“CBS THIS MORNING” ADDED +476,000 VIEWERS IN MAY 2013 COMPARED TO LAST MAY – CBS’S LARGEST MAY SWEEP GAIN IN OVER TWENTY YEARS AND THE CLOSEST COMPETITIVE POSITION AGAINST NBC IN NINETEEN YEARS
FOR THE 2012-2013 TELEVISION SEASON, “CBS THIS MORNING” POSTED DOUBLE-DIGIT PERCENTAGE GAINS AMONG VIEWERS (+11%) AND HOUSEHOLDS (+11%) COMPARED TO LAST YEAR
For the May 2013 sweep, CBS THIS MORNING posted year-to-year gains in viewers (+19%), adults 25-54 (+13%) and households (+16%) compared to the May 2012 sweep. This is the network’s best May sweep delivery in viewers since May 1994, adults 25-54 since May 2011, and households since May 2009, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings. CBS THIS MORNING added +476,000 viewers in the May 2013 sweep compared to May 2012, representing the largest May sweep viewer gain for a CBS morning news program in over twenty years. CBS THIS MORNING cut the viewer deficit with NBC by over three-quarters of a million viewers compared to last May, representing the closest competitive position against NBC in viewers in a May sweep in nineteen years.
For the 2012-13 television season most current, CBS THIS MORNING posted double-digit percentage gains among viewers (+11%) and households (+11%) compared to last season, representing the best season delivery in both categories since the 2008-2009 season. CBS THIS MORNING added +280,000 viewers compared to last year, CBS’s largest year-to-year viewer increase in the morning in fifteen years. Additionally, CBS THIS MORNING cut the viewer deficit with NBC by almost a million viewers (from 2.82m to 1.88m) compared to last season, representing the closest competitive position against NBC in viewers in eighteen years.
CBS THIS MORNING posted substantial year-to-year gains in the week ending May 24 among viewers (+39%), adults 25-54 (+29%), households (+41%), women 25-54 (+50%) and women 18-49 (+33%) compared to the same week last year, and added +880,000 viewers. This was the network’s best weekly morning news delivery in viewers and households since the week ending January 16, 2009.
