  • Mike

oh well that post was supposed to say air GH and Days back to back. Sorry.

  • jonboyelk

Not hating on GH, just sayin’…..so Shawn, an expert marksman hits the flower pot instead of Olivia and the over-processed blond turns out to be the shooter? Unbelieveable. And after years of boozing it up Lukes liver is fine but, instead, he’s fallen victim to a toxin??? It’s almost as if they write this stuff as an afterthought. You’re losing me, GH. If this nonsense keeps up I’m going to go check out what’s so good about Days

  • MBmomof3

@jonboyelk…I agree with you about GH. When Shawn was all sweaty and ansty trying to set up the shot I was like “This guy is a sharpshooter”? WTF? So silly. And Luke’s liver is just okey dokey after all of his years of boozing it up? Yeah right! Really disappointed in this show lately. I was loving it for the past year then after the big 5-0 it went straight into the crapper. I watch DOOL and enjoy it most days (except for the loathsome Dannifer) I’ll keep watching GH and hope for a turn around soon.

Still love the soaps and glad to see a ratings increase anytime.

  • HOSPITAL DAYS

My new name fits the new schedule for soapnet. My prophecy is already
becoming a reality. GH and DOOL- togather to do battle.

What I understand is Eileen Davidson is very happy playing Kristen and
excited for the possible return of her look-alike Susan. Two of the juiciest
characters(Kristen and Susan)in all of television would chew up and spit
    out her former character(Ashley Abbott)on Y & R. She’s having a great time!

  • HOSPITAL DAYS

    @jonboyelk

Please stay with GH and l hope you become a DAYS fan! My fingers are crossed.

  • HOSPITAL DAYS

    @MBmomof3

GH needs you! As for DAYS, Dannifer is sure to see huge developements
with Jennifers son, JJ, with the drugs and Parker. I get sad thinking about
all that can happen. I hope you hang in there.

  • sedgrick

I Just have this feeling that Sony is going to get DAYS to start airing on TVGN with Y&R I wouldn’t be surprised if it happens.

  • HOSPITAL DAYS

    @Sedgrick

TVGN has partners that include CBS. Sorry, DAYS is on NBC.
NBC has no claim on TVGN. They did’nt pick Y&R over any soap
other than the simple ownership between CBS and TVGN. I’m sure
they will add B&B later on. Do you see a pattern?

  • JayTN

CBS co-owns TVGN, but has no ownership stake in Y&R. The deal with Y&R is between Sony, which produces Y&R, and CBS and Lionsgate, who jointly own TVGN.

Similarly, NBC has “no claim” on “Days”, as it is produced by Sony. While Y&R airing on TVGN does benefit CBS with the potential to lure extra viewers to not only TVGN but also Y&R, since both soaps are produced by Sony, I don’t think it is outside the realm of possibility to have “Days” air on TVGN. After all, NBC had no control over “Days” airing on the soon-to-be-shuttered SOAPnet, which is owned by the Disney-ABC Television Group.

B&B is owned by the Bell family, independent from CBS. There is a reason why B&B has never aired on SOAPnet and those same reasons (whatever they may be) will likely keep it off TVGN.

The only soap that is outright owned by the network it airs on is GH, which is totally owned by ABC. Remember that when SOAPnet launched in 2000, it only aired the ABC soaps, as SOAPnet and ABC are both owned by the Walt Disney Company. “Days” wasn’t added until 2004 and Y&R followed in 2006.

  • GHFan

I’m so frustrated with GH. I want to love you, but I just can’t anymore.

I think I’m going to take a break for awhile. If GH is cancelled then the writers can only blame themselves. Fans are more intelligent then the crap and bad re-writes they have been airling latley, and force fed romances. The very aggresive newbie plan is not paying off.

It’s not me, it’s you GH.

  • Mike

I just wonder how much the loss of Y&R is going to further hurt SoapNet. Y&R was their highest rated show. I know it is basically just playing out contracts but this can’t be good for them at all.

And to the AMC and OLTL forefront, another change today by Prospect Park. Those people just act like they don’t know what they are doing. Every week they make some kind of change to the schedule or the content of the show. How in the world can you get used to how they are going to air or what the content is when they change it so often.

  • Bex

GH and DOOL fans joining forces sounds great, each week you guys can compete for third.

  • Bex

Didn’t quite a few cable companies try to get of Soapnet, unless that was another channel I am thinking of?

  • GHfan

    @ Hospital Days

GH used to be different, it had a more serious tone and had characters I cared about. I’m not against newbies, I just don’t think any of them have been developed with any depth, and not nearly enough to be acting as leads of over GH characters who have been on for years. Not nearly enough emotion has been written for me to get invested. No romance build up.

I am so frusted with this show that I can just can’t watch anymore. I have written to ABC several times, but of course it won’t make a difference. I’ll keep up with GH on the message boards from time to time, but I am tuning out.

  • JayTN

Bex…from what I have heard and seen reported, SOAPnet is merely riding out its existing contracts with those cable/satellite providers that have not picked up the SOAPnet replacement, Disney Junior. Dish Network has not yet picked up that channel, while keeping SOAPnet on. DirecTV has both Disney Junior and SOAPnet. Presumably once these contracts with SOAPnet run out, they will not be renewed and the channel will simply disappear.

Also, it appears that SOAPnet is on an automated schedule, meaning that it airs the same programming every day (with different programming each weekend) without any changes. For instance, “One Tree Hill” airs every Monday thru Friday from 12:00 to 3:00 PM. There is never any change to the schedule (although the net is being forced to make changes next week with the loss of Y&R to TVGN) as most cable networks are quick to change their schedules, sometimes so quick that even on-screen guides cannot keep up.

  • JayTN

I hit submit too soon and meant to add this to my previous comment…

The last time that I personally remember a cable network going to an automated schedule was for Nick Games & Sports channel before it was reconfigured as TeenNick. Dish Network was late to the game in changing over to TeenNick and as a result, Nick G&S had an automated schedule in the months leading up to its transition.

I don’t know if the cable network that changed into OWN also had an automated schedule or not, but I believe that was the last cable network to “transition” from one channel to another.

I’ve decided I should put my money where my mouth is. Since I’ve watched GH on and off since 1977, I will submit a resume as Head Writer/Story Consultant.

Here’s a top 10 list of the changes I’ll make in the first 3 months:

    1) Bring back Scorpio with Tristan Rogers on contract.

    2) If Kimberly doesn’t want to be a part of the show, kill off Robin or send her away with Patrick (after Sabrina dies from a brain hemorrhage).

    3) Get Heather out of the sanitarium and back on the prowl.

    4) Focus on the romance while getting rid of the mob stories, replacing them with action-adventure and mystery.

    5) Give Carly a potent v.d.

    6) Murder mystery or plague with Kiki and Morgan as the first victims. Or Morgan and Kiki in that order, doesn’t matter as long as they’re the first two to go. Spoiler Alert: I’m thinking Richard Simmons as the killer.

7)Give storylines to Laura, Monica and Lucy.

8)Get rid of monotone acting Shawn. Send him away with borefestus Alexis.

    9)Bring Decker Moss back.

10)Do something with Mac and Felicia.

  • PatF

Sony and CBS won’t let Phelps kill their cornerstone Daytime program.

Because of YR, their entire Daytime lineup has been number one for 24 years now (I think).

They canned that Loon Marie Latham, and dumped Maria. They’ll hand Phelps her papers sooner than that if the ratings aren’t where they want them to be.

YR is healthy now because of the refocused character writing anyway. Not ANYTHING that Jillie has done.

  • Mike

Sony and CBS proved that when they took on the Bell family. No one ever thought they would fire Maria Bell but they did.

I don’t like a lot of things about Sony but they will team up with the network against family owners of the shows when they have to. They have done it with Corday at Days and now the Bells at Y&R.

They are in it to make money and will do what they need to in order to make that money.

  • jonboyelk

@Jason Great ideas for GH, especially the Carly one! Stick-her-nose-in-everybody’s-business has annoyed me since the first day I returned as a viewer a year and a half ago. I wanna reach through the tv screen and grab her by her chopped up hair.
