    I wonder if WLIIA performance is causing any of these shifts…even though that doesn’t seem to be the case directly up front, one has to wonder if the CW might be worried about how Reign is actually going to fare.

  • halloween

    could be a bad sign for Reign, being delayed to boost Originals…?

  • Kissan

    Wait what?! Everybody’s gonna watch The Originals already. Now Reign is definitely gonna get canceled.

  • ryan

    might be sign they are scared of agent sheild

  • ryan

    shield

  • ZmaX

    okay, now this might confuse a few viewers…

    Series premiere on Thursday.
    Episode 2 on Tuesday,
    re-run of episode 2 on Thursday,
    Episode 3(and onward) on Tuesday
    Reign Premiere on Thursday

    it’ll be interesting to see the ratings for all of these different airings.

  • taylor

    why would they do that?
    it’s gonna confussed the originals fans.

  • halloween

    @ryan maybe not they moved the timeslot premiere date closer to the premiere of SHIELD…before there was 3 week difference…given new shows decline for a few weeks…it may not be a smarter move

  • brent

    I kinda get why they did this
    I hear the premiere episode of the originals, is going to take place on the same night as the backdoor pilot that aired in April, but just from a different character’s (Elijah) perspective.
    It seems like it will be pretty much the same and wont introduce new plotlines or whatever. So it makes sense to start the episode earlier to get it out of the way and air the second episode only a few days after so fans wont tune out because it feels like they already saw that episode before.

  • Eelna

    you people now , reign won’t get cancelled if you watch it on the 17th, and then reign has no other series or season premieres as competition, and the cw did this with emily owens m.d, started weeks later than hod and it reached 1.7m viewers with putting it online. and reign is defintily more exiting.

  • brent

    Also, they are trying to make “The Originals” appeal to people who have not watched TVD, so the premiere episode has to establish who they are and all the mythology behind vampires. This is information TVD viewers already know and they might be bored or feel like they are not getting anything new from the first episode.

  • John A

    A bit unnecessary to be hones. The Originals will do fine on its own. It dont need TVD Lead in.

  • Alan

    Nice move! But they should had air it for the first time on Tuesday and then repeat it at Thursday after TVD’s season premiere. It’s going to confuse the fans! But, the episode will be the same as the back door pilot that already aired, right?

    And The CW killing Reign before it premieres lol, they should had picked The Selection up instead.

  • ZmaX

    If anyone is curious, the Director’s Cut of “The Originals” pilot is up on the CW website.

    They replaced the Vampire Diary scenes back in Mystic Falls with new scenes. Includes more Elijah.
    But is that supposed to be the series premiere, or will they air a completely new episode?

  • Alan

    @Eelna EOM.D. never had a chance. It faced strong competition from other networks. Reign should do fine considering TVD is its lead in, but TSC and BATB have proved that even with a strong lead in, nothing is guaranteed. I can see Reign premiering with so-so ratings, but then declining dramatically by the third or fourth episode.

  • Alan

    @ZmaX
    I think the Director’s Cut will be the one that airs.

  • Jere

    Vd will prob have 24 episodes this year and if reign get a full season order it’s only 22 so i get it. Plus a nice preview for the originals so glad supernatural moved up a week

  • Timmy G

    @ Jere

    VD will probably only have 22 episodes again, the reason we got 23 last year was so one could be used to shoot The Originals pilot. When Kevin Williamson was still on the show he said he didn’t want to sacrifice quality by doing more episodes, and now that Julie Plec is working on three different shows I doubt there will be more than 22. But I guess you never know.

  • brent

    @zmax
    I heard at comic con that they are going to shoot a new episode for the pilot, it has a brand new script and everything, however it’s going to have the same events as the backdoor pilot, but it will be from Elijah’s point of view instead. It is also going to give some backstory and mythology on the originals so the new viewers will understand.

  • CrimTV

    @Alan

    Or aired The 100 in the fall instead of Reign
