I find it really annoying when people put down one soap when they haven’t even saw it. Like now I watch GH and DAYS and I can say without doubt that DAYS had the best may sweeps out of the two and it is still on the roll and don’t go thinking its going to stay in fourth place because it had another amazing week. It really irratating when they put DAYS down and you haven’t even saw it lately.

I am soooo happy that Days of Our Lives is going up in the ratings…They have a perfectly cast group of actors, great writing, and the story moves quickly…In years past we would have to wait fot the “pay off” in a storyline, but not we get the results and move to the next story. It has been great..Keep up the good work…

People who use the juvenile slag term ‘hater’ deserve to be ignored. If you can’t make your point without reducing your comments to that of common teenagers, we then have a right to ignore you.

    good week for soaps

  • Mike

Jonboy, Yes I am. I don’t think you can post at all if you don’t. I know several times I didn’t see it and it popped up that I had to check it.

TJ, I am glad to hear it is not just me.

Bex, I agree. The term hater is one of the most overused and juvenile of terms out there. When I even hear anyone use it now I just tune out of anything they say.

@GHFan — Charming. Not much of a fan if you’re happy with or wish for any kind of decline or demise of the show. You’re the kind of person who shows your own irrelevance.

  • Irish Girl

@MM – LOL…hit the nail on the head. And yes, I agree that Ron’s just getting started now that the PP mess is out of the way. I like the new characters and am very happy these actors are back. GH will be better than okay. ;)

I love this new breed of soap opera fan who think so highly of themselves that they feel they have the right to tell folks who is and isn’t a fan.

Being a fan of a show does not mean that you accept whatever. It just means you like the show. But being a fan of a show does not mean that you like every single thing about it. These are TV shows. Their only function is to entertain.

They are not your spouse where you take vows to love, honor and cherish them. They are not your parents — they didn’t give birth to you. They are not your employer — they do not pay you to watch them.

No one owes anything to a TV show.

The type of fans who accept whatever are exactly the kind of fans Frons talked about who needed to be trained. And that is what has happened. Instead of a fan of a TV show you have been trained like a cult member. You will like whatever we put on the screen. You will be loyal and you will never say a word against me. And if anyone does say something against then you will seek them out on message boards and tell them they are not true fans. Now go out and recruit more cult members.

Can you solve the puzzle Mike?

Days of our lives is not perfect, but it sure is fattening!

Mike…I agree. I watched the first season of AMC’s “The Killing” and was one of those fans who felt lied to by the network and producers when the reveal of the killer was punted to the second season. I did not return for the second season and instead only read online recaps of the episodes. A lot of people left the show like I did as only one episode from the second season was able to match or beat the ratings from season one (and even then it was only by 10,000 viewers). The second season finale, where the killer was finally revealed, was oddly one of the lower rated episodes, and nearly 1 million viewers behind the first season finale.

I decided to watch the season three premiere, but I still have a bad taste left over from that first season lie and now take everything that the producers say with a grain of salt.

Pre-emptions can both help and hurt a soap. It can help by reducing the number of days that it airs, lessening the liklihood of having a “bad” day, but it can also hurt by stopping momentum and also possibly allows a “bad” day to take a larger toll on the ratings.

With that said, I wonder if last Monday’s pre-emption for French Open Tennis will help or hurt “Days”. Similarly, “Days” is pre-empted on Thursday and Friday this week for tennis as well. Will airing for only three days be a blessing or a curse?

DAYS is on a roll! They beat GH in total viewers and the 18-49 demo! This show has been on an upswing for months now! Eileen Davidson (Kristen) is my favorite actor on the show at the moment! She is really stirring the pot in Salem with her sexy, wicked portrayal of a woman bent on revenge! Can’t wait to see her character continue to heat up the screen with Brady (Eric Martsolf) and make life miserable for John (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena (Deidre Hall)!!! Eileen Davidson’s portrayal has brought new life to the aforementioned characters and the entire show!!! Loving her!!!

Also, the Will/Sonny/Nick/Gabi storyline has been very intriguing and exciting! The writers and actors involved in this story have been doing exceptional work! Can’t wait to see what happens in the future with these characters! I predict another Emmy win this year for Chandler Massey (Will)!

The arrival of JJ is showing promise, also. He is apparently going to be a thorn in Daniel and Jennifer’s side as the rebellious teenaged son who isn’t too fond of the new guy in his mother’s life! I’m curious to see how the goody-goody Jennifer handles this! Sounds like fun!

Add the escalating, taboo attraction between that “trying to reform bad girl” Nicole and Father Eric into the mix and hopefully DAYS fans will be in for major excitement in the coming weeks/months! Hats off to DAYS!!!

Days has been great lately. Glad the ratings support this! I don’t watch the other soaps on network. I really like PP’s OLTL and AMC, too!

  • Deeann

@Greg Ron made GH “watchable” again? By turning it into a OLTL clone? I don’t think so!

  • 4hourglass

B&B stands for BOTCHY & BOTHERSOME!

  • 4hourglass

NBC should get rid of tennis and turn the peacock into the hourglass.
NBC will be known as the HOURGLASS NETWORK for now on!
Days of our Lives is just about the only good show on NBC-the HOURGLASS NETWORK.

  • jonboyelk

@Deann Problem is that GH is far from a clone of those last few excellent months of OLTL. IMO RC isn’t capable of duplicating the storytelling he did there. I’m half heartedly sticking with it (for now) but I feel like I’m watching something written by 8th graders. I hate the characters created for the “big 3″. If they couldn’t remain as their OLTL characters I would just as soon rather they hadn’t returned at all. Nice scene with Tracy and Monica yesterday.
