Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

UTD is really good – and the acting isn’t that bad. A few characters, sure, but not horrible. The television reviews have been really good for the show — and I thought this week’s episode was the best yet. Can’t wait to start getting some answers. It’s tempting to go read the book on my kindle but then i would want to watch the show.

Glad the ratings are good – doubt this becomes anything but a miniseries though since the premise would get boring with multiple seasons but who knows.

  • Josh!

    steady for under the dome!

  • MistressesisaFLOP

lol @ Mistresses dismal ratings and people here are actually using the word “renewal” in the same sentence as that dire failure.

  • rgxx

Wow UTD – Strong & Steady…my concern is if they are turning this in to an on-going series instaed of the one year mini-series that it was first planning to be…then people will get tired of the Dome and it’s un-answered mysteries and it also leaves it open for never ending side stories…then the rating go down then CBS will cancel it before it has a time to finish it like it deserves.

Or CBS will move it to a Spring and then it will get beat up against the other competition…not resolve the story line and still get cancelled.

  • colt13

I don’t watch any of these 10 pm shows, but like the networks trying new programming. Under the Dome is obviously giving the viewers what they want.

  • bk8718

So we’re not playing Guess the Ratings for WLIIA?

  • Alan Perry

    Yay UTD!

  • HalCapone

(Full disclosure: I really, really like the science fiction/fantasy genre; I have only seen 2 episodes of UTD but I have read the book)

There are so many remarkable things about Under The Dome’s performance:
    1) Science fiction on CBS? This is after all your grandfather’s network:)
    2) Ratings are typically a lot lower in the summer.
    3) 10pm hour is the toughest slot anytime of the year.
    4) A scripted show debuting in the summer (which is not an import from Canada) has been pretty rare for the past several years.
    5) Isn’t UTD the second or third highest average ratings for a NEW show since last Fall?

It’s a decent show but the book is much better. Kudos to CBS for airing it instead of another reality program. Even repeats of scripted show are almost always better than original reality programming.

  • rgxx

Don’t mess this up CBS – keep it in the summer!

  • Joseph A

Can easily say that Under The Dome is doing much better then I had expected , its a solid hit though I watch normally via Amazon on Fridays ,

Also ,, these are the adjusted numbers per Nielsen for the week of the 1st

Under the dome scored a 7.4 and had 11.815 M viewers

Source: Nielsen. Primetime Broadcast Programs. Viewing estimates on this page include Live viewing and DVR playback on the Same Day, defined as 3am-3am. Ratings are the percentage of TV homes in the U.S. tuned into television.

I could see Mistresses getting renewed. It’s been steady all season, and altho the ratings may be on the low side for a summer show they arnt terrible either (especially in ABC’s ugly summer). I also could see it as a show that could grow into season 2. But they will only renew it if its dirt cheap, if not, it’s a goner.

  • lostboy

Stopped watching UTD deleted from my DVR did not watch E4 unbelievable ratings for the show. They should have called it Jericho Under The Dome and bring back Jake. The show really does suck. I like Stephen King, but this show is dreadful. I can’t wait for Revolution this fall. The show has its flaws, but UTD is a snoozer. I don’t hate the show, it is not what I expected from Stephen King. However let the Revolution haters come out like roaches.

  • Jake

I can not believe the viewers for this show. Good thing they announced it was just a misery series, only 13 episodes
Sure CBS will find away to renew it. THey can call it Return of The Dome or King of Domes. People and children will watch 10pm shows in the summer. Just not during the school year.

  • Warren

Ah the haters..forever shooting themselves in the foot. Even if you don’t like the show you should be supporting it purely to spur more interest in original programming in the summer.

  • Asashii

@ Andrew, wow didnt know other people listened to one of many Jack White bands, thought me and five other people were the only ones!!!!!
