Game of Thrones Finale

Last week's Game of Thrones was a bit of a shocker for those who had never read the books, and caused quite the social media firestorm, with many pledging to quit the series after the events that transpired. I suppose some people just don't like weddings.

Tomorrow sees the premiere of the season finale, and while I seriously doubt anyone is actually going to rage-quit the series, some are saying that all the attention from last week's episode could propel the finale to a new series high. Last week's episode earned a 2.8 adults 18-49 rating. So what do you think? Look into the flame, make your predictions below and tell us why in the comments!

I voted 3.2-3.4 which is irrelevant for a pay tv network. It will definitely set a new viewership record, that ending was off the hook.

  • Hugh

  • Melissa

24.9, matching the series finale of Friends! ;-)

  • samurai99

3.1 and 5.6 million+ viewers. All hail the best show on tv.

Side note, the killing is going to get destroyed.

I think it will see a modest uptick. I’m more inclined to believe that the Season 4 premiere at some point in the future will deliver the highest ratings for the series so far. My girlfriend and I had heard about the show and being fans of similar shows like Walking Dead and True Blood, we always thought about tuning in. But we didn’t give it a try until all the buzz after the Red Wedding. We won’t be tuning in to the finale, as we barely started season 1. But we should catch up by the time Season 4 starts. I assume a lot of others may do the same.

Going with the majority & will say 3.0. Having never read the books, but never missed an ep since S01, I’m still stunned from the “Red Wedding!”

    Can’t wait for the finale!

    3.0 but I voted 3.2-3.4.

  • James

There has been a lot of buzz after the Red Wedding episode so I think 6m and 3.3-3.4 demo.

  • David Howell

The usual small season finale uptick, at a guess. 3.0. The reaction to the last episode certainly creates uncertainty in both directions, though.

Probably be big, but I have no idea what the fuss is about the Red Wedding scenes. It felt gratuitous with no purpose other than to rid the show of pointless characters. GRRM and co. seem more about being “shocking” than anything else. I wasn’t shocked. More annoyed that they had to resort to such barrel scraping to create drama – if that’s what it was meant to be.

Never knew the King in the North, his mother who lost her husband and children to Lannisters and backstabbers, his wife who was bearing his firstborn were all pointless characters. Thanks for your totally helpful comment.

The two previous season finales for Game of Thrones were the most watched episodes of their seasons. I don’t see that changing for the third season. I’m predicting a 3.1 rating and 5.7 million total viewers. Somebody already pointed out that because HBO is a premium subscription service, the 18-49 rating really doesn’t matter to HBO, only the number of subscribers matter.

Last week’s episode was epic. I didn’t have any problems with the wedding massacre.

    You’re welcome.

  • Liz

    6.1 million,3.3 demo!!!

  • E.S.

Between GOT and the NBA finals, CBS may break the record for least watched Tony Awards presentation of all time, and GOT will definitely beat the Tonys in both households and demos.

  • Cody

I have been saying a 3.4 for the finale since the middle of the season and I stick by it.

  • James

Love the show hated the last episode

  • BG

  • Newbourne

    2.9. Irrelevant though, so I don’t understand why you’re doing a poll.

  • Ashley

Have you guys not been following? Season 3 has constantly reeled in over 4 million viewers. I predict 5.9 million for this episode, despite the moronic protests people had planned to hold in vigil of the Red Wedding
