Fastest-Growing Drama in Network’s History Hits Highs in All Key Demos with 45% Jump in Total Viewers Since Premiere

LOS ANGELES, CA (July 29, 2013) – Lifetime’s all-new hit drama Devious Maids (#DeviousMaids) from executive producers Marc Cherry and Eva Longoria, and starring Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramírez, Roselyn Sánchez, Edy Ganem and Judy Reyes, continues to grow, having reached series highs across all key demographics in its sixth week on the air last night.  The network’s fastest-growing drama in its history and the number one ad-supported cable program among Women 18+ and Women 2+ in the Sunday 10:00pm ET/PT hour, Devious Maids yesterday averaged 2.9 million Total Viewers, a +45% jump vs. its June 23 premiere and +4% compared to last week, 1.4 million Adults 18-49 viewers (+69% and +8%), 1.3 million Adults 25-54 viewers (+50% and +18%), 1.1 million Women 18-49 viewers (+74% and +13%) and 1.0 million Women 25-54 viewers (+51% and +14%), according to Nielsen Research.

Devious Maids centers on a close-knit group of maids (Ortiz, Ramírez, Sánchez, Ganem and Reyes), bonded together by their jobs, life struggles and boss’ melodramatic “upstairs-downstairs” universe, that turns to one another for support after a fellow maid Flora (Paula Garcés) is brutally murdered at the home of her employers.  Devious Maids also stars Susan Lucci, Rebecca Wisocky, Tom Irwin, Mariana Klaveno, Grant Show, Matt Cedeño, Melinda Page Hamilton, Drew Van Acker, Brianna Brown and Brett Cullen.

Inspired by the hit telenovela, Ellas son la Alegría del Hogar, Devious Maids is produced by ABC Studios.  The series was created by Marc Cherry and is executive produced by Cherry, Sabrina Wind, Eva Longoria, Paul McGuigan, Larry Shuman, David Lonner, John Mass and Televisa USA’s Paul Presburger and Michael Garcia.

    Marc Cherry has done it again. The show feels like the early seasons of Desperate Housewives. So fresh and intriguing.

    This show is gonna be huge. Word of mouth is high and it’s clearly showing its result. I think it will keep on rising throughout its first season. The second season could even be higher if it goes on netflix. People know Marc Cherry from Desperate housewives and the buzz is there. ABC should be ashamed to let this show go because the same thing happened to Desperate Housewives. HBO, lifetime, and a bunch of other networks I’m forgetting right now ( I’m pretty sure CBS and NBC too) all passed on what become a television phenomenon on ABC.

    Not sure this show would have worked on ABC. It’s a great show, but most of it is straight out the Desperate Housewives handbook, which was already done on that network for 8 seasons. With that said, it’s the perfect fit at Lifetime, with an audience that craves campy-soap predictability.

    It’s weird that there are people tuning in for the first time because obviously there aren’t going to have any idea as to what it going on. It’s definitely a show that people need to watch from the beginning.

    I find Devious Maids highly entertaining.
    However I can see why ABC didn’t want to air it. It does feel like a cheesy cheap rip off of Desperate Housewives. LIFETIME network is part of the same company as ABC anyway.

    I like the show a lot. Feels very fresh and I love the chemistry with the cast. Making Ana Ortiz the lead was a good choice. She’s definitely done a good job carrying the show.

    The irony is that ABC passed on Devious Maids, but plays host to Mistresses, which only dreams of being half as entertaining as DM is.

    I love this show the story lines are great. I feel like i’m watching the 1st few seasons of DH when it was at its best. And the best is the Mr. Spenser cant get enough of my DM.
