Devious Maids Premiere

via press release:

Lifetime’s all-new drama Devious Maids (#DeviousMaids) averaged 2.0 million Total Viewers in its premiere last night.  Starring Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty), Dania Ramírez (Entourage), Roselyn Sánchez (Without a Trace), Edy Ganem (Livin’ Loud) and Judy Reyes (Scrubs) as five maids with ambition and dreams of their own while working for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills, Devious Maids also averaged 865,000 Adults 25-54 viewers, 826,000 Adults 18-49 viewers, 662,000 Women 25-54 viewers and 633,000 Women 18-49 viewers, according to Nielsen Research.

Devious Maids centers on a close-knit group of maids who are bonded together by their jobs, life struggles and the melodramatic “upstairs-downstairs” universe that engulfs their employers.  Rosie (Ramírez), a widow who left her son back in Mexico when her husband died, works as the maid and nanny for a pair of self-absorbed and successful actors, Peri and Spence Westmore (Mariana Klaveno, True Blood, and Grant Show, Swing Town).  Aspiring singer Carmen (Sánchez), hopes that her pop star employer Alejandro (Matt Cedeño, Days Of Our Lives) can help jump-start her career, but Odessa (Melinda Page Hamilton, Mad Men), his very loyal housekeeper and her boss, will stop at nothing to stand in her way.  Zoila (Reyes) is the senior maid for Genevieve Delatour (Susan Lucci, All My Children), a co-dependent, emotionally unstable wealthy woman.  She works alongside her teen daughter Valentina (Ganem), who has a crush on Genevieve’s handsome son, Remi (Drew Van Acker, Pretty Little Liars).

In last night’s premiere, the women turned to one another for support when their friend and fellow maid Flora (Paula Garcés, CSI Miami) was brutally murdered at the home of her employers, Evelyn and Adrian Powell (Rebecca Wisocky, American Horror Story, and Tom Irwin, Grey’s Anatomy), at one of the largest society events of the year.  Meanwhile, newcomer Marisol (Ortiz) was hired to clean the home of Taylor and Michael Stappord (Brianna Brown, Homeland, and Brett Cullen, Damages), a newlywed couple with a complicated love history.  But Marisol has ulterior motives and when someone she loves becomes wrapped up in Flora’s murder, she goes undercover to learn the truth.

Inspired by the hit telenovela, Ellas son la Alegría del Hogar, Devious Maids is produced by ABC Studios.  The series was created by Marc Cherry (Desperate Housewives) and is executive produced by Cherry, Sabrina Wind (Desperate Housewives), Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives), Paul McGuigan (Scandal), Larry Shuman (Kissing Miranda), David Lonner, John Mass and Televisa USA’s Paul Presburger and Michael Garcia.

Actually, the Devious Maids numbers aren’t going to change. Lifetime got Nielsen to do a rush job on the numbers for their show.

  • Bryce Novarro

@One so what does that mean for the demo? 0.6, 0.7, or 0.8?

  • Rich

Susan Lucci needs to back to All My Children! We need Erica Kane back, even if it is online only.

  • One @ B

It should round to an 0.7.

  • Bryce Novarro

    @One ok thanks!

I think for a cable show that’s pretty decent numbers I wonder what it would have gotten if it had aired on ABC ..I mean it’s Lifetime . I haven’t watched it yet but I lot forward to it..

Not so sure what are the standards for Lifetime but if it keeps most of its viewership it might have a chance of survival. They need to release the ratings aswell.

Not surprised Devious Maids was low. Lifetime didn’t seem to do much promotion for it. Other than that the premiere was only ok not much happened u til the last 5 minutes. Will check it out again to see where it goes

It was fun; a nice way to just enjoy, relax and not worry about the pressures of the world. I do think while the maids are the stars i hope thye do more especailly with Zoila and Genevieve. Ana Ortiz, Judy Reyes and Susan Lucci who has sucha small par tare the real stand outs. Sure Rebecca Wisocky has the bad girl role but Lucci is a stitch and a half. Yes, she isn’t Erica Kane but she is so funny – she really missed her calling. Too bad the show has finished shooting, Marc Cherry would be wise to use the Genevieve character more often.

Devious Maids pulled a .7, not a .8 and calling any show a hit after 1 episode just makes you a moron.

  • Justin121

That picture is reminiscent of Desperate Housewives/Pretty Little Liars/pretty much any show starring four female friends and their dead fifth…

  • Nick

I think it did good, if it keep with thise ratings they’ll have more than one season, I mean The Borgias never had more than 1 million viewers and they had 3 seasons, they would have got more if it wasn’t so expensive

I loved the show, I watched it previously Lifetime OnDemand, I hope the show continues on; I am excited to watch next week.

Watched it online and that was all I could stand. Wasn’t a DH fan either. Devious Maids was so stereotypical, boring and had no real energy. I thought that each and every character was just a gross caricature of what you would expect from a maid and the people they work for. Nothing new there. And then when Eva Longoria tried to make her argument on how she’s a trailblazer on busting stereotypes, I knew I wouldn’t watch anymore episodes. The woman is a joke and is hardly a good source for picking material. She lucked upon DH but everything else she’s done was a flop.
