LOL at the name MoRon! Ron should spend more time worried about his show, and less time calling fans mentally insane, and posting ‘The Soup’ links.

  • jonboyelk

A short while back, when Paul Rauch died, Valentini made a statement to the effect that Rauch taught him to listen to the viewers. Obviously Val hasn’t heeded Rauchs advice.

A mixed week for all soaps. I thought BB would do better because of the Brooke/Bill revelation, but they are up in the key demo. BB and DOOL continue to hold my interest. It is down to personal opinion but I like Ejami. Well anything EJ does has my attention! I have now stopped watching GH. I doubt Ron and co. are that bothered-they are far too busy hastily writing absurd plots to accommodate the seemingly holy trinity. All soaps need new blood and I like new characters but on GH they have been introduced in a very sloppy way. The ridiculous redemption of Franco not only trivialises Michael’s rape to a plot device but it has been done before-Franco/Todd who can tell the difference? If GH writers cannot be bothered to writed something fresh, then I won’t bother watching.

  • Mike

    Jon Boy,

I think he learned the lesson well from Paul Rauch if you ask me. Paul Rauch was the world’s worst person to be giving any producer advice on listening to fans.

Just on Another World alone he fired 2 of the most popular performers ever causing many fans to leave AW and follow the actors to One Life To Live.

Paul Rauch might have listened but he had a bad habit of not doing anything about what he heard or doing the exact opposite of what fans wanted.

  • JayTN

I don’t follow postings on Twitter, but if Ron Carlivati is indeed insulting viewers on social media, he is breaking a cardinal rule of television, and entertainment, in general. You never (purposely) make your viewers – or fans – mad…your career essentially relies on their support. Not a very smart move by anyone to go out of your way to anger fans or supporters.

  • Joe

The thing is Jay is anyone says anything against the show he makes a saracastic remark like there is one out there that someone screen shotted where he told the person to “send me your resume!”

I have supported GH through the Phelps/Guza era. I even supported it thorough RC/FV up until the last few months. The show has just become boring and is obviously all about the former OLTL actors/actresses and their new characters. I want to like the show, I want to see it turn around but the current stuff is just not good and it does not appear any changes are coming anytime soon!

  • Mike

Ever since I saw the postings by Team Eric on SON where he tabulated the monthly averages for GH, I have wanted to compare them to all the soaps. So I have been working on assembling them. I will break them up in 3 postings. First one for Total Viewers, then for 18-49, and then finally for 18-34. It can show the picture of how each soaps has progressed for the first 6 months. These are just averages for the month.

People are talking trash about gh but no ones watching what do you expect I’m getting so tired of hearing the garbage about gh all the soaps have been bored people depress me they are so negative I’m riding with gh people will watch once it’s cancelled it’s been real good lately people don’t want change

  • Joe

Deshawn even people like myself who have supported the show are tired of the Franco/Silas Clay/Kiki stuff. The producer/writers don’t want to hear feedback and sadly a show I watched since I was in elementary school when I’d come home from school and watch with my Mom and grandmother is going to be cancelled sooner than later. Why because of an ego driven writer and producer.

The numbers don’t lie GH is in the basement and unless something changes quick they are going to be buried six feet under

  • Deshawn

Joe I know you mean well but they had to change the actors names prospect park where trying to sue abc and it’s going to get good because Kiki is really not a quartermaine I know people didn’t like the mob stuff now other things are going on they dont like people talked about the new lulu you have to give actors a chance I miss Julie Marie berman but we have to give Emmy rylan a chance I’m not giving up because gh is going to get better I agree Ron should listen but we as fans should pray

  • opinion8d

GH is a horrible mess…fading fast. DAYS is on the rise!

  • Bex

I don’t follow Ron on Twitter, but one of my Twitter friends does, and he did tweet about Twitter soap fans being mentally insane, because I remember she was rather upset over it. I know for a fact that he does blocks anyone who has anything negative to say about him, or the show. If Ron can’t handle negative criticism then he should stick to GH related tweets.

I can’t see Ron leaving GH anytime soon, because he’s Frank’s puppet. The only way he will end up leaving is if they fire Frank, and we know that has to come from the top.

GH fans are always quick to point out that ABC only look at quarterly ratings, but if GH continues on the path it has since the 50th, leading into the fall season – I can’t see someone from the top not tightening up that ship, or at the very least send marching orders.

  • Mike

Deshawn, The problem with what you are saying is the word HAD.

No they did not. They could have easily let all 3 actors go. That would have been what was best for GH overall. Bringing back all 3 actors with new names so shortly after all 3 had to leave was a bad move. It would have been a bad move on any show.

Soaps do not have to honor contracts. People are let go on soaps all the time before their contracts run out. Y&R fired Debbi Morgan and Genie Francis long before their contracts were up because JFP listened to what fans wanted, thought it was best for Y&R, and probably knowing her wanted them gone anyway. But it can be done.

Soap fans do not have to accept it and many are not.

I was watching OLTL when Michael Malone returned the 2nd time and tried to turn OLTL into a mob story like GH. Fans didn’t like it and complained about it. They could have continued with the plan but they chose to listen to fans. If they hadn’t OLTL would have probably been cancelled long before it was because ratings were dropping fast. Many of those actors then had contracts but the stories were dropped and most of them were gone.

The job of the EP and HW is to guide the show in the right direction. And to make decisions short and long term that will keep the show going. It is not to fulfill some dream or to operate some personal agenda. Your suppose to hire and fire folks that keep fans tuning in, not drive them away.

  • GHfan

I have completly stopped watching GH. Why would I tune in to a show that features characters I don’t know or can’t stand 99% of the time.

The pacing is a mess, there are no storylines I’m interested in and honestly RC’s twitter personality has me furious. Is he that dense to think he can insult the fans? Aren’t the fans the reason he has a job?

As a long time GH viewer, I am utterly insulted at what my show has become. It pains me to watch it. GH ended for me at the Nurses Ball. RIP.

  • GHfan

One more thing, PLEASE write/call/email ABC if you are unhappy. You never know! They need to know that GH can stay alive if we get new writers.

  • Jack

I’ll admit I only watch GH once in awhile, but then again it’s probably why I watch it once in awhile. Can I suggest the soap take a sabbatical and come back as the real GH. I don’t know what makes me more furious on Y&R, Sharon falsifying Nick’s DNA test to make Summer Jack’s daughter or Carmine turning out to be a bigger scum*** than I allowed myself to believe. Y&R has a challenge ahead, I fear the ratings will decline.

  • Mike

This is one situation where I am not sure writing is going to make a difference unless you can specify your letter go to someone higher up than Frank V. and Ron C.

If Ron C. won’t listen to fans who directly respond to him on Twitter. I even hear he blocks folks that he doesn’t like what they say.

If he gets a letter saying something different than he wants to hear is going to go into File 13 and be forgotten.

It is weird because the last time ratings dropped on a show that Ron C. and Frank V. were at due to stuff that wasn’t working it was ABC that stepped in and made them stop. That was all the stuff around the mass gay wedding, Dorian pretending to be gay, and what became of the great Kish story after Ron C. took it in weird directions. That was when Frons was still there and he was too controlling. He needed to loosen up some and let the show runners do their job, but I have to wonder — Does the lady who took his job care enough to step in?

  • TVInsider

A friend of mine who works for soap opera digest says B/B is becoming an hour and Y/R is being bumped to a half hour. The ratings for B/B are rising and within a half point of taking the number 1 slot. CBS is also horrified with Jill Farren Phelps I hear.
