Oh and I agree with Im cee. The evil trio have done nothing for GH but make it unwatchable!

  • Amy

@ Mike DOOL doesn’t have a younger generation of actors who are popular. They did at one point but Dena Higley ruined the characters with OOC storylines.

  • 4hourglass

DOOL is very much in control of their storylines including the youngsters.
They have a few popular young characters including those involved in a
Story which could have been the kiss of death for writers with less skill.

Soon, the newer fans, as well as the existing ones, will witness the arrival of
new youngsters for all the fans to appreciate under the guidance of the
best writers in a long time.

So, it will be nice for a larger than usual audiance to be in on it from their start.
DAYS OF OUR LIVES will be better than ever!

I feel that gh is doing well we need to support our four soaps because reality tv wants the slots gh is changing for the better those three oltls I don’t look at them the same I look at them as new characters they had to change the characters because of law suits I love y and r b and b and gh they all rock

Wow…did you see Days. What a surprise the writers came up with Nick. He actually went to Will’s hospital room to show Will his new baby girl. What a change to Nick’s character. We also got to know the real reason behind Nick’s homophobic. The picture with Kristen finally got shown to Brady. But at this point she was truly in love with Brady. This hurt her big time. A new stronger anger has built up in her. Wow these writers are great. Wow the actors are excellent. They all deserve Emmys. Will and Sonny’s relationship has strengthened. Jennifer and Daniel now have an obstacle to overcome, in the form of JJ. Hope is back in the spotlight. Roman is teasing John and Marlena’s relationship. There is a good mix of younger actors and older characters to keep fans young and old watching. Will, Sonny, Abby, Victor, Maggie. EJ, and the ohh so talented Stefano. I have said it before Days is the soap for the 21st century.

For GH fans, I am surprised the GH’s ratings. With all that ABC did for it, like moving it back to the 2pm timeslot, the 50th anniversary special and promoting that it got. There has got to be a greater problem with the show. Maybe the writers? There has been so much hipe for it. Maybe there is no more life in it.

  • jonboyelk

A bit off topic but just wondering: why the heck on OLTL do doors open outwards instead of inwards?

  • 4hourglass

    They must live in barns!

  • Tim

Days of our lives was awesome today……it just keeps getting hotter for the upcoming summer……Tim

  • sedgrick

@Amy actually Days does have younger characters that are popular. I mean Will and Sonny are the most popular young couple at the moment.

I think there is a big difference in supporting our programs and just accepting whatever they give us.

Yes the reality shows and other shows want the time slots, but that is no reason for soap fans just to sit back and say well I had better just watch whatever or they’ll cancel my show.

I’m sorry. The folks that act in these shows and the people behind them are the ones getting paid to do these shows. And just sitting back and watching whatever gives them the idea that they can sit back and be lazy and not do their jobs. Hey we can just phone it in because these crazy fans out there will watch it anyway.

I love Young & the Restless, but I hated what Maria Arena Bell did to that show. And I refused to sit back and let her make big bucks while ruining my show.

I believe the best support we can give our shows is to call out the hacks and force them to give us what we deserve. A good show worthy of our viewership. If they can’t do that then sorry these folks don’t deserve to have their jobs. Why should they be allowed to sit back and make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year for putting out an inferior product.

This is a bit off topic, but may have some implications for soap fans. There are rumors that Katie Couric’s ABC produced talk show “Katie” will get canceled, despite being renewed. It seems that Katie doesn’t like some “backstage drama” and would rather see her talker canceled and move over to CNN than continue with her own show. While this is strictly labeled as a “rumor”, CNN’s new president is the former producer of “Katie” (who also worked with Katie during her tenure on NBC’s “Today”), Jeff Zucker, so this “rumor” may have some basis in fact.

  • lm cee

Mike I couldn’t agree with you more that is why I no longer DVR GH . I will watch the segments with the actors I care about on U tube. I will not support Ron & Frank. GH is no longer GH. It’s all about his pets and the actors who he has hired. They are all front and center hogging all the air time. While the vets get crumbs. How many more actors is this show going to loose? He brought back all these vets for the 50th and to boost ratings and now where are they?

  • Mike

Jay, I know that a lot of that stuff started with that awful Fox news article on the show. Of course they hate Katie anyway because she made their hero Palin look so bad. That article did not name one source at all. It was all sources close to the set or an unnamed ABC executive, and so forth.

But there have been more rumors that have come out…but still as you said just rumors. One that if the show didn’t complete it’s second year she could be moved over to The View to take Barbara Walters place.

And then the CNN rumor too.

But I guess it will all boil down to how long the contract was that she made with ABC because if I remember correctly it was a contract with ABC for an extended period of time and not just to do one show but multiple projects over a period of time.

  • Cheryl

My predictions for all soaps will be not existing,id say give it at the most 5 years. Just saying

  • Grace

GH was not shown in the Los Angeles area markets or KABC on Friday as it was preempted due to a shooting in Santa Monica. ALL afternoon programs were!

I don’t know how other major city/markets cover “breaking news” but LA Eyewitness News usually goes on and stays on for hours, many times forcing those of living in several huge counties to watch GH either on Soapnet or online. This makes the GH ratings go down many days. I’m sure that’s why the numbers for GH were down on Friday.

Counties include – Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, Ventura, San Bernardino (largest in US by land size), and portions of other ones.
