Happy September! The new fall TV season will be here soon, and it's not to early to think about managing your DVRs.

Anything that's been announced that I missed, please let me know and I'll add it to the list.  If you see any errors, let me know about those too.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!

If you'd like to see the night by night broadcast schedule grids including new and returning shows click here.

Super excited about the new fall schedule!!! And unlike all of you I refuse to drop anything! Instead I just ordered the x1 box from xfinity! They’re still working out the kinks but recording four and still watching one at the same time added to this new fall lineup means never having to sacrifice a show to the DVR master!!!! Bring it on!!!
    ????

  • Networkman

There have been alot of promotion for The Millers this Summer. But the more I watch the clips, the more I’m starting to dislike the show. Mom is starting to look like CBS strongest new comedy. And I must admit that I’m really starting to look forward to watching Hostages.

During Animation Domination High Def, FOX showed extended clips of their new shows. Almost Human looks really good. I’m really anticipating that show along with the comedy Enlisted. The characters on this show look hilarious.

Top 5 New Dramas I’m anticipating this upcoming season
    1. Resurrection (ABC)
    2. Almost Human (FOX)
    3. Once Upon a Time in Wonderland (ABC)
    4. Sleepy Hollow (FOX)
    5. Hostages (CBS)

Top 5 New Comedies I’m anticipating this upcoming season
    1. Michael J. FOX (NBC)
    2. Brooklyn Nine-Nine (FOX)
    3. Enlisted (FOX)
    4. Super Fun Night (ABC)
    5. The Goldbergs (ABC)

FOX and ABC have the most shows that are interesting this upcoming season.

  • JoeHamm

Another one I’d forgotten to mention: Wander Over Yonder (Disney, 9/13, 9:00 PM).

  • Colin

Idk what I’m dropping, but I’m recording like 90% of the new broadcast shows to check em out. Btw, where’s The Neighbors premiere date?

  • Mike

    You are missing Top Chef…Bravo…Oct.2nd…10pm/e

  • http://tvbythenumbers.com Robert Seidman

@Mike: thanks, it will be in the next update. @JoeHamm: I think I didn’t include it because it was sneak previewed in August, but I’ll get it in the next update too. @Colin it’s in the list (9/20) but I have it listed as “Neighbors, The” rather than “The Neighbors” if you search just on “Neighbors” you’ll find it…

    @ Justin 121

    Who agrees/disagrees and why

I agree with most of your predictions except The Crazy Ones, The Millers, The Neighbors and Beauty and the Beast.

    - The Crazy Ones is one of the most anticipated comedy this season and it’ll get high ratings (probably 3.8-4.5 for its premiere considering it will air after The Big Bang Theory).

    - The Millers looks good. Of course it won’t get a full season order (I expect 16-18 episodes). Considering next season will be the last for HIMYM and probably Two and a Half Men, The Millers has chances to be Renewed.

    - The Neighbors won’t be canceled because ABC probably wants it to get a syndication deal. Plus it was Renewed for 22 episodes so it’ll need two more seasons.

    - Beauty and the Beast will be canceled but it will air its 22 episodes. CW will cancel Beauty and the Beast, Nikita, The Carrie Diaries, Reign, The 100 and Star-Crossed. Hart of Dixie will move to Friday at 8 for its final season.

“The Neighbors won’t be canceled because ABC probably wants it to get a syndication deal. Plus it was Renewed for 22 episodes so it’ll need two more seasons.”

ABC got rid of Happy Endings & Cougar Town which were both closer to syndication. Why would they stick with The Neighbors if it fails on Friday?

  • omabin

I think I am a crazy person due to the amount of shows I watch but coming here and see people’s lists make me feel less bad.

New Shows I Will Watch Almost For Sure:
    Almost Human
    The Tomorrow People
    OUAT Wonderland

New Shows I Will Sample and decide depending on how I like them and ratings:
    Shield
    Sleepy Hollow
    Blacklist
    Dracula
    Maybe Hostages
    Most likely The Originals

    Returning Shows – Dramas
    The Walking Dead
    Homeland
    American Horror Story
    Scandal
    Revenge
    Grey’s Anatomy
    OUAT
    Revolution
    Grimm
    The Good Wife
    H50
    Person of Interest
    The Vampire Diaries
    Arrow
    Nikita
Most likely Bones and Castle but only later on in the summer as that is what I have been doing the last couple of years with most of their seasons

    Returning Comedies
    The Big Bang Theory
    How I Met Your Mother
    Modern Family
    New Girl
    Maybe The Neighbors, not sure

Will Sample for sure The Millers and Trophy Wife. Depending on the ratings/reviews, I may sample a lot of the others – I have a problem with deciding on the comedies based on the trailers. I also find them a lot harder to predict than dramas when it comes to whether or not they will succeed.

  • TV Addict

I just got Hulu plus so now I can watch a lot of stuff in the summer, so I’m pretty pumped.

  • Annie

    ABC:
    SHIELD (22 episodes)-renewed
The Goldbergs( 11episodes and done) – canceled and replaced by subergatory
Trophy Wife(22 episodes)-renewed but moved to Wednesday next season
Lucky 7(11 eps and done)-replaced by Mind Games
Back in the Game (22 eps and renewed)
Super Fun Night (7 eps and canceled)-replaced by Mixology mid-season
Once Upon a Time in Wonderland (15 eps and done)-kept as a mini-series and new Once mini-series next season.
Betrayl (13 and done)- canceled (Resurrection replaces mid-season)

  • erwanfromfrance

I think that you are wrong about The Neighbors. I think that it will have horrible ratings on Fridays, get its episode number deducted from 22 to 13, and be canceled.
I also disagree with you about The Millers. I expect that show will be a failure very quickly. I think that if this is the final season of Two and a Half Men, then CBS will go back down to 3 hours of comedy instead of 4. They will have four returning comedies (Mom, We Are Men, 2 Broke Girls, The Big Bang Theory) and two new comedies, with Mom moving to 8:00 and new comedies Tuesday at 9:30 and Thursday at 8:30. One of the new comedies will be canceled and replaced by another new comedy. In May 2015, We Are Men and one of the two new comedies not-yet-canceled will be canceled, and the following season will be very similar with three hours of comedy and two new comedies.
I do agree with you though about The CW, expect I think that The 100 will be renewed, and that The Tomorrow People will be canceled.

I think four hours of comedy is good for CBS. Their comedies are high rated so why not ? If CBS cancels The Good Wife and The Mentalist next season they could keep their four hours of Comedy and premiere three new dramas in the fall.

    This is what I think:

    MONDAY
    8:00 – The Millers
    8:30 – NEW COMEDY
    9:00 – 2 Broke Girls
    9:30 – Mom
    10:00 – NEW DRAMA

    THURSDAY
8:00 – The Big Bang Theory
    8:30 – NEW COMEDY
    9:00 – The Crazy Ones
    9:30 – NEW COMEDY
10:00 – Elementary or NEW DRAMA

    Mid-season: Mike & Molly
