Under the Dome

Want to know how that pesky dome works in CBS's new drama Under the Dome? The network has released a handy chart that explains the "rules" of the dome. Memorize it and see if the show sticks to the laws of its universe as the series continues.

via press release:

Rules of Under the Dome

  • JR35

    Love it. :)

  • Kangarookeeper

How about people will go crazy sooner or later under the dome?

  • Tom

Good to know. This explains why they wouldn’t all eventually suffocate.

  • TV Addict

The show is SO different from the book. For some, they legit used the same first names of characters in the books and made brand new characters in the show. I still like it, but it is soooo different.

  • Shabbir

how about dig your way out. doh.

  • MichaelChickless

Two men enter, one man leaves.

Oh, wait, that’s the rule for Thunderdome.

  • sam

The simpsons movie > under the dome

  • Anna Bones Clarkwood

Most of these rules are redundant with each other & already duh rules.

Climate includes clouds & wind, duh. Plus of course, the outside climate doesn’t effect the inside.

Radio Signals need the outside to bounce off of, thus no cell/wifi/tv, duh.

As far as trace amounts of water aka semipermeable, now that is going to be interesting to see applied.

Why would it only shock you once? Do you adapt to it? If so, why does it shock at all? Also, duh those with battery operated equipment shouldn’t touch it.

I wonder more about such things as does the area have enough farmland & what about places to go to the bathroom? Also, for continuity sakes, do they have their own power for fridge/microwave, playing video games/watching movies on dvd/vcr, what about coffee?

  • Dan S

No TV, Wi-Fi or telephone service ? That’s absolutely barbaric. Maybe they’re part of a covert Govt. operation or trapped by aliens. This is definitely 1 of the best new series this year so far. Curious if it would’ve done just as well in the fall ? I’m sure it’ll definitely be back next year after its initial 13 episode order is complete.

  • Connman

I wonder if the Enterprise could beam someone through the Dome??? I’m not trying, just wondering…

  • Mike

I wonder if they’ll have a legitimate explanation why FM radio appears to work but TV doesn’t, considering they’re almost exactly the same part of the EMF spectrum?

  • Ekras

Mike – because the radio transmission tower is inside the dome. There are no TV towers I guess…..

  • Tom

“what about places to go to the bathroom?”

    Hint: Watch out for splinters!

  • The End

Should of all switched to cable prior to the dome appearing ;)

That’s all underground and what not..

  • kylE

so digging is out of the question. wait nope not yet. I like the wind it pissed me off when I saw wind. I was like how can sound be stopped but wind go through. This list is called we cant film this inside.

Well, we are mostly water so ;)

I do find it to be a bit too close to the ground to form clouds. Perhaps the dome itself is alive and that is why it gives people one courtesy warning shock. If there are no mobile phone towers under the dome then that would make sense but are there zero landline phones under the dome? Or is the exchange located on the other side of the dome. Still, most places have telephone cables underground so unless the dome actually penetrates the ground and severs those lines they should work.

This all seems to be requiring the absence of basic logic while requiring us to view it logically. Too many contradictions and redundancies. I was turned off just for thinking about why wouldn’t they dig underneath it or use the sewers but now these new rules for the dome take it too far for me.

  • AniMatsuri

The only likable character gets killed off demonstrating the sub-clause of rule #1.

  • CBSviewer

They forgot the most important rule: Never fall Under a 3.0 and everything will be OK. lol

  • Jacob

20, 000 feet altitude is 2 close 2 the ground? Did you know the goodyear blimps hanger has a micro climate? I bet the dome goes as far underground then it does altitude so start digging

  • Simon Jester

@kyLI – This list is called we cant film this inside.

    Ha ha, exactly.
