GO GH!!!! Also, Why does this site seem to point out Negative things about Soaps?? GH & The rest of the SOAPS..Are WAY Better than any Talk or Reality show on TV! GH Rules!

  • Derrick

    Go Y&R!!!!
Why DAYS is down I don’t understand!

  • DenverDean

B&B – +440K from last year – it continues to impress.

  • joe

You guys do realize none of these soaps are really growing, and 440k is pathetic.once u do the average per year with them bouncing back and forth each week none are showing much growth. There up,there down,up,down. It’s called simple math, please stop acting like these are victories, pretty pathetic.

  • Joe S

Surprised to see GH’s numbers go up considering the mess the show has become. Even more surprising (or really not so much) is they beat out Days in 18-49 and are very close in total viewers. Days is just as much a mess.

It does appear that the low numbers last week were a result of the holiday week

  • Jocelyn

For Joe – It’s untrue that the soaps aren’t showing growth, according to Variety. They are all up year over year. Here’s the GH Paragraph:

GH was up 11 percent year-over-year. Reportedly, GH is at “its highest levels since All My Children and One Life to Live were still airing in the hours preceding it as part of a three-soap ABC lineup.” This is the third straight quarter for which GH has risen by double-digit percentages over the previous year.

It’s amazing to see all of the soaps up year-to-year. The genre is having a pretty good 2013. Even their low weeks aren’t as low as they were in past years where you could’ve argued cancellation talk for them. They all are in a healthy position.

Good to see GH go back up, it’s so hard to please GH fans but the show to me has been pretty decent since mid-May. I think the show can be better though but its totally watchable. GH needs a pretty good run here going into November sweeps they gotta get out of that 2.3 million range and get back to 2.5 or 2.6 million.

DAYS is having one of its strongest summer seasons in a while, this is usually the time of year when they hit new lows but the show has finally found a consistent audience that’s hanging around 2.5 million viewers. DAYS to me is the best of the soaps right now quality wise although you can make the argument that Y&R is better right now.

Y&R too has gotten to a consistent level along with B&B which is rock solid it should be interesting to see how the show does without Steffy.

  • CS’ Revenge

I can’t wait to see how AMC and OLTL did on Oxygen I have no idea what would be a good number for those two soaps right now.

  • PatF

The paternity reveal on YR seemed to have people tuned in.

    Good job YR!

  • Mike

Sean where have you been. GH was down for weeks and there was no Sean to support his show. You only come out when GH is up to say it is on fire and to complain about something.

Way to go Y&R and even though B&B didn’t have as good of week overall. Look at Friday. They gained over 500,000 viewers from Thursday to Friday and they built every day. Great week B&B. I don’t even remember right now what happened on Thursday to make that many people tune in Friday. That is a big gain.

  • Mike

the thing that bothers me about soap fans getting so up in arms about these ratings and how good they perceive them is that evidently the networks are seeing something totally different.

Y&R has a good week it seems here but who did CBS do a press release about this week….. The Talk.

And I know that Katie and Live with Kelly and Michael are syndicated ABC shows but they both got press releases this week but GH didn’t. The ratings for those 2 shows being up were for a different time period. They were for the week of the 4th when GH tied its lows.

But then again since GH did rebound and have a fairly good week even moving up to 2nd again in 18-49 for the first time since April where is the press release for GH. A few months ago ABC was doing the press releases and seemed fully behind GH for the first time in awhile.

As I said a few weeks ago I fully expected ABC to release some type of press release these last few weeks just to rub it in the nose of Prospect Park … salt in the wound for beating them in the fight for the OLTL 3. But nothing. Not once when ratings were up after they returned did ABC bother.

Every time Days has a good week NBC seems very eager to get those releases out. Makes me think they are still behind and pulling for Days.

CBS and ABC I’m just not so sure about anymore…in regards to their soaps.

  • Steve

I heard on another board that Jill Farren Phelps was let go as Executive Producer of Y & R due to intervention of Julie Chen who is concerned about her line up lead in. Anyone know anything about that?

  • Mike

These were just posted in the OWN AMC/OLTL thread at Soap Opera Network. Not sure what the source for these are or if they are true. So just want to post that as a warning. But these were posted as Total Viewers for AMC and OLTL on OWN for July 17th:

    Son of the Bronx?@SonOfTheBronx23h

For July 17, 2013 on #OWN (in total viewers): All My Children 73k, #OLTL 136k

  • Bex

Very nice job Y&R, not to mention today’s cliffhanger was great.

    @ Mike

SonoftheBronx is a pretty reliable source I believe those are the right numbers and thank you for posting them here.

  • Mike

Those seem low to me, but I don’t know what OWN was getting in that time slot before.

I’m just stunned at how little promotion that it has gotten.

  • moshane58

Would have like to see gains for Days to even though I don’t watch it.Don’t want anymore cancelled.I wish people would back there soaps threw the good and bad times.People will always leave and changes have to be made.We may not like it but we need to live with it and back them.Losing your favorite soap isn’t fun.It may be back but totally different format. But still backing it.Hope they keep steady or raise in viewers.

  • moshane58

@Mike can you give me a link where you read the ratings on Own.I have searched everywhere and several places said they haven’t post any because what they are getting doesn’t even make sense enough to post ratungs?

  • bizzarr1000

  • Derrick

Steve, which board did you hear about JFP being let go?

If it’s true, then several people will be very happy about that!
