Under the Dome

No summer series has been more highly anticipated than Under the Dome. Based on a bestselling Stephen King novel, executive produced by A-list showrunner Neal Baer and with a cast that includes Dean Norris, Rachelle Lefevre and Britt Robertson, this is one summer show that isn't debuting after the official end of the season because of a lack of network confidence. It's intended to be a big event. So how big do you think its premiere tonight will be?  Make your predictions below.

1.9, acceptable but no ratings bonanza.

  • Pepper

I’m excited, I hope it gets at least a 1.8 but I expect it to fall and settle at between a 1.4-1.6 for the rest of the summer

“with a cast that includes Dean Norris, Rachelle Lefevre and Britt Robertson”

Is this cast supposed to excite me? I mean Britt Robertson?

  • Dennis

    @Rob60990

Maybe give it a try, take a break from all of those abcFAM shows, you don’t fit their demo of teen girls anyway ;)

  • DJB

@TV viewer. I’m pretty sure The Simpson’s movie was out before King wrote the book.

  • Dennis

    @DJB

King wrote the first draft in the 70’s so…..

Stephen started Under the Dome in 1976 but it was titled The Cannibals. It was about people locked in an apartement but King gave up after 75 pages. In 2007 King wrote a new novel based on the first chapter of The Cannibals which was released in 2009 as Under the Dome.

  • Dennis

” It is a partial rewrite of a novel King attempted to write twice in the late 1970s and early 1980s, under the titles The Cannibals and Under the Dome. As King stated on his official site, these two unfinished works “were two very different attempts to utilize the same idea, which concerns itself with how people behave when they are cut off from the society they’ve always belonged to.”

let’s hope that Britt Robertson does not bring the bad karma here too. :D

  • neJANIS

I dont think that it will get higher than 2.0.
It could be a hit in fall season, but not in summer.
But since it is miniseries who cares?

  • Parker

wow this is really going to be interesting. the predictions are all over the place.

I’m going with a 1.8 for the premiere.

  • Josh

Should be interesting and with that super bowl ad i think it should be a 2.7 then adjust up to 2.8

I actually feel really bad for her. She’s a solid actress and is always involved in good shows.. She doesn’t deserve it. I hope this is a success though.

  • Nick

1.7. You all are far too optimistic.

  • PsychicCaramel

1.6 and pretty much DOA – if it already wouldn’t be a mini series.

  • Joe

Let’s not forget that the premiere debuts during the Possible final game of the Stanley Cup. I also think that because its a mini-series it wont get many viewers, because lets face it the only REALLY successful mini-series was Roots. And Roots was on 30 years ago. so I think maybe a 1.6

  • The End

    >But since it is miniseries who cares?
    >13 episodes

    Mini series?

  • Joseph

The premiere of “Under The Dome” will only get about a 1.0 in the 18-49 demo.

You can blame the Stanley Cup Finals for the low number.

But Episode 2 may well get at least a 2 in that same demo, maybe more.

    The show may yet succeed.

^LMAO, Ultima where are you? :D

Sci-fi shows don’t interest me but thanks for being a stereotypical jerk in the year 2013.
