Will 'Sharknado' Storm the Ratings? - Poll

The Sharknado: it's a tornado with sharks and Tara Reid! Ever since Syfy announced the title of its latest campy movie, social media has been abuzz. Half of my Twitter timeline this morning is about Sharknado. Will the hype translate into ratings, or is this another Snakes on a Plane situation in which people enjoy joking about the title but aren't actually motivated to watch? Another recent Syfy camp classic, Chupacabra vs. the Alamo, starring Erik Estrada, garnered a paltry 0.3 adults 18-49 rating on Saturday, March 23. (It was competing with the Kids Choice Awards.) The prospects are better for Sharknado given that it is airing on a Thursday against summer broadcast programming. So how do you think it will do? Make your prediction!

    I went for 0.5-0.6

for a scifi b movie, its getting decent reviews!

    Looks dumb, but fun

  • don

why would anybody waste there money making this crap?

  • don

    its not fun or funny

  • Pepper

I think at least a 0.7 – it has some buzz and there’s nothing else really on

  • The End

    Went for 0.7 too.

They dont live up anymore. They are alway cheezy but they didnt used to be bad. Ill give it a few minutes but if its lame ill stop watching.

  • TV Addict

I think it will flounder. Get it???????

  • romo

Will the weather channel be covering this.

  • Tiki

I used to love Syfy back when it was SciFi and it had reasonable programming but this crap right here is ridiculous. I heard them advertising it on the radio so it might do well. Bleh.

Seen a ton of press and social media buzz for it.

Half of your Twitter timeline?? Interesting…

Sara, here at TVBTN, we are told, just b/c our circle talks about something that has no bearing on America/World etc. You should have made note of that caveat. Also, if a lot of the actual media reporters are also mentioning it, then say so. But, if it’s just your twitter, then your source isn’t any indication & even if the result proves your indication, that wasn’t causation.

    1.5 minimum

@AppleStinx Strangly enough probably a third of my timeline is Sharknado tweets this evening.

lol this movie looks like a joke. the only reason i will watch is because of tara reid and tara reid is hot.

  • Trev

Worst movie I’ve ever seen. So much time wasted in this movie. SyFy made this the worst movie I’ve seen. There are worst movies out there that I’ve seen that are better than this garage.

Based on the sheer number of Tweets, many of them from celebrities, I could see this being the highest-rated Syfy Original Movie ever. What would it need to achieve that?

I had to search for your twitter account. I didn’t see anything about Sharknado. Probably because after i read what’s below i stop looking.

Katie should pay Bill back by sleeping with Karen.

I like the way you think.

    @ Anna Bones Clarkwood

You seriously need to get a life and quit with the Childish nitpicking of Sara Bibel and her article regarding rating predictions of Sharknado performance.

All of us with an IQ know we aren’t going to rely on her twitter account as an indication of ratings it shall receive and Sara does as well. I’m assuming she mentioned it because she was surprised about the amount of discussions regarding the TV movie.
