LOS ANGELES, July 15, 2013 — Sherri Shepherd is set to guest star in a recurring role on the ninth season premiere of How I Met Your Mother, titled “The Locket,” to be broadcast Monday, Sept. 23 (8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.  Sherri will play Daphne, a woman traveling to New York on the same flight as Marshall.

“We're all extremely excited to have Sherri Shepherd joining HIMYM for an arc in Season 9!” said co-creator and executive producer Craig Thomas.  “She is hilarious and delightful and perfect for this part – we couldn't be more thrilled!”

Best known for her co-hosting duties on “The View,” Shepherd has appeared in numerous television series and feature films including “Everybody Loves Raymond,” on the Network, “Sherri,” which she executive produced and starred in, “30 Rock,” “Less than Perfect” and “Precious,” among many others.

How I Met Your Mother, now in its ninth and final season, stars Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan.

    I have absolutely no idea who that is :O

    Multi episode arc from a plane seat meeting & they aren’t dating.
    This should be fun.

    it says she will be in the episode airing 8-8:30; why are they doing two seperate episodes if they already knew for a while that they are set for an hour long premiere? there were few hour long episodes recently.

    @gigi

    I’m assuming the writers decided against a one hour episode and opted towards two half hour episodes..

  • masterbreel

    They alway that. Last year their ‘one hour episode’ was also just two episodes (even with credits between them)

    Interesting for what it says about how shows try to go about drumming up ratings these days.

    SS is basically unknown outside of The View (not exactly a show with a huge viewership outside its demo), so to put out PR about her guest shot suggests that we really are in the era of small ball TV.

    At one time, How I Met was pulling in guest stars like Britney Spears…
