“FACE THE NATION” FINISHES FIRST IN VIEWERS FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE SECOND QUARTER AND POSTS ITS BEST SECOND QUARTER DELIVERY IN VIEWERS SINCE THE ADVENT OF PEOPLE METERS (1987)

“FACE THE NATION” IS UP +9% IN VIEWERS, +17% IN ADULTS 25-54 AND +10% IN HOUSEHOLDS COMPARED TO SECOND QUARTER 2012

In second quarter 2013, most current, CBS News’ FACE THE NATION WITH BOB SCHIEFFER is the #1 Sunday morning public affairs show, placing first in viewers, adults 25-54 – the demographic most important to those who advertise in news – and households, according to the most current Nielsen ratings. FACE THE NATION finished first in viewers for the second consecutive second quarter. FACE THE NATION also posted its best second quarter delivery in viewers since the advent of people meters (September 1987), in households since 2001 and in adults 25-54 since 2009.

 

In second quarter 2013, FACE THE NATION posted 3.05m viewers, 0.7/04 in adults 25-54 and 2.2/06 in households. Compared to second quarter 2012, FACE THE NATION is up +9% in viewers (from 2.80m), +17% in adults 25-54 (from 0.6/03) and +10% in households (from 2.0/06).

 

Television year-to-date, FACE THE NATION is first in viewers (3.17m), adults 25-54 (0.8/03) and households (2.3/06) among the Sunday morning public affairs programs. Television year-to-date, FACE THE NATION is up +9% in viewers (from 2.91m), +14% in adults 25-54 (from 0.7/03) and +10% in households (from 2.1/06) compared to last year.

 

On June 30, FACE THE NATION was first in viewers, adults 25-54 and households among the Sunday morning public affairs programs, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings. The CBS broadcast posted 2.70m viewers, 0.6/03 in adults 25-54 and 2.0/06 in households. Editor’s Note: FACE THE NATION’s second half-hour was broadcast contiguously across 66% of the CBS affiliates.

 

Compared to the same day last year, FACE THE NATION is up +8% in viewers (from 2.49m), +20% in adults 25-54 (from 0.5/03) and +5% in households (from 1.9/06).

 

On the broadcast, CBS News Correspondent Clarissa Ward reported the latest from Cairo on protests against Egypt’s then-president Mohammed Morsi. Bob Schieffer interviewed Gen. Michael Hayden, Ted Olson, Tony Perkins and Texas State Sen. Wendy Davis. Schieffer also hosted a political roundtable with Benjamin Jealous of the NAACP, Fernando Espuelas of Univision Radio Network, Dr. James Peterson of Lehigh University, Michael Gerson of The Washington Post and CBS News Chief Legal Correspondent Jan Crawford.
