My prediction was right. Way to go Under the Dome, sincerely hope the show will maintain high ratings in the following weeks

I’m expecting a bigger decline for Under the Dome next week. The second episode was terrible and one storyline seems both unnecessary and misuses an actress with a decent following in the target demo. I can’t see this being the number it stabilizes at after such a terrible episode. People are gonna bail after this one.

I think questions about renewal might be misplaced. More like, will they do another Stephen King novel mini-series and will it be during the regular season or another summer event next year.

It’s kind of sad when a repeat of New Girl gets an equal rating of the now cancelled Cleveland Show airing 2 hours earlier on a Sunday. When New Girl got 2-2.8 this season and the Cleveland Show got more 1-1.8 this season.

  • Phlox

I thought Under the Dome was 13 something? Adjusted up?

CBS finally has a non-procedure show, and its a hit…. CBS LOOK! The younger crowd doesn’t like ur boring cop shows.

  • Tiger Bandit

Pretty disappointed with the second episode of Under the Dome.

Why is it so hard to make a good sci-fi TV Show?

Battlestar and Lost are the last two great sc-fi shows.

I think the writers just don’t think out of the box enough.

I do believe that having to have a cliff-hanger on every commercial is a problem, but come on. The writers need to have more unexpected stuff happen.

For example, the next episode of Under the Dome should have something like these things.

    1) A Space shuttle land inside the dome out of no-where
    2) AS gigantic hole form in the middle of the town

    etc. etc

My estimate of 2.9 was correct. I said earlier that I hope it’ll drop to 2.4 next week, but it’ll probably only drop to 2.6. Then 2.4, 2.2, before it settles at the 1.9/2.0 mark.

I know people want to love UTD, but do y’all really think this plot is sustainable? The weakest parts in the pilot really brought down the strongest elements, so much so that I wasn’t invested. And I give shows the benefit of the doubt way past when I should give up, usually.

  • Networkman

My only concern for the CBS network is that I’m not certain Hostages will do better than what Under the Dome is doing at this moment. I’m not really optimistic about the show, as far as how young skewing it will be. Of course Hostages will have more competition facing Blacklist. But I feel Under the Dome would be more competitive and have a shot at winning the time period if it were airing this Fall than Hostages.

    Go Under the Dome!

  • Ewaut

Really don’t want to watch more than the miniseries about the little village under the dome. They’ll just stretch the story out, which won’t be great for the quality of the series. Please don’t renew it, as it’s great as it is.

  • Tw

I think that Under the Dome should not be extended.

I’m an apologist of this concept of “limited series”. The serie is programmed for a limited number of episodes with a closed end and without silly extensions.

If all series were like that, we will not have our prefered tv-serie canceled without a decent end.

  • r0ckmypants

Oh, some of you commenters… you make me laugh.

When the preliminaries came out, a 2.8 was “OUCH!” from many of you. But a single tenth adjustment up, and it’s a huge hit.

Can someone’s please explain to me how you can fairly compare summer series ratings in a certain time slot with fall series in the same times lot? Is there the same level of first-viewed competition to go up against in the summer as there is in the fall/winter?

I seem to remember Revolution debuting last fall to huge numbers, being touted as the season’s big new hit…and then spiraling down week after week to comments saying without it’s lead ins it would never be able to stand on it’s own. It’s now moved out of the Monday 10pm slot. Competition is the name of the game! Something that’s a huge success during the summer might not be such a big deal in the fall! I say be happy it’s airing during the summer – enjoy it now, be grateful you have new programming that’s not a bunch of idiots living together in a big fake house. I like the idea of UTD finishing it’s 13 ep run, then moving on next summer to a different Stephen King novel, myself.

  • The End

@J.J. Abrams already plans to create a TV Show based on “11/22/63?. But, so far, didn’t sell it to any network

He needs to be careful with what shows he associates with, he’s had a few flops in his time.

  • The End

@Especially since it gets higher ratings than most of Shows airing during the Season

Call me crazy but I personally think they should just give it a back 9 order and let it run. And delay whatever show is scheduled to air in that same timeslot to a later date.

  • Andrew

Under The Dome held up pretty well, as I expected.

American Ninja Warrior did surprisingly well for NBC, especially being in the Summer.

Was that the last episode of Goodwin Games? I sure hope not. I wish then would add another couple of episodes to wrap up the story to see who won since the show is not coming back (I wish FX or FXX would pick it up).

  • CBSviewer

    @ The End

A back 9 order is a good idea but I think the Show should keep the Monday 10PM slot. Hostages looks good but it will not last last long.

  • Jon

I have watched two episodes of under the dome. I’m not overwhelmed by it thus far, but it’s summer so I will watch it. If it wasn’t summer I’m not sure It would be a part of my regular viewing schedule. People are so starved for scripted tv in the summer, that this show has become a big hit. It’s living proof that people will still watch tv in the summer if you give them something to watch.

  • Patrick G

Glad to see “Under the Dome” doing so will with not too much viewership drop-off from its premiere. These numbers are HUGE for a summer show! They’re even very good for the regular season, though I suspect the series will slowly drop over time. I’m just not sure how long the premise can hold up as a TV series? I was very disappointed when I read that this was a full 13-episode season as opposed to the summer mini-series I first thought it was. And if the cause of the dome matches the cause in the book, viewers will start fleeing in droves! As we’ve seen time and again, sci-fi doesn’t work on network TV, as unfortunate as that may be. In any case, I wish it well ;)

Mistresses is a very badly written show. And as for AM I hated her on charmed they should have kept shannon and replaced alyssa with rose instead holly rose and shannon played much more interesting witches.
