I expect that within a year or two, Univision will win an “in-season” Sweep (November, February, May) among adults between 18 and 34, and within two or there years, will win an entire season in that demographic.

I also anticipate that by the end of the decade, Univision will also win an in-season sweep and an entire season in the 18-49 demo as well.

    The reasons are two-fold:

    (1) The Hispanic population is rapidly growing, and it’s also younger than the nation’s population as a whole.

    (2) Unlike English-language television, Spanish-language broadcast television has yet to be cannibalized by cable and satellite networks. Thus, Univision has the chance to attract more Spanish-speaking viewers.

Dr. Rachel Maddow mentioned this on her eponymous show (For Faux Right-Wing Propaganda viewers, that means the show that is named after her) and during that segment highlighted the news division of Univision and the approach they take to policies and positions taken by public figures affecting the Hispanic population (NOT a homogeneous grouping as demonstrated a few days ago on Comedy Central’s “Daily Show”). Iowa Republican Steve King (no not THAT Steve King; this Steve King is even more terrifying)was grilled on his comments relating immigrants to dogs. It did not go well for him.
