2013 BET Awards - Show

The BET Awards was the number one show on cable Sunday, earning a 3.4 adults 18-49 rating.  True Blood was second with a 2.2  adults 18-49 rating, even with last week.

Dexter
earned a 1.2 adults 18-49 rating for its season 8 premiere. Your Predictions were too optimistic.

We only receive the top 100 cable shows for adults 25-54 for the whole day from our principal source. If you don’t see an original episode of a show here, it’s because it wasn’t in the top 100.

The list below is long but you can use your browsers "find on page" feature (usually CTRL+F or CMD+F) to search for specific shows.

Well, at least Falling Skies is holding steady and good news that it got renewed for a fourth season

  • Juan

Sam, LJ’s proved he’s capable of learning. You’ve proved you’re not.

LJ admitted the fact that because the 11.3m & 12.6m fig’s came from basically the same source, my argument held considerable weight. All of his #’s for True Blood’s seasonal cum avg’s short-changed the value of the finale’s & neglected a sizeable post season bump over the next 6 mo’s.

He basically conceded, that the odds are the HR May, 2013 report was referring to True Blood having a seasonal cum avg over 13.4m so he took the next logical step.

If True Blood could experience such big jumps post season, why wouldn’t GoT?
He neglected the fact that True Blood immediately follows GoT & that there ar e 8 mo’s separating True Blood & GoT. True Blood is obviously going to experience a bigger post season jump.

  • samurai99

Lj admitted no such thing, and you need to stop living in denial. I posted an article from vulture from last month that showed true bloods peak was 13 million in season 3, and that game of thrones has already beaten that. You have failed to post anything actual numbers for true blood after season 2 because they all prove you wrong.

  • Juan

Sam, you are not just slow but stupid.

Entertainment Weekly: True Blood A Network Gets Its Bite Back By Lynette Rice | Jan 01, 2010

In addition to a third season of Blood next summer (which, at a cumulative 12.6 million viewers per episode, is already the network’s second-most-watched drama ever behind Sopranos)

That’s as factual as it gets. The rest is math using comparative ratios. It’s above your capability.

  • Mike

Another great episode of Copper (a shame about the S2 ratings if they even exist).

  • Jay

What a surpise seeing Juan post false info about GOT and TB. Again, he is the first one to instigate things by taking a pot shot at the show even though before there was no mention of anyone bashing TB. All to make TB seem better even though it has fallen in ratings again in its third week and will do so in the 4th of July weekend. I think in the end the season finale will just top in at 4.5 million LOL for its season peak. I don’t care much for encores and if you do you may as well include total weeklys

  • Juan

There is nothing false about quotes from HR, Variety, & EW. So once again you resort to lying because you have nothing else to offer. You obviously are still sporting over the fact that TB’s S5 finale drew more total viewers on the night than GoT’s S3. No one’s ever been able to find what the weekly totals for those finales were but the assumption is as goes the encore so goes the rest of the delayed views. TB’s encore beat GoT’s by 40%. There’s nothing false about those #’s as they are available at this site.

So far TB’s competition has all been in the 3.5 18-49 range or better. I will wait to see what it does when that competition falls below 3.0 before giving my prediction for the finale. In the absence of weekly totals, nightly totals is 2nd best. The premiere ratings don’t matter much for a network that has no use for commercial ratings.

  • samurai99

Your ‘comparative ratios’ are complete and utter crap Juan. Lj and I have both posted true bloods real numbers provided by hbo showing true blood never topped 13 million viewers. And your lying about the season 5 finale getting more viewers as well.

  • Juan

Do you realize you sound like a 5 yr old? Maybe you are just that stupid when it comes to math & incapable of simple addition. As reported at THIS site:
    True Blood S5 finale: 5049+1228 = 6277
    Got S3 finale: 5393+879 = 6272

The most credible reference to TB’s S2 cum avg is the EW, Jan, 2010 story. S2’s cum avg was 12.6m. You have to be stupid to believe S3 only produced a 3% gain in cum avg.

  • Juan

This is the 2nd source confirming the cum avg for True Blood S2.

tvbythenumbers True Blood averages 12.4 million per episode across platforms in second season Written By Robert Seidman September 19th, 2009

    TB’s S2 finale was Sept 13th, 2009.

thedailybeast The Summer’s Best TV Aug 27th, 2010.

    WINNER: True Blood (HBO)
True Blood is this summer’s true winner, giving the pay cable channel its first bona fide ratings hit since the days of The Sopranos. The third season launched with 5.1 million viewers in June, a 38 percent increase over the second season. Over seven days, an average of 13.2 million viewers sank their teeth into True Blood.

Given that the story is dated on Aug, 27, 2010 it couldn’t possibly include the cum’s for the final 2 ep of that season.

    The premiere ratings for that season were (mils) 5.09, 4.26, 4.46, 4.68, 4.86, 4.74, 5.24, 5.09, 5.00, 5.39 (Aug 22, 2010).

The next two ep were 5.44 (highest of the season) on Aug 29th, 2010 & 5.38 for the season finale.

You have to be math stupid to think the cum avg declines from 13.2 after adding in the #’s from the final two eps.

  • POIFanatic

Juan thinks HBO is lying about its own numbers and gives arbitrary numbers. Lets give the guy some space. He needs to be in his own imaginary world.

  • Juan

Comparing this Sun’s #’s vs same wk in 2012, the BET Awards gained while everything else declined. The True Blood premiere fell about 400k from 2012 mainly due to Dexter’s direct competition. True Blood did not face Dexter on that wk in 2012.

It’s no surprise that Dexter would have such an effect on True Blood’s premiere, but that doesn’t mean it hurt True Blood’s cum avg this season as much. As Variety reported & THIS site referenced for TB’s S2 7D cum avg, the premiere accounted for just 24% of the cum avg.

  • Juan

Here’s another source confirming True Blood’s 13.2m cum avg for S3 as early as July, 22nd 2010.

nypost ‘True Blood’ shoots down ‘Sopranos’ By CLAIRE ATKINSON Last Updated: 4:48 AM, July 22, 2010

First-season DVD sales of “True Blood,” from creator Alan Ball stand at 1.3 million, HBO said — about 37 percent more than the 943,000 DVDs of “The Sopranos” first season. It is about three times the number of disks for another HBO hit, “Sex And The City,” which sold 426,000 season one DVDs.

close to beating the final season of “The Sopranos” in gross audience, with an average 13.2 million compared with 14.2 million for ‘Sopranos.’

  • Juan

The nypost story was referencing these premiere #’s:
    5.09, 4.26, 4.46, 4.68, 4.86 (July 18th).
The rest of the season produced a much higher avg:
    4.74, 5.24, 5.09, 5.00, 5.39, 5.44, & 5.38.

You have to be stupid to believe the cum avg did not grow from the 13.2m fig quoted by multiple highly credible sources during that season.

  • Juan

And finally there is the horse’s mouth:
    haaretz: Life after Tony Soprano
An interview with top HBO execs Richard Plepler and Michael Lombardo.
    By Ruta Kupfer | Feb.11, 2011

According to Lombardo, top HBO shows enjoy high viewer rates – “True Blood” has 13.5 million viewers, and “Boardwalk Empire” has 11 million viewers on average, out of 30 million subscribers.

  • Andrew

Dexter and Ray Donovan were good.

I’m surprised the BET Awards did so well. Did they feature any black people in rock, or just hip hop/R&B?

Soccer got the same demo as NASCAR with half the viewers. It shows how young skewing soccer is and is good news for the future of the sport.

I’m guessing Nick is gone for the summer, so I’m wondering where I can get ratings for Travel Channel shows (the first run shows) since they never seem to break the top 100. I’m also wondering where I can get ratings for Morgan Spurlock Inside Man on CNN. The episode on guns was really good.

  • samurai99

Just keep posting your lies Juan. We have it straight from hbo that your guy
    full of cheap.

  • No_Lie

@Andrew said – “Soccer got the same demo as NASCAR with half the viewers. It shows how young skewing soccer is and is good news for the future of the sport.”

Plus, soccer had nearly the same number of viewers as Sunday Night Baseball but got a 1.0 rating to baseball’s 0.6, another indication of how young soccer is skewing. I think that with NBC carrying 20 Premier League games this season on the main network in addition to dozens more on their cable channel, soccer is going to keep building all through the winter and result in big World Cup ratings next summer for ABC and ESPN.

  • Juan

No_Lie, the Kentucky race for NASCAR is one of the lowest draws of the season & the MLB game was nothing special. You are making an apples to oranges comparison to a Conf Cup match between World Cup favorites. If you want a more reasonable comparison use the Daytona 400 race this weekend & wait until the MLB all-star game in mid July.

@Sam, you have gone from being stupid to pathetically stupid but I’m sure that won’t stop you from writing further incoherent & licentious posts. Since you obviously don’t know, “my guy” as you call him is Michael Lombardo, President of programming at HBO. There is no more definitive word on the subject. The surprise in that quote is that Boardwalk Empire avg’d 11m in 2010.

  • samurai99

That’s funny Juan, because according to Michael Lombardo, the highest true blood ever did was 13 million. which is exactly what I said. Maybe you should just accept the fact that true blood is losing viewers.
