ABC is better off having no soaps at all!!!!!!!!!!! That really is pathetic for GH. Then again, General Hospital was always pathetic.

  • Dee

*waits for the GH fanatics to try to spin the horrid ratings*

  • Bob

General Hospital needs to move to the internet. I haven’t heard much more on AMC and OLTL, but they seem to be steady at least.

  • Jay

In the battle between “Days” and GH, it looks like the tide is turning in the favor of “Days”. “Days” has topped GH in total viewers for four consecutive weeks and six of the last seven weeks. “Days” led GH last week by 265,000 viewers, the biggest deficit between the two soaps this season.

The fall has been quick and sharp for GH, which led “Days” by an average of more than 246,000 viewers during the month of April (including two weeks when the victory margin for GH was more than 400,000 viewers). Over the past four weeks, “Days” has triumphed over GH by an average of more than 153,000 viewers.

  • Jay

I hit “submit” too soon, as I meant to include this ratings statistic in my previous post…

GH’s 2.332 million viewers last week also represents the low point on the season for the ABC soap, as the previous seasonal low was 2.430 million viewers achieved two weeks ago (week of June 17). To put this slump into perspective, GH actually attracted 3 million viewers during the week of Christmas 2012.

  • Mike

These were for a holiday week, but considering that the worst days for most soaps didn’t count these ratings are awful.

I wonder why GH didn’t choose to not count Friday like the other 3 did. It wasn’t their worst day but just wondering why they chose to count it.

  • PatF

While not a good week for any of the shows over the previous week, GH is the only one who is trending down. The magic demo (that I don’t buy into) shows some bad news for them. And two weeks at 1.8 and that 1.6 they got during the week are the facts. Nothing really to spin.

  • moshane58

I don’t know why GH is falling. The show is Fantastic.Like it better now then I have in twenty years. Its writing has gotten so much better.Guess people liked the mob stuff more.I didn’t.

  • No

I hate to say this but GH is really bad right now a soap I’ve been watching for 20 years has turn into a joke i will hate to see this show get canceled because these two morons frank and Ron don’t know what they’re doing two morons who got OLTL canceled will soon get GH canceled its a matter of when!! STOP DESTROYING GH

  • No

And they will soon lose more viewers now with this nonsense that fake franco is jason what is wrong with these idiots??? I feel bad for the actors

  • tj

What fake Franco is Jason? Haven’t watched in a bit. That’ll never work. I like Roger Howarth but he can’t be stone cold Jason. I’ll admit I liked the mob stuff. Some times they really put some of their best writing in it. I even liked the sweeps episodes for years. Hostage crisis, the carnival and train wreck. My problem is that I haven’t watched since Greg Vaughan got replaced with the original Lucky. J.Jackson is a great actor but Greg fit more with Jason, Sam, and Liz. Good luck to the show though.

  • Bex

I doubt anyone is surprised about GH. From what I hear the ‘big 3′ have been heavily featured, and now they about to start focusing on Sam’s dad, so next week should be interesting as well.

Frank and Ron do need to get their crap together ASAP. I get some things have been out of their control, but given GH runs such a tight tape to air timeline, they should be able to soon respond to what’s not working and fix this mess. If they don’t, it’s a tell-tale sign they are more committed to keeping the non-sense than the fans’ desires. Remember, they did raise the ratings of GH to multi-year highs in a very short period of time from the mess JFP and GW left, but the spent much of their first year building on momentum, not losing momentum at a near record pace.

  • Melanie P.

I have been enjoying GH, but am not too surprised about the drop in the ratings. Don’t make Franco, really be Jason, c’mon, that would be just too stupid!! Wish I could see more of Laura, Anna, Felicia, Duke, Mac, Lucy, Luke and Tracy, as opposed to just once every couple of weeks. Where has Monica been since Franco has moved into her house? Bring back Robert Scorpio already! Don’t really care for Morgan and don’t like they way they are writing him as if he is cold and disconnected from the rest of his family. Has he even been to visit his little sister Josslyn or his cousin Molly? They were close as kids. He saw his brother Dante in the hospital, but we didn’t see them exchange any conversation on-screen. I do think Michael and Kiki will end up together, because I think Kiki really isn’t Franco’s daughter. Felicia needs to be showcased more now because of Maxie’s pregnancy and the struggle she is facing about telling Dante, Lulu and Spinelli the truth about the baby. I like Sonny and Olivia as friends, and I know they share a son Dante together and have tons of history, but don’t really want to see them back together as a couple. Kelly Sullivan (Connie)is leaving the show, so the writers will probably revisit Sonny and Olivia. I personally think Sonny and Ava would be great together. At least she isn’t one of his exes that they keep throwing him back with! So that would be different and interesting considering Ava is also part of a mob family. I am interested to see who Sam’s father is. There is a new character coming in a couple of weeks, named Derek Wells, so he may be her dad. Kinda like Nicolas and Britt together, he may get her to be nice for a change and soften up. Considering who Britt’s parents are, evil Faison and evil Dr. Obrecht, guess you can understand why she behaves the way she does.

Was hoping we would have heard by now how Y&R is doing on TVGN. Thought sure CBS would have released news on how it is doing by now.

Also was hoping that someone — either OWN or Prospect Park — would have released how AMC and OLTL did yesterday.

Since they ended up airing longer than originally thought I wonder if they will effect the soap ratings this week too. I was stunned at some of the quality issues of the shows on OWN yesterday. Some scenes looked good but some didn’t.

  • moshane58

Ron and Frank didn’t get OLTL cancelled. It was even higher then GH.GH was also intended to be cancelled but nothing worked out on the two replacement[Revolution and GAA]otherwise GH would be gone to.ABC wants out of the soap business. So you can’t blame this one on Frank and Ron when OLTL was alot higher then GH.As far as GH I think it is better. Not into the Soprano stuff they had going.Gh was hurting back then and did go up again. But people need to give them a chance. They are fighting ABC daily.Kelly Sullivan has been written off and ABC refused to renew her contract,They have hired to women from Y&R and one man from Days..So what is ABC up to?Ask them they are making these behind the scene decision not Ron and Frank.Like they want people to tune out and have a reason to cancel it.Belle Soap made sure there soaps where everywhere.ABC lost alot of countries and refused to keep attention on there soaps. As Anne Sweeney quoted she like all day News cbannwl.Maybe one day she will succeed and ABC will be one.No one understand what they put these producers, actors threw.Cut Cuts.As the cast of the online soaps said no more cold bagels and wip get it down now with no rehearsal.Ever think what ron and Frank and the cast have to deal with?I’m backing GH and fighting with them against ABC.

  • Joe

These ratings are from July 4th week so I will hold back any judgement on any of this numbers.

GH does have some issues to address unitl they reign Ron Carlivati and Frank V in not much will change. Ron C has become out of control on his twitter account of late. He thinks only his way of thinking is right. When the show keep tanking viewers the blame will be put on him.

The thing was all the praise about the vets returning back in April, it was clear that they were only there short term and most were up front about that. The ones that stayed are placed on the back burner anyhow. But it is that having veterans back is the answer. The answer is to tell good day to day stories that keep people tuning in.

Days is also a mess. Stefano returning 9 billion times, the constant focus on Sammi and EJ, the focus on characters that no one cares about.

Y&R to me hasnt changed in 20 years. Yes they still do well in the numbers but cannot figure out why. B&B never liked it never will

Sadly the state of soaps is a mess.

Watched the OLTL and AMC reboots on OWN yesterday. I cannot say I see a lot of hope for those shows either. Sadly the soap genre is looking to be a mess and wouldn’t surprise me to so no soaps on any of the networks by 2020

  • Sedgrick

@Joe Days is not a mess Stefano hasn’t even died and he hasn’t returned from the dead again Days is about to do Stefano and EJ are going to war are you even watching Days that is making me wonder are you even watching and its doing amazing.

  • Stevie Jones

Yes it was a holiday week but it didn’t seem to affect anyone but GH and that’s because GH and RC/FV suck right now. The show is a mess. I mean REPEATS on CBS and NBC got better ratings than GH. That is some sad stuff right there.

  • Joe

The answer to whether it was the holiday or not will be when the ratings for last week come out. If they gain back at least the viweers they lost during the holiday week then that is a good indication.

Yes Stefano wasn’t killed this time, he just left and came back. The guy is in his 80s enough already.

Enough with punk JJ no one cares. Enough of EJ and Sami. Enough of Will deciding he thinks he is ruining Sonny’s life.
