via press notes:

Note: Due to the shorter-form nature of the series, exact ratings for AXE COP and HIGH SCHOOL USA are not available.

  • ANIMATION DOMINATION HIGH DEF (11-11:30PM): 0.5 among Adults 18-49, up +67% from FOX’s prior summer average in the time period (0.3) and right in line with Archer’s Season 1 average for initial telecasts (0.5, 9/17/09-3/18/10)
    • In total viewers, the half-hour was up +50% from FOX’s prior summer average in the time period (1.5 mil vs 1.0 mil) and up +52% from Archer’s Season 1 average for initial telecasts (0.99 million)
    • In addition, last night’s premiere numbers fall right in the range of Adult Swim’s animated late-night series, which have averaged between a 0.3 rating and a 0.8 rating (the latter for more established shows like Robot Chicken) over the past two seasons.  For example, the most recent season of Adult Swim’s Children’s Hospital – one of its most popular series - averaged a 0.6 among Adults 18-49.

    · The last new program in the slot, The Wanda Sykes Show, premiered at 0.9 in 2009.

  • A23

They should have just rebooted Madtv or air repeats of MAD. But these shows are probably less expensive.

  • Oliver

That’s some spin. They pretty much bombed.

I can see Fox being patient, though.

  • A

Why did they premiere it on a night there was a live event in primetime? The overrun meant it didn’t start until 11:15.

  • Ravenrei

The overrun was annoying, but I enjoyed the hour once it finally started. Axe Cop was better than High School USA in my opinion, though both were well-written. I really liked the random music videos, too, perhaps more than the shows. That’s one way to keep viewers in their seats during the commercials!

Looks like Adult Swim has competition on Saturdays now.

  • SVU: Hannibal Lector’s Dinner

i think Adult Swim is very content with their Anime programs after the Fox AD and Boondocks reruns on Sat. Even though there’s so may be so many episodes in a series to air (before they run out or the ratings fall), there’s also a lot of Japanese Anime that hasn’t been translated to English yet.

  • Bill

My DVR didn’t tape it this week. Sucks!

  • Anthony

Not as bad as I expected them to do, but still pretty terrible. That is half of what shows used to do in the slot (Mad TV, etc). Without continued large amounts of promotion they will fall even lower.

  • Ram510

I still Fox should revive Futurama

  • Patrick Ausgewahlt

I liked the Axe Cop/High School USA combo followed by the Cleveland Show. It’s a good way to repeat all their extra episode of the Cleveland Show
