I watch GH on YouTube those three newbies are killing the rating right now, Gh need more Traci and Luke, Lucy Coe, get rid of all those fakes out of the Quartermaine mansion. Maybe then I will return to watch on TV.

  • robert

Glad all the soaps are up from last year, but GH tying a record low is not good news, especially for a network that wants to get rid of soaps. What has happened with General Hospital. The last month has been beyond terrible. Gh has been garbage since the 50th anniversary episode. I think General Hospital needs a new head writer.

  • What

GH is a hot mess just cancel it or change headwriters already because its ridiculous. Stupid ass three actors from OLTL coming back as new characters is a joke they were not needed at all! The headwriter is obviously obsessed with his oltl pets CANCELATION SOON and they fired kelly Sullivan wow

  • Dee

@What I totally agree with you!

  • Mike

    LaLa….whoever you are

Show me the proof that Katie has been cancelled. Fox News which hates Katie Couric anyway says the show might be cancelled but yet failed to provide one source they could name…only sources close to Katie or ABC. It’s funny that people who normally balk at anything that comes out of Fox News are now claiming this as fact when Fox News can’t even state it as fact.

There are rumors that Katie is going to CNN when her show ends. But the only thing that has been confirmed was on Jan 30 in USA Today and online that Katie was renewed for one more season.

And by the way get things straight before you come on as a know it all. Katie is not my talk show. There is not any talk show that I call my talk show. The only 2 that I watch on any regular basis are The Talk and Graham Norton. I sometime watch Katie when she has a guest I like and the same for The Chew, Jay Leno, Dr. Oz, Jimmy Kimmel, and David Letterman.

I am just not a soap fan who limits myself by wanting them all gone just because of what they are. Some talk shows don’t deserve to be watched but also some soaps don’t deserve to be watched either. When any show fails to entertain it needs to go and be replaced by something that will. And that includes game shows, cooking shows, soap operas, dramas, comedies, whatever.

It’s just like soap fans now refusing to watch AMC and OLTL on Oprah because she didn’t save the soaps 2 years ago. Well a lot of good that is going to do. This is a good chance to save those 2 shows. By not watching all they are doing is guaranteeing the shows not to get a TV deal and lead them back to cancellation. Some soap fans are just too immature for their own good.

If their that crazy about them then why didn’t they go out and borrow the money to save them.

I’ve run a General Hospital website for six years and June and July are notoriously lower than low as far as page hits. My page hits go the way the ratings go, so I can always tell what kind of ratings they’re going to get. This past week for some reason there was a big spike on Friday, which is very unusual but the rest of the week was so pathetic it doesn’t matter. It’s just the way it is during the summer.

  • Jocelyn

Katie hasn’t been cancelled. It’s the number one new talk show in syndication.

@What A head writer change won’t save GH. The EP needs to go too. Frank Valentini is the one that fought to bring the OLTL actors to GH. The obsession with OLTL won’t end unless the EP & HW are replaced. Also, the show looks horrible. His generic production model is killing this soap.

  • Philip

    @Jocelyn. What website is that?

  • JayTN

I have never been a regular viewer of GH, but my main complaint (as a casual, maybe twice a month, viewer) is the opening credits. I know it may seem trivial, and the opening credits have been phased out for a lot of primetime shows, but GH seems to have the worst opening credits of any daytime soap. But, with the credits only being, what 5 to 10 seconds long, there isn’t much you can do to improve it.

Y&R and B&B both have the best opening credits, in my opinion, as they are a bit longer and feature photos of the actors and their names/characters. I don’t really have a problem with the credits for “Days”, but they spinning hour glass and voice over (who happens to be deceased for many years) seem old fashioned. If I were designing an opening for “Days”, I would keep the voice over (if for no other reason than nostalgia) but zoom in on the hour glass and show the grains of sand actually falling down, but have photos of the cast members on the grains, similar to the old photo album openings for AMC or the rotating globe made up of photos on “As the World Turns”.

I think a lot of people in Hollywood underestimate the importance of an opening credit. How many people when thinking of a dearly departed television series immediately think of the opening credits? Whether it be the Cosby clan dancing on “The Cosby Show”, the revolving camera highlighting dinner on “Roseanne”, the plane flying across the sun on “The Golden Girls”, the cast of “Friends” splashing around in the fountain, or the old timey photos on “Cheers”? An opening credit is a quick and easy way to introduce a stranger to your show, and we all know what they say about how many chances you get to make a first impression.

GH may have shown some life this week. Best ep this week was Wednesday where we got Luke, Tracy, Laura, Mac, Felicia, Anna, Duke and no Franco BS. Where is Monica and her kicking these Fake Qs out of her house?

I agree that the newbies and reanimated OLTL three are tanking the show.

GH saw its highest ratings when? Jan/Feb when we had Robert on the scene. No one else see the connection?

  • What

Only people enjoying GH fans of the holy three who were already in love with Starr/Todd/John. It kills me that frank did everything possible for those three to come back but couldn’t keep steve burton, brandon barash, julie berman. I know I know they left on their own but why did they leave? It’s obvious theres something very wrong with GH if everyone is leaving. And don’t get me started on them firing kelly sullivan and giving lisa locicero a contract no one wants to see sonny and Olivia been there done that! didn’t work

  • Hi

Ron C is a such a dramatic queen on twitter

  • Jack

I think a lot of viewers went to the beach.

  • joshua

    General Hospital is just terrible.

  • marie

i must be one of the few who actually enjoy the oltl characters on gh. They r not the problem. Characters like dante, lulu, olivia, kate, connie just r not interesting or the people just cant act but they r ur problems. Also the recycling of the paternity switch storylines really do get old and doing it with brit who again adds nothing to the show makes thr storyline awful. The teen story is horrific and sonny, carly, spinelli and sam all seem lost without jason.

  • Bex

It’s such a shame GH is letting Kelly go, she’s a wonderful actress. The DID storyline went on for far too long, and rather than move her into another story, they fire her. I wouldn’t be surprised if JT, and KS follow suit.

I think I read Jason Thompson is doing a fan event with Steve Burton, he better be careful, everyone that was in Steve’s circle on GH were let go. lol

  • Bex

Saying Kelly Sullivan is a bad actress is laughable, she made that role her own. Micheal (one dimensional) Easton, and that squawking bird Kristen Alderson on the other hand…

  • Bex

All these ‘new’ posters popping up.

  • jr YOU WING

I have been watching GH since the 1960s. What is being placed on tv now on a daily basis is pathetic. This garbage acting of Molly and TJ is a disgrace. The coupling of Alexis and Shawn is a disgrace. The Drake and the Bobby soxer? Yuck! Pickle-Lila? The 3 OLTL actors are pathetic in their roles and the fact that no human in Port Charles knows that they looked exactly like 3 other people? The writers of GH think that Britch and Felix matter. Get them off the show. Get Jason back and pay him his salaried demands. Toooooooooo much AJ and Elizabeth overacting as well. Luke has become a clown. The entire show radiates stupidity. I hate it now. Fire the writers. Go on tv and admit it was a mistake, and tell the audience we are pulling a Pam Ewing and the entire prior 4 months have been a dream in Lulu’s frozen head and never really happened. Dallas is where it’s at GH fans. Start watching it next year for season 3. It’s writing the way it’s supposed to be. You will love it! Trust me.
