Under the Dome

No summer series has been more highly anticipated than Under the Dome. Based on a bestselling Stephen King novel, executive produced by A-list showrunner Neal Baer and with a cast that includes Dean Norris, Rachelle Lefevre and Britt Robertson, this is one summer show that isn't debuting after the official end of the season because of a lack of network confidence. It's intended to be a big event. So how big do you think its premiere tonight will be?  Make your predictions below.

    Probably a 1.8 or thereabouts.

  • Anna Bones Clarkwood

    Ok, thanks.

I wonder then if the whole book is season 1 or if only part of the book is covered.

One thing is at the very least if it gets cancelled b4 finishing the book, I can just pick up the book to finish it myself.

Also, if he keeps it to 1 full “story/book” per season, or per known ordered episode count, then the cliffhanger shouldn’t happen.

  • NBC Fan

    The Bachelorette-2.1
    Mistresses-1.4

    Under the Dome-2.2

    Stanley Cup Finals-2.6

    The Goodwin Games-0.5

    Oh Sit-0.4

  • Dennis

    Mistresses – 1.0
    Goodwin Games – 0.5
    Oh Sit – 0.3
    Under the Dome – 1.6

It’ll be after a TBBT repeat (which could get fairly easy a 2.8 or so) and it’s really hyped. It’s going to get at least a 2.7

Who knows?, but the first person who really hates this show will call it forevermore “THE DUMB”.

All the syfy fanboys who don’t get out much in the summer or any other season are predicting numbers off the charts for this limited run summer series. It would be extremely lucky to even come close to 2.0. I am thinking between 1.0 and 1.3, in spite of The Big Bang intro.

2.1. Might suffer from Game 6 of the Stanley Cup, but otherwise a solid debut for King.

  • Joseph

Is this not just like the Simpsons movie? Haha

  • Anon

I’ll be watching, but I really don’t think this will have broad appeal. It might manage to build a little over the sitcom rerun lead-ins…

    1.7

2.8-3.0 Stephen King is my Hero !

  • Glue

I’m watching this for Britt. She’s so freaking awesome :). I can’t wait for the show

  • BigBrotherFan

I think the novelty of Stephen King doesn’t have nowhere near the pull it used to..

    1.4

    “doesn’t have nowhere”

Thank you for giving me a good laugh today.

    2.1

    CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!!!

  • TV Viewer

It has been announced that the series will mention the Simpsons movie at sometime during it’s run. While the Stephen King book was written before the film, many people have seen the movie, and so they will refer to the film sometime during the series run.

If the Blackhawks and Bruins were competing under the dome, I would watch the show but I will stick to live television tonight. It could be marginally entertaining seeing a cow sliced in half by the dome (vs the woodchuck from the original King story).

  • Tihomir

    MORE THAN 3.0. :D Optimistic.

  • HalCapone

This story is based on Stephen King book and I believe Steven Spielberg is an executive producer, the television adaption was written by a former writer of LOST—so, there are some impressive credentials attached to this Dome but that is never, ever a guarantee of high ratings. NPR interviewed someone connected with this series behind the scenes (can’t remember if he was a producer or director) who was hoping for this to be picked up as a long running series. He even joked how serious the situation would become when those trapped under the dome ran out of coffee. That would indeed be frightening.

It’ll get 0.4 and move to NBC next week.
