I would be thrilled to see JFP replaced at Young and Restless. I thought LML was bad but those felt like better days than now with Phelps and her lackluster and dated crew.

  • Deshawn

People always saying negative things about gh its been on fire lately those people need to stop watching because me and five people are riding with gh stop hating you haters I knew they would dust off and try again gh is in gods hands and it’s going to make it

  • Mike

This is from Marc Berman at TV Media Insights. I think from Twitter too. It was posted at Soap Opera Network too:

    18 Jul

FYI…I finally received some ratings for “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” from OWN on Monday, but they they are unusable. And there is no improvement over the regularly scheduled time period, unfortunately.

So evidently the ratings weren’t that good.

  • Jack

Let me go out on a limb and suggest to CBS that it is worth a gamble to extend B&B to a full hour. With so many talented unemployed soap actors, I think B&B could prosper even further. Ratings could certainly reach 4 million. Days and GH are competitive, only to each other and never going higher than bronze. Y&R has been better of late and I can’t wait for Sharon to face the music.

  • Tv Bob

Rumor has it BB is being extended to an hour. There have been grumbling about it. It is just one 1/2 point below YR. pretty impressive for a small cast half hour show.

  • Kelby

    Y&R and DOOL are terrible!

  • dee

RH as Franco is almost universally hated. Since he is on allllll the time, it won’t bode well for ratings.

  • dee

@kelby still leagues better than GH!

  • Mike

Personally I think making B&B an hour long show will signal worse ratings. There is no way they can fill an hour with the small cast so new characters will have to be brought in. CBS has already cut the budget. So they aren’t going to give them much more money. They cut the budget even with the ratings being up.

I love B&B at 30 minutes because it doesn’t require as much of a commitment. It is easy to follow and easy to fit in my schedule. I watch it every day where as sometimes if I am busy I have to wait and watch Y&R on the weekend or watch several episodes at a time.

  • Tv Bob

I think for reasons mentioned I like BB at a half hour. YR feels too long sometimes.

  • Tv Bob

I watch BB every day also because it is so manageable at 30 min.

I seen Marc Berman’s post.Just nothing else is why I ask.Been googling.Bad thing is noone wants to let people know without internet about the soaps.I have even tried to get my local paper to write an article to let people know they where back on TV,But they didn’t.People without internet do not have a clue they where even rebooted. Also ABc cut everyone’s salary even before the soaps where cancelled.See people with time Warner in big cities nay not have CBS after the 25th.CBS wants 600% hike in the price they pay.Seen some unhappy people on the net over this.We don’t need any soaps to hurt over negotations.TVGN will help Y&R fans but is B&B still on soapnet?

  • Dee

The soaps aren’t going to be around for much longer. I blame the Frank Valentinis and Jill Farren Phelps of soap land for that!

  • Mike

B&B has never been on SoapNet.

The papers unless it is a critic piece don’t do stories just to let people know about shows. That is what they sell ads for. It was OWNS and Prospect Parks place to buy ads and get the stars on talk shows to promote the show. Neither one did. Prospect Park has cut back on how much they promote both shows. That is their job.

Love how people here always have to put down the shows they don’t watch.

When are people gonna understand that in order for soaps to survive we have to cheer for ALL of them, whether we watch them or not?

The actors, producers, writers, directors, etc. are all a part of the same shrinking industry and they need our support.

Go DAYS! Go GH! Go Y&R! Go B&B! Go AMC! Go OLTL! Go Soaps!

  • Mike

I’m not going to put a show down but I won’t root for it simply because it is part of a genre. I don’t do it with every comedy, or every sci fi, or every mystery show, etc. I watch for TV and movies for entertainment. There are some forms I love more than others.

Rooting a show on that is doing nothing to help itself in the end only hurts the whole industry. If people are not being entertained then they aren’t going to watch and they are going to tune out and watch something else.

And that forces the networks to have to seek out the cheapest form of entertainment just to put something out there that will make them money. They are in the business of making money. And they have to resort to whatever will do that.

  • Tim

I don’t really understand the ratings for “Days”….its been totally great to watch the last few months, and now its can’t miss time, its amazing best it’s been in years.About the show being Terrible,i was wondering if that person is evening watching the show lately….Keep up the good work “Days”….Tim a fan of 40+ years….

  • James

AMC and OLTL ratings are pretty horrible. I know on Hulu AMC is doing much better than OLTL.

The 4 Network soaps are doing okay.

  • Melanie P.

@Mike, you make some great points. I admit I still look at the soaps out of loyalty and entertainment, but if I am bored with them, I just stop watching. I don’t feel the need to keep watching and keep complaining because no one is forcing me to watch. I won’t watch anything, (including other TV shows, not just soaps), just to keep it from getting cancelled. Personally, I think AMC and OLTL should have never been revived. What is the point really? Sometimes just let things fade into TV history and we will always have the memories.

  • tj

Well right now they have aired OLTL and AMC episodes that already aired on HULU. Maybe if they were original episodes they would be doing a bit better. I hope so, I prefer watching them on OWN. Still grateful for HULU and I tunes giving them a shot.
