The-Walking-Dead-March-4-2012

In addition to barbeques, fireworks, and booze, The Fourth of July also gives Americans another annual pastime: the TV marathon! Last year, the NCIS marathon on USA bested Syfy's Twilight Zone marathon, but this year, there is a new contender: The Walking Dead. In addition to airing all three seasons (some in black and white) AMC's marathon will also feature new interviews with the cast, including some hints about season four.

So cast your vote below and tell us: which show will win the battle of the Fourth of July marathon? And what will you be watching?

I’ll definately check out The Walking Dead but I think NCIS will win this one. It’s a procedural…they always do better in reruns and it’s good summer fair.

  • Joseph

I won’t be watching any of the above.

Being in the Boston area, I’ll be tuning into the Boston pops’ July 4th concert and fireworks show, which while televised in Boston, will not be televised nationally this year.

In fact, I think that the only nationally-broadcast program on either cable or broadcast tomorrow (July 4th) that will draw more than two million viewers will be the expanded Macy’s Fireworks show on NBC.

This “Fourth” may well set a mark for the fewest people to watch TV (combining broadcast and cable) on that date in decades.

    The Walking Dead obviously ;)

The Walking Dead will blow them all away among adults. I don’t know it you would want kids watching this show, it’s very intense and bloody, with very adult themes (without the nudity).

  • romo

    None theyre all reruns.

  • JoshuaCanada

Walking dead will win. It will be the only one I check out since AMC is the only one of the channels that these marathons are on that is available in Canada I want to see some black and white episodes since I passed on them in regular season since my DVR was already pounded with tons of shows on Thursdays.

In regards to what Joseph wrote:

Last year, a repeat episode of NBC’s NYC fireworks show really hurt the CBS’ Boston fireworks show in the ratings, so the Boston fireworks will only be shown to Boston residents this year (or those who watch it on their computers). CBS will air a repeat episode of Person of Interest from 10 to 11.

I used to watch the PBS Capital Fourth Washington DC fireworks from 8 to 9:15, the NBC Macy’s NYC July fireworks from 9:15 to 10, and then the CBS Boston Pops fireworks from 10 to 11. The Macy’s NYC fireworks are the biggest fireworks display in the country.

I am disappointed that CBS will not be airing the Boston Pop’s this year, but, ratings are important, even on July 4.

    @None theyre all reruns

We know. Get in the spirit of things, we’re voting on who will win.

I’ll be trying to catch up on my recorded programming. I’m almost to November of last year.

  • Andrew

Is AMC going to air the complete first season of The Walking Dead on July 4? If so, this may be the perfect time for me to get into Walking Dead. I won’t be home on the 4th, but I’ll DVR it.

I predict this Walking Dead marathon will win the day/night, while NBC will win the night on broadcast with Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks (except for maybe the repeat of BBT on CBS) as every other English net will be in repeats.

  • gg

Most likely TWD but its still TTZ for me.

  • RJ

The Walking Dead put up around 0.6′s in its Thursday repeat timeslot, but I feel like NCIS will do better. I dunno though; it’ll be close between the two.

  • romo

    To the end:

The question on top says “what will you watch?” thats why i said none.

Maybe instead of being on this site you should take a reading skills class.

    @room

    Look at the poll ;)

  • Hardline_Pro

I don’t get the appeal of watching them in black & white…

  • Tyson

“None” counts as “Something else” so it’s a viable option. I predict NCIS will win though.

  • Jay

I’m watching the Twilight Zone marathon so I just voted for that.

  • thesnowleopard

Ooh, thanks for reminding me about The Twilight Zone.

I figure The Walking Dead will win, but that doesn’t mean I’ll be watching it. I lost interest after season one.

  • snoot

I’ll be watching the twilight zone. Hoping it wins!

  • Josh

Walking Dead will win but i won’t be watching this year!
