LONGTIME ‘LATE NIGHT’ WRITER TO PRODUCE ‘THE Tonight Show STARRING JIMMY FALLON’

Amy Ozols to Guide NBC’s Iconic Late Night Franchise With Lorne Michaels

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — June 11, 2013 — Amy Ozols has been named producer of the upcoming “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” which will premiere in February and shift to 30 Rock in New York.

Ozols will produce “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” Lorne Michaels will serve as executive producer.

“Amy Ozols has been with Jimmy since the very beginning of ‘Late Night.’ She is brilliant. I think she is the right choice to lead ‘The Tonight Show’ into the future,” Michaels said.

Said Fallon: “It’s been so fun working with Amy these past four years — she's been a standout writer and producer since we started ‘Late Night.’  She puts so much thought and care into everything she does and we share the same vision about making the best television that we can produce.  I know she'll put that same intelligence, cleverness and care into ‘The Tonight Show.’  This is exciting.”

Ozols has been a writer for “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” since the show’s premiere in 2009. She has written and produced some of the most popular “Late Night” parodies — including those on the “Real Housewives” franchise, “Glee” (“6-bee”) and “Game of Thrones” (“Game of Desks”) — as well as numerous other pieces, including Fallon’s acclaimed opening to the 2010 Emmy Awards.

Ozols graduated from Harvard, where she wrote for the Harvard Lampoon, and later from Harvard Law School.  Her writing has been featured in numerous magazines, including the New Yorker.

She resides in New York.

When is Leno starting his new show at FOX?

  • Kris

maybe Amy Ozols should’ve just taken the tonight show hosting gig and left fallon at late night.

So, Fallon’s sketches have been good. But, his VERY short standup intro in the show is lacking. Or, as someone once put it… it sucks.

He needs a longer and funnier standup routine for the show or it will tank.

I agree. But that’s nothing too hard to fix. Grab some of the sharpest writers to add to the current crew. He should be fine.
