Rob60990, what happened to your prognostication skills? Yesterday you said of UTD ” It’ll be lucky to crack a 1.5. 1.2 is my guess”.

Any reason you think you were so far off?

  • Justin121

Under the Dome is supposed to be a miniseries, people.

It’s not coming back next summer or fall.

Not every successful series needs to be brought back for a second round.

It Mistresses keeps good ratings it might come back next summer.

  • verus

Those are some impressive numbers for “Under the Dome”. Hope it stays strong next week.

  • HalCapone

I am eating a little crow in my Dome predictions. I thought Dome would do much worse. It’s not bad science fiction/fantasy television and it is a thousand times better than any reality show, in addition to being much better than Revolution (which has set the science fiction/fantasy bar so low). Than being said, I hope CBS doesn’t try to turn this into a long run series if it stays somewhat true to the original book. Putting too many soapy elements into the story at the expense of moving the mystery along will just burden the story arch. Science fiction on CBS is just plain startling (and probably annoying every cranky CBS viewer in every nursing home across the country). I agree with the other comment that CBS would never risk something like this on their risk-free predictable Fall sched.

  • BlueAndGreenHair (former BigFlop)

Castle and Blacklist will be in trouble if CBS changes its schedule.
I predict it will be Castle final season and Blacklist DOA.

Under the dome, amazing numbers !!

  • Ram510

They should move Under the Dome to Tuesdays so it could have Big Brother as a lead in instead of comedy repeats

  • Alan Perry

Very happy to see the numbers for UTD!

    Also, WTG Hawks!!!

  • Vcoolwater

I don’t understand why people jumping the gun. Maybe the ratings will decrease as time progresses. Both Revolution and the Following premiere to big numbers. Both show saw big drop later. Same thing can happen to under the dome.

  • zodd

UTD is okay, the acting is the worse thing about the show.

  • The End

I admit, I goofed, but more on my wording and slight exaggeration. I stand by my comments entirely that there are dozens of shows out there that don’t sign up the cast to long deals initially. That was my point mostly. The whole 5 year thing isn’t standard to every show on the air, and I don’t have a clue where that came from.

One example of dozens I can give the Terra Nova cast were initially given 1 year deals(Network example).

The Stargate SG1/Atlantis/Universe cast were given yearly deals(Cable example).

Regardless of what the final numbers are ,, Those are really great numbers for UTD !

As for the Fall of 2013 , I saw a bit of the extended pilot for ” The Crazy Ones ” , the show has every thing it needs to go forward across multiple seasons ,

The show coming next Fall , that I pray gets some serious extra attention would be , The Millers , I really hope that what Will Arnett , Beau Bridges , and Margo Martindale bring to the table is not wasted , this could be amazing with the right writers ,

  • CBSviewer

A 3.3 is pretty good considering it airs during summer with virtually no lead-in. The premiere is the 3rd highest rated drama premiere on CBS this season after NCIS (4.1) and NCIS: Los Angeles (3.4).
I think Under the Dome will be back next summer because it looks like a money maker for CBS. When a Show is created, producers always think about future seasons.

  • JQ

Actually the producers have said the show is being written as if it’s the first season of a multi-season show, not a mini series. And with numbers like this, a second season seems very possible.

  • No_Lie

8+ million viewers for hockey on a Monday night in late June is outstanding. To think otherwise is to be completely ignorant.

  • Observer

@The End, where did you read that the SG actors were given 1 year deals? I’ve always heard they either had 5 or 6 year contracts (I’ve read mostly about Torri Higgenson’s or Amanda Tapping’s contracts for various reasons).

  • John A

Great for Under The Dome. The show itself is average. But Mike Vogel is hot so i’ll continue to watch.

  • Observer

    Sorry, spelled Higginson wrong.

  • The End

Later on in the shows run, especially with Stargate Atlantis the shows cast were signed up with each new season.

Apologies for muddling my statement a bit prior. As said I was mostly just saying that people aren’t initially given long deals with every show on the air even.

  • platypus Perry

I must say CBS it was a very smart and strategic move to place Big Bang Theory in the full 9 hour slot to lead in to Under the Dome. Very nice #s in demo and viewers for a Summer Premiere!!!

ABC must be a little happy that the under performing Summer Edition of Bachelorette scored a 2.0.

Carrie horrible as always the least it could muster is a .02 , and why is this show getting a 13 episode renewal on Fridays while the Nikita fans only get 6 LMFAO!!!!!

I never defend Nikita but although the fans should appreciate a short renewal, the CW pretty much spit in the Nikita fans face at the Upfronts by giving carrie the friday slot and double the episodes.

  • platypus Perry

Also I watched on a show where the Under the Dome writers said it could be a multi-season show of 13 episodes each If the network CBS is happy with the ratings.

They also said it will be treated as a 13 episode series until the show signs of ratings stability.
