Off Their Rockers

NBC has canceled the low rated prank series Betty White's Off Their Rockers, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show's final original episode aired Tuesday night, garnering a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating, up from the previous week's series  low of 0.8. The entire season averaged a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating, not much worse than some of NBC's single-camera scripted comedies. However, it was one of the least DVR'd shows on television, while its "cult" comedies like Community have a passionate fanbase and rise significantly in Live + 7 ratings.

    No surprise.

  • John A

Poor Betty. But it was obvious cancelation.

  • MichaelChickless

Too bad. I just started watching my recordings of the 3rd season of Community last night. (I’m a little behind.)

  • HV

It was a good filler of a half hour or hour in NBC’s schedule. But it’s not needed anymore.

  • CBSviewer

No surprise. NBC is cleaning up their Schedule for next Season !

  • Carly S

There’s still Hot in Cleveland, so I’ll have my Betty fix each week. Not too surprised about this news.

  • SJ

It was about time. It was low rated and didn’t pair well with anything.

  • Phil

She still has Hot in Cleveland which is a much more popular show.

  • Darryl

Not too surprising. It was rather low in the demo along with overall viewership. Also I think this could have contributed to the demise of Go On which should have gotten a 2nd season.

  • NBC is awesome

  • Confusion

now they just have to officially cancel Fashion Star.

  • Rebecca

Aw. I had not watched it in a while but it was kind of fun. I don’t want poor Betty to be overworked, though – so I’ll settle for seeing her on Hot in Cleveland. She’s my favorite Golden Girl.

  • Justin121

    Flop their Rockers!

  • mike

    Higher ratings than most other c r a p on NBC.Oh well!

  • HalCapone

Back on her rocker where she belongs!

  • JR35

I watched it when it first came on and whatnot, but lost interest. It did alright considering what it was, though.

  • Michael

@FLOP Detector well, at least Betty is a much more better person than you, you idiot!

  • Alan

Fashion Star has the Friday factor, it did fine there with constant 0.7’s and 0.8’s. I think it will be renewed.

    So much for no announcement.
So much for as needed schedule spackle.

I haven’t watched an episode. From what I read, it’s like Hidden Camera but it’s old people doing the pranks. Which both are fun to watch, but with too much on my plate, I don’t have the time.

Glad she still has work with Hot In Cleveland, which I have on my todo list.

Aw, too bad. It wasn’t a bad show.

Beyond that, it’s always a little sad when a show gets cancelled because of poor scheduling like this. I know mistakes happen, but sometimes it’s obviously stupidity that killed a show. I can list so many shows that were cancelled because of scheduling stupidity off the top of my head: Made in Jersey, A Gifted Man, Last Resort, Touch, Missing, and Zero Hour to name a few. And that’s not even including shows that have had ratings meltdowns (or never given the chance) due to poor scheduling: Wipeout, Once Upon a Time, Primetime: What Would You Do?, Kitchen Nightmares, Crossing Lines, Saving Hope, and many more. All of these could have been avoided if the networks were more careful.

It’s just so annoying to see the answer so clearly and then have the networks just do the worst possible thing. Sigh. Rant over.
