Network’s July 2013 Sweep Victory Represents +6% Growth from July 2012 Among Adults 18-49, with ABC, FOX and NBC Down by Double-Digits

 

KMEX Univision 34 in Los Angeles and WXTV Univision 41 in New York Set to Finish as the #1 and #2 Most Watched Stations in the Country, Respectively, During Primetime among Adults 18-34, Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54


MIAMI – JULY 22, 2013 –The Univision Network announced today that it is on pace to finish the July 2013 sweep as the No. 1 network, broadcast or cable, in primetime among both Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34, marking the first time in any sweep period.  With double-digit percent advantages over second-place broadcast network FOX among Adults 18-49 (+21%) and Adults 18-34 (+20%), the Spanish-language network will also conclude the July sweep as the No. 1 network with young Persons 12-34 with a 30% advantage over nearest competitor, FOX.

 

“2013 has been a year of milestones for Univision, as we continue to evolve and break new ground,” said Univision Communications Inc. President and CEO Randy Falco.  “Finishing the February sweep as the No. 4 network, ahead of NBC, made a major impact. Wrapping up July – during a time when other networks are investing more than ever in summer programming – as the No. 1 network among both Adults 18-49 and 18-34 for the first time, is making history.”

 

Additionally, in its ninth consecutive July sweep among Adults 18-34 and sixth consecutive July sweep among Adults 18-49, Univision will finish as the No. 1 network on Friday night. This includes strong competitive advantages over the closest competitors: ABC (+81% among Adults 18-34) and NBC (+41% among Adults 18-49).

 

In comparison to last year’s July sweep, Univision is showing audience growth of 6% among Adults 18-49, while ABC (-24%), FOX (-20%) and NBC (-12%) are reporting declines.  This also includes growth among both Men 18-49 (+7%) and Women 18-49 (+5%).

 

With a median age of 37 years old, Univision continues to deliver the youngest viewers during primetime among the top five broadcast networks.  In fact, more than 17 years younger than the average of ABC (55), CBS (58), NBC (54) and FOX (47).

 

 

 

ADDITIONAL NETWORK HIGHLIGHTS:

 

During the July 2013 sweep period, the Univision Network:

 

  • Delivering an average audience of nearly 3.6 million Total Viewers 2+, 1.8 million Adults 18-49, 874,000 Adults 18-34 and 1.1 million Persons 12-34 in primetime.

 

  • Will rank as the No. 4 network, broadcast or cable, among Total Viewers 2+, ahead of FOX.

 

  • Has the most top 25 airings among Adults 18-49 on all of television during primetime (10 in total) in comparison to ABC (1), CBS (6), NBC (3), FOX  (3), BET (1) and ESPN (1).

 

Program Highlights:

 

  • Popular variety show “Sabado Gigante” (Giant Saturday) is reporting year over year audience growth in the current July 2013 Sweep period among Viewers 2+ (+4% to nearly 2 million), Adults 18-49 (+16% to 787,000), Women 18-49 (+14% to 460,000), Men 18-49 (+18% to 328,000), Adults 18-34 (+5% to 328,000) and Persons 12-34 (+4% to 410,000).

 

  • Univision’s 10th  Annual “Premios Juventud” on Thursday, July 18, 2013, reached nearly 10 million viewers who tuned in to all or part of the youth awards show, averaging nearly 5 million Total Viewers 2+, and driving the network to a first-place finish among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Persons 12-34.

 

  • The Univision Network’s highest-rated primetime novela “Amores Verdaderos” (True Love) – which is set to end its nine-month run on Sunday July 28, 2013 – is outperforming first-run airings of such English-Language programs as:

    There’s a very powerful phrase here in America, “show me the numbers”, well here they are, like it or not we are growing by the numbers, soon we’ll be the majority in this country, there will be nothing but real football(soccer), not that boring game you call football and play with your hands, no more baseball(trash), we’ll keep basketball, and golf can only be play if you’re conducting some kind of business. So, wake up America, here we come.
