This is just wonderful for the soap & those that work so hard to make it successful! I DO WISH NBC would give them encouragement (especially in light of the show winning the DAYTIME EMMY for BEST DAYTIME DRAMA) by renewing it through December 2015, so it would be assured of airing for its 50th ANNIVERSARY on November 8, 2015. Otherwise, the Corday Productions has to live day-to-day wondering what the future of the series will be after September 2014. Come on NBC, give them a break for a change!

I am thrilled that Days of Our Lives is once again on top…They have a great group of actors and the writing is excellent…I have been a faithful viewer since they first aired and there have been many ups and downs, but now they have found the right combination. NBC should acknowledge this excellent cast and crew…I hope the Corday leadership is appreciated…Keep up the good work…

  • Derrick

    Wow………Go DAYS!
    On a roll……

  • Bob

I really enjoy the shows on line now. If Days and the others were to be cancelled someday, I hope that they go to the on-line version at Prospect Park. I really enjoy them.

  • Mike

Good job Days. Glad to see rises in your demos this time too. That is the way it needs to be done.

As far as the renewal, even a long term renewal wouldn’t guarantee safety. Even the last renewal had outs in it. NBC is going to protect themselves at all costs.

Esp. with Ken Corday involved. Who knows when he will suddenly decide to fire the backstage personnel and hire Dena Higley back again.

The backstage struggle for power between NBC, Corday, and Sony for the last few years has been one of the most interesting things about Days. Who knows when it will rear its head again.

If they know what is good for them they’ll leave things alone for now.

  • Hugo

DAYS is really enjoyable right now, great writing and acting! They deserve those good ratings, they deserved even better ratings actually. If you never watched this show or if you stopped watching it, give it a try for a week, you won’t be disappointed.

  • Jeff

Good job Days. Don’t watch the show, but here’s hoping all the soaps have many, many years left of entertaining their fans. No need for haters of any of the soaps, let’s all be fans of the genre as there is enough success available for all of the soaps to succeed!

  • platypus Perry

Days had a good week then. I hope all soaps can rebuild an audience mainly for GH and DAYS since they’re typically placing in the #3 and #4 slots. It would be nice to see all soaps averaging 2.8 million and higher.

  • Ann

I’ll be glad when Chandler Massey leaves in December because I can’t stand the “Wilson” fans. They’ve gotten to be too much. Too obsessed and delusional. Many only care about Will & Sonny and not Days as a whole. I enjoy the Will & Sonny s/l but not their crazy fans. Plus I’d like to see Freddie get a chance to shine once CM leaves. Anyway, good news for Days, I hope they keep it up.

  • Sedgrick

I am not Happy about CM leaving but @Ann everybody have fans and most of them fans are watching Days and its making the ratings better cause Days is amazing but @Ann if anybody fans are crazy its the Ejami fans they act like Ejami is the best thing that has happened to the show since Bo and Hope and I hope that Freddie gets his chance to shine as an actor.

  • Jo

Hope Days makes it to the 60 year mark, don’t think any other soap has done that. Days has really improved in the last year, love it.

  • Mike

Guiding Light had a total run of 72 years. 57 of them were on TV.

As far as the couple thing, I wish all the crazy couple only fans would go away. And that defines many of them not just Wilson fans. With almost any couple you can find those edits on You Tube that edit out the whole show except for what features their favorite couple.

And you won’t believe the number of folks who only watch on You Tube to watch those edits.

Those are the types of things that are hurting the shows rating because the shows get nothing when folks watch on You Tube. At least if you watch online watch the whole show on the networks site. The show does get some ad revenue from those. They get nothing from You Tube.

Sony has started to force people who upload the full episode on youtube to shut down. The only way people can watch is if they upload short clips.I’m a huge fan but Danifer is not one of my favs so I’m glad for the short clips.

  • DryedMangoez

I’ve been watching on and off the last couple of years, but Daniel and Jennifer was probably the worst, most unlikeable pairings ever. What’s the appeal?

  • daniel

Days is terrible. It is like watching fake wrestling. The characters are not complex at all. You are either good or bad. Boring.

  • gene

“The characters are not complex at all. You are either good or bad. Boring.”

You obviously are not watching. Sami, Kate, Nicole, Gabi and even Kristen (to name a few) have many layers. They all do good things…and bad things when they have to. Even recently-arrived J.J. has a few shades of gray.

  • Mike

Sony should stop people from uploading full episodes on to You Tube. Days of Our Lives has the lowest budget of any of the soaps still on. It needs all the ad dollars it can get. It should even stop the short clips.

This would force people to watch live, DVR the show or watch on NBC’s site. At least if people watch there then the show has some chance of getting ad dollars for watching.

When folks watch on You Tube the show gets nothing out of it at all.

  • Yunni

I agree, Mike, but I’m grateful to be able to watch even short clips as I live abroad.

  • Laurie

I have to say that Days was excellent during May sweeps!! But it has lost a lot since then in my opinion! I am not a Jenn and Dan fan or EJ and Sami, and I do not like what they have done to John’s character! It’s been missing the “love” that made it soooo popular before…everyone is just obsessed with each other now and they are soooo in love with someone one minute and then a few months later, they have forgotten about that person and are soooo in love with someone else…I think it has been better, but I so much more enjoyed the “Days” of the late 80’s and early/mid 90’s…even though some of the storylines were outrageous, it was soooo entertaining!! I don’t think we will ever see the kind of couples today that we had back then…John & Marlena, Jack and Jennifer, Steve and Kayla…even if they are on our screen they don’t write them the same way that they did before…

  • hannah

euh Ok Sedgrick why bring Ej and Sami fans in this conversation..it is really silly. Enjoy the show or don’t enjoy but don’t target things that have NOTHING to do with the comments before; boring and tiring.
That being said good for Days, let’s hope they can maintain this, we will see if it is possible..viewers, ratings are fickle (i know i am lol).
