TNT’s Falling Skies Captures 4.2 Million Viewers and Demo Growth

With Two-Hour Season Premiere

TNT’s epic drama Falling Skies, which ranked as basic cable's #1 summer drama with adults 25-54 last year, launched its third season Sunday night with more than 4.2 million viewers and growth among young adults. In the demos, the two-hour season premiere of Falling Skies drew more than 2.1 million adults 25-54 and 1.9 million adults 18-49, the latter up slightly over last year's season premiere.

Falling Skies garnered significant growth among the younger set, boosting its delivery of adults 18-34 (772,000) by +24% over last year's season premiere. In addition, Sunday night's audience for Falling Skies had a projected median age of 47, two years younger than last summer's premiere.

Falling Skies' strong performance Sunday night ranks it among basic cable's Top 5 scripted-series season premieres this year with total viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54. It also helped TNT rank as basic cable's #1 network in primetime Sunday night, according to preliminary household metered market data.

About TNT's Falling Skies

Falling Skies, TNT's epic series from DreamWorks Television and executive producer Steven Spielberg, tells the extraordinary tale of life and survival in the wake of a catastrophic alien invasion. Noah Wyle stars as a college professor who becomes an unlikely resistance leader. Falling Skies also stars Moon Bloodgood, Will Patton, Drew Roy, Connor Jessup, Maxim Knight, Seychelle Gabriel, Mpho Koaho, Colin Cunningham and Sarah Carter. Among the guest stars this season are Gloria Reuben, Robert Sean Leonard, Stephen Collins and Doug Jones.

Falling Skies premiered in summer 2011 and ranked as basic cable’s #1 new series of the year. The series returned with strong numbers last year, scoring 5.6 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery and ranking as basic cable's #1 drama of the summer with adults 25-54.

In addition to Spielberg, Falling Skies is executive-produced by DreamWorks Television heads Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank, along with Remi Aubuchon and Greg Beeman.

  • The End

    Well technically a little over 3 months. It wrapped before christmas anyway. This is one of few shows on the air that had cast and crew working into the night to finish some episodes. Just saying.

    Ok maybe not 15 but at least up it by 2. 12 would be nice amount.

    @Mark3

    Perhaps a guessing game is in order, as to what episode we’l hear news of a renewal on. I’ll go with 4 or 5 personally. ;)

  • Tihomir

    LOL, that is amazing! ^^

  • Patrick G

    Nice. I predicted 1.5 exactly! Still wish Warner Brothers would resurrect ABC’s “V” and air it in the summers after “Falling Skies” for a full night of alien invasions since both are WB properties! Guess I will have to watch my “V” DVDs afterwards instead.
