Friday’s has typically been the lowest days for soaps for awhile. All of them usually see a drop of some kind. Days has been bucking the trend lately and building on Friday.

As far as GH goes they have had big losses for not just this past Friday but for the last 2 Fridays.

The week before on the 24th they lost over 200,000 viewers from Thursday to Friday and dropped from a 1.9 to a 1.7.

On the 31st (the ratings period for this set of ratings) they went from a 2.1 to 1.9 and lost near to 300,000 viewers.

Even Y&R for this current ratings period dropped almost 300,000 viewers on Friday. But B&B and Days picked up viewers on Friday.

Pre-emptions usually affect all the soaps because if it is a news event usually all the affiliates in that area will cover the news story. So I think it is more of just the general trend right now.

When I was looking at those ratings for the Friday, I noticed something interesting about the Season to Date Ratings.

For awhile now the 4 shows have basically had the same HH Season to Date Ratings.

GH has been 2.3 for awhile and Days has been 2.0.

The season to date ratings include the 7 day DVR numbers. That has been confirmed in the last 2 NBC press releases for Days. It states it at the bottom of the press release.

The current season to date ratings show GH now at 2.2 and Days at 2.1. Y&R is still at 3.6 and B&B is still at 2.6.

@4hourglass I would think they’d knock their guest off the porch when they swing that door outward! @Mike Totally agree with not sitting back and just accepting when they shove garbage down our throats. Sadly the most we can do is just stop watching, ratings fall and the show gets canceled. It’s a lose/lose.

No letter writing and stuff like that works when it is a combined effort.

The Days fans over at Daytime Royalty got so tired of Dena Higley that they formed that Twitter bomb, calling circle, and letter writing/email thing. Instead of boycotting or protesting they called, emailed, wrote, and Tweeted. And finally Corday and the group listened to them.

When your not a Nielsen family tuning out really does nothing. You have to get bunches of them to tune out as well.

But most fans have trained themselves to the point these days that they are too chicken too say anything and feel like the best way is to bully others in to not saying anything either. Thus the very juvenile and immature terms of hater, etc.

Instead of attacking the people who can actually make a difference they attack other posters, or resort to making excuses for the problems. In the end those don’t help the problem just make it worse. When ratings fall instead of blaming the system, you should be looking for why they are falling.

I have to give it to Prospect Park at least they seem to be doing that and trying to make changes to counteract them.

gh just got on a abc day ad good for them

  • joshua

The new Kyle sucks! Bring back the old one please.

  • Kayla Rae

DOOL was GREAT again today! Evil Stefano wanted that dirty cop he’s got under his thumb to cut off Rafe’s member! Sami shot the guy just in the nick of time! Now the blade the guy was wielding is missing and I think EJ must have grabbed the blade and secreted it on his person. We’ll see!

  • Kayla Rae

Simply love watching Stefano “conduct the orchestra” as he is reveling in his evil plans underway! What a phenomenal actor!

I just viewed the 2 daytime promos — one for CBS about bringing sexy back and the one for ABC. The one for CBS is so well made and really makes you want to watch. Sorry but ABC really didn’t even seem to try with the ABC one. There is nothing in that promo that would make me want to tune into The View or The Chew or GH.

  • jonboyelk

@Joshua Hunter King (Summer) deserves a best actress award for not retching when forced to kiss ugly, sledge-hammer face Kyle. It’s like watching Mask.

  • jonboyelk

@Mike I heard the networks sometimes check out message boards related to their shows. Maybe that’s the avenue to take.

  • bizzarr1000

this has been a good week for gh

  • What

GH is horrible right now I’m shocked people still watch I guess there’s nothing else to watch at 2pm. Bringing Todd as Franco is such a joke like you couldn’t have made him a brand new character why Franco? DUMB! Ron and Frank only care about their pets i give this joke of a soap a YEAR. Days is so good loving it

  • Mike

In case none of you saw it, the person who releases the ratings at SON posted this morning that the ratings will not be posted until Tuesday. They did not receive them before they left for a trip.So they will not be posted until some time Tuesday.

No press releases from any network this week.

WOW! DAYS had almost 3 million viewers on Tuesday and Wednesday! Way to go! I have been trying to watch when I can and from what I can tell the show is on a good path with the “storytelling” especially with Chandler Massey (Will) and Eileen Davidson/Deidre Hall. I think DAYS could win the Emmy this year if they keep up the good work!

  • Eddie

DAYS has the momentum going into the summer so that these stories will likely peak big time when the November sweeps roll around. I quit watching for a while but I have been watching lately. I can’t resist the great acting of Lauren Koslow (Kate) and her gay grandson, Chandler Massey (Will). Days is back on the right track, very good!!

  • Sophie

Yea GH is back to getting the vets back on. Ratings will be going up again.
It’s been good again the last two weeks. Right after the 50th it slid a bit. But now it’s so much better. Thanks GH!!!!

  • bizzarr1000

gh had a great week this week

  • Jill

DAYS has always been my favorite and I’m so glad that the writers have made some good changes with the stories. For instance, Will and Sonny, Kristen/Brady/Marlena/John, and then we have Kate played by Lauren Koslow who has always been a great actress! I am a nurse and am working back on graveyard shift so now I am home to see DAYS at 1 pm here on the west coast. DAYS ratings will keep moving upwards if these stories play out like I think they will, maybe some of them climaxing during the November sweeps period!! I said back in Jan., “Give DAYS a year and we will see Days of Our Lives in contention for the #2 spot. Better yet maybe by November we will see DAYS pulling in over 3 million viewers and a 2.3 rating. I can hardly wait for the next episode!!! Good job over at NBC with DAYS…….FINALLY!
