marcos Siega also serves as an executive producer and director. “Like” THE FOLLOWING on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/TheFollowing. The Following IS AMAZING!!! Cannot wait!

  • MichaelChickless

It’s the best televised adrenaline rush since 24.

  • CBSviewer

Best new Show of the Season !

  • SVU: Hannibal

Knowing Fox, it’ll be replaced by Kitchen Nightmare or Bones reruns by mid July. They should have kept the Late Sat night repeats during the spring.

  • TVMAN

Good idea to help try build an audience into season 2 even tho it will get low ratings. The Following would go greatly on Mondays with 24

  • Survivor Fan

I missed this show in the season. Should I watch this summer?

  • MichaelChickless

    Yes

  • Matthew

I tried it the first 5 episodes and just thought it got silly. Am I wrong?

  • Tony JJ

I’ll be DVRing these every friday and will watch throughout the summer!

  • harry

16 million viewers and then they woke up….
only shows that got 16 million viewers and above are ncis and big bang theory.

    damn liars.

  • harry

the show for season 1 averages 2.63 (18-49)rating and 7.960.000 viewers.

It is not the number 1 drama in broadcast and it does not have 16 million viewers , best audience it ever drew was 10.420.000

  • Melissa

The only reason The Following has the highest “most current” drama average is because FOX never aired in-slot repeats of the show. On the metric that actually matters (L+SD A18-49), The Following wasn’t even a top 5 drama.

    1. NCIS, 3.35
    2. Grey’s Anatomy, 3.10
    3. Person of Interest, 2.90
    4. Criminal Minds, 2.87
    5. NCIS: Los Angeles, 2.81
    6. Once Upon a Time, 2.72
    7. The Following, 2.63

The Following is an incredible show. Can’t wait for season 2.

  • City Kitty

This is a very interesting show – it DOES get better as the episodes roll out. The actors are superb.

@harry, read the article again. It very clearly states, “an average audience of 16.3 million viewers across key live and time-shifted platforms.” So yes, there were 16 million viewers. They weren’t all live viewers, but the article didn’t claim they were.

  • RMH

@ MichaelChickless – 24: The best televised adrenaline that’s coming back!!
@ harry – It was the #1 NEW show, not the #1 drama.

  • RMH

    Adrenaline RUSH. Sorry.

  • cas

Haha I like how people aren’t reading the article at all. It clearly states “across all platforms” for the viewers and ratings. And while some people think it was far fetched sometimes, I tend to think that most shows these days are. Do you really think they catch criminals exactly like they do in NCIS or CSI? Or that, OUAT or Grey’s or Scandal isn’t far fetched? It is TV, so it is all a little out there. Overall, I found it enjoyable and I can’t wait to see how the cliffhanger turns out.
