MIAMI – JUNE 25, 2013- “Boxeo Telemundo” continues its summer season with its second marquee fight on Friday, June 28 at 11:35PM/10:35C as Joan “Little Tyson” Guzman and Vicente Mosquera face off in a can’t-miss bout with the WBA Junior Welterweight World Title on the line. The Kissimmee Civic Center in Kissimmee, Florida will witness a clash between two former WBA world champions who want to reclaim their place at the top of the sport. Rene Giraldo, Jessi Losada and Karim Mendiburu will be calling the action and will also be interacting with fans on social media throughout the fight.
Guzman represents the Dominican Republic with an overall record of 33-1-1 with 20 knockouts and will seek to redeem himself after suffering the only loss of his career so far against Russian Khabib Allakhverdiev for the WBA Super Lightweight Title on November 30 of last year. Back then, Guzman fractured his knee in the eighth round and lost in a narrow split decision by the judges. Before that fight, Guzman’s record in world title fights had been an impressive 7-1-1 with 2 KO’s.
Mosquera is currently ranked sixth in the WBA rankings and boasts a 32-2-1 career record with 17 knockouts on his resumé. The Puerto Caimito, Panama native had been arrested for driving under the influence in July of 2011m but he has bounced back since then and is undefeated with eight wins in the same number of fights since his return to the ring in February 2012.
Only one of these two fighters will be crowned champion on “Boxeo Telemundo”, home to the best Latin boxers.
