    @Mike

That is the one thing I was wondering. I don’t mind the mob aspect of GH as I feel it has always been part of the GH landscape from the Frank Smith days to the Jerome family to Sonny Corinthos. However it was the late 90s through most of the 2000′s that the focus was all the mob. I didn’t like the show being all mob like it was in the 2000s.

As long as the Jerome family keeps it interesting I think people will watch but I was also surprised at people being happy about the Jerome family considering so many had complained about the mob always being the focus

  • Bex

Of course Sean is free to troll, it’s a public message board, who’s going to stop him? However, don’t come here with your showboat antics telling the perceived haters to piss off, while you’ve been hiding like a coward for weeks.

Fans like him are the reason GH remains the bottom feeder it is. If something isn’t being blown up, or someone being shot then the show is considered boring and the fans tune out.

If you hide like a coward when ratings show less than stellar numbers for your show, then you deserve to be labeled as nothing more than a silly troll. I doubt anyone apart from the few free speech complainers believe that Sean really post here because he’s excited about GH.

Telling the ‘haters’ to take that can be considered baiting! I don’t see any B&B or Y&R fans acting in such a manner.

  • Joe S

@Bex nowhere in his post did Sean say to piss off. He said haters take that. He never mentioned anyone by name just a general comment.

You however chose to personally attack him for choosing not to come here when there is nothing positive to say. Some people prefer not to be negative.

I really wish the people running this site would step up and put a stop to the constant bashing back and forth. Both from the GH fans and the non GH fans alike. It really makes this place look sad and unprofessional as a result.

Moving on @ Mike, JayTN, Jonboy, Deshawn, and a few others how do you think the Time Warner dropping CBS due to the contract dispute will affect the CBS soaps

  • Bex

Please do spare me with the general comment argument, who do you think he was referring to? Those of of us who detest GH, who like to point out how it’s numbers continued to drop.

You may wish to keep your head in the sand all you like, but his comment was an attempt to bait, and he got exactly what he wanted.

Yes, please do move on! Nothing worst than some self appointed forum cop.
Stick to the issues that you want to discuss and bypass those which so evidently are beneath you.

  • Mike

ON the Time Warner thing, I was afraid it might hurt all the CBS shows badly but looking at Sunday nights ratings it didn’t have much effect on the shows at all.

Big Brother was only down by 4% but it was already dropping even before the dispute.

I figure if it is not effecting the prime time shows that great I doubt it will effect the daytime shows that badly either.

  • Chrisann D

I agree with Joe. So what if someone chooses to come on here when the ratings are up for a show they like and not when ratings are down…..why dwell on it and really who really cares????
Liking Days, GH and Y&R. B&B to me has too much focus on Liam and Hope. But I would love to see all the soaps have better rating to insure they stay on the air. Go Soaps!!

  • Bex

There is a difference between avoiding the boards when your show is doing poorly, and showing up to bait members when your show has marginal success. Sean and his posts are reminiscent of another GH fan who ran around touting GH talking points. At least he had the balls to try to defend his show when it was doing poorly. The comments about GH being solid as a rock is the same comment posted on SON under a different username. Same verbatim. Sorry that’s a troll.

  • Nick

Just to be clear, I have no problem with anyone coming on here to rationally state that they like a certain soap, why they do, and to thoughtfully comment about ratings trends and what they mean. However, when a show like GH has even a miniscule increase, it’s a major turn-off to me personally to see someone like Sean pop on to scream and boast about how wonderful GH is, that the ratings are solid (when most of us know better), and to shout to anyone who disagrees with him to take a hike (very uncalled for). That would be insufferable enough if the show had blockbuster ratings. But to come across like that for GH, which had been tanking for a couple of months, still is not everyone’s cup of tea, still does not have great numbers, and is fighting to stay on the air long-term, it makes Sean look like a complete fool. Here’s a thought- Try to be humble, man.

It reminds me a lot of fair-weather sports fans who are silent and can’t be heard anywhere when their team is constantly losing and having a bad season(s) but come out of the woodwork and are rabid only when their team has at least a modest, little winning streak to interrupt the losing. Why not come out and voice support and/or concern all the time if you’re a true fan?

  • Joe S

@Nick the point being it is a message board it is his right to shout and scream about the GH ratings increase even if it is the smallest.

As to the point someone one made about it was a bait. Well it is only bait when people respond to it and turn it into a back and forth attack. Like I said I really wish the people in charge of this site would be a bit more strict with the things that allowed here. All the personal attacks and bashing just ruin the discussions and opinions that everyone is allowed to have.

@Mike wow it had little effect on Big Brother so Id imagine then it wont have on the CBS soaps which are a good thing. I thought it would hurt prime time even worse. I wonder how it affected the big golf match over the weekend.

  • Bex

If you have such a huge problem with the website moderation then why don’t you just leave? No one is forcing you to come here everyday and read such detestable comments from the low lifes.

Sean has a right to bait, however we should just turn our heads? If you have children you need to go and discipline them, and stop trying to dictate discussion on a public message board. You are NOT a moderator, or any sort of forum leader here. Stick to chatting with Mike, JayTN, Jonboy, Deshawn, and whoever else is worthy of your thought-provoking banter over numbers.

I’m pretty sure calling someone a troll isn’t that high on the internet etiquette list. If you’re so sensitive to such ‘attacks’ then you should really stick to images of kittens, and feel good stories that interest you.

  • Tim

I’d like to know who Joe S is referring to,all the Vets on “DAYS” are gone…Victor,Maggie,Stefano,Carol Brady,Abe,Roman, john & Marlena….are still on days, not everyday but they are still on….I hope you were not referring to Alice & Tom cause they died in real life years ago…Tim…

  • JayTN

Joe S…my only comment on the whole “Sean controversy” is to have no comment. ;-) I tend to take his posts with a grain of salt. If Sean is a troll, then ranting and raving about him only plays into his game, does it not?

To answer your question about the Time Warner Cable/CBS argument, I don’t think it will have a big impact on the soap ratings. The ratings for primetime on Friday, Saturday and Sunday were largely the same, with a small decline. The declines on Sunday (“Big Brother” was actually even with last Sunday in the 18-49 demographic – it was adjusted up to a 2.3 rating in the finals – and only down 30,000 viewers) could be attributed to the NFL game on NBC. The real test will be tomorrow to see how “Under the Dome” performs when the ratings come out. If “Dome” pulls similar (or better) numbers than last week, it will only cement my opinion that the CBS soaps will likely see no ill effects from being blacked out on Time Warner Cable in NYC, LA, Dallas and a few other smaller markets.

  • JayTN

Joe S…I know it’s a little off topic, but the World Golf Bridgestone Invitational on Sunday was up 150% in total viewers, up 300% in viewers 25-54 and up 110% in households compared to last year. These numbers are from a CBS press release talking about the Time Warner blackout, so I don’t know if they only represent the blacked out affiliates or if the numbers apply to the network as a whole.

It has been widely reported that Drake Hogestyn (John) has not taped any shows for Days since mid-March and his last scenes were the July 17th episode. He has been dropped from his contract also.

Drake Hogestyn has even been on his Twitter account rallying support to get him back on Days.

Also dropped from contract status was Bryan Dattilo (lucas).

People need to think differently. Soaps are on 5 days a week, 20-21 times a month. It is extremely hard for the writers to keep things interesting day to day, week to week, … So, one days’ ratings might be an increase or decrease for what ever reason. They are then averaged, so this could also effect the week to week ratings. They are produced extremely fast and have lower budgets then primetime. They are a business people come and people go. Days has been really good lately, but there was a slow week for me personally 2 weeks back. It now is picking up again. Eileen Davidson is leaving Days, WHY? To go back to Y&R? Now that is ridiculous. On Y&R she seems stiff no spark. She seems to be at her best when she is Kristen. However, if she does go, Days will survive. OK I can accept Peter Reckell going to GH, he has played Bo Brady for a very long time, maybe it is time ,he try another character. Don’t kill Bo off, bring Robert Kelker-Kelly back as Bo, he played Bo for some time years back. That would bring Hope back into the spotlight. I did not know that the other soaps had gay characters on them. I thought Days was the only progressive one. Can someone tell me if the gay characters on GH are 2 males or females, what are their character’s name a give me their characters’ background. Maybe I will tune in to GH to see their characters and get to know them. Days has a great thing going with Sonny and Will. Nothing has been done like this in primetime or anywhere else. The actors playing Will and Sonny seem to have a great relationship on set. Chandler wants to go back to school, good for him, Days will survive. Keep it up DAYS and NBC.

  • cab

I recently watched an episode of B&B. They obviously have a higher budget than some soaps. The opening sequence is classy. They have outside scenes taped. I watched Laura Lee Bell and her assistant talk about another character, and we got to see the outside of the building that they were talking in. I watched for 3 days, and these two characters were still talking about someone. That is the Y&R, and B&B tradition too slow for me. But you can tell the budget for this show is still generous.

  • Joe S

JAYTN I agree that was the point I was trying to make let him say what he wants. Some people by bickering back and forth with him just play into the game and give him what he most likely wants.

Interesting that not being on in those big markets has not hurt CBS ratings.

I am a bit confused today. I know John Reilly who played Sean Donnelly said he was not returning. However I am reading that yesterdays GH ended with a discovery of him being involved in Luke’s search for Jerry Jakks. Does anyone know is he indeed returning?

And the vets are disappearing from Days as Mike said Drake Hogestyn has been let go as have a lot of others.

  • Bex

No one was ranting and raving about Sean until a few oversensitive people decided that his civil liberties were some how being violated. I called him out for calling people haters because his show grew by a small margin. Nick addressed the issue of the fair-weathered GH fans, and challenge his ridiculous idea that GH was solid as a rock.

Sean is NOT here, and has not posted here since last week, so there is no back forth, so please stop seeing things that ARE NOT there. The bickering only started after certain people decided to make it there business to defend a common troll. Calling someone a troll is not the same as attacking someone over their medical condition, or calling another the C word.

This is the internet, and people need to realize that there are going to be things that you won’t find agreeable. Can’t handle it? Then get off!

I guess if vets are disappearing from days mean lower ratings as is any show days needs marlena roman john hope adriann Justin kayla with out them the show is dead nbc cancel it now. im so sick of the sammi show its called days of are lives not the sammi show . it the same thing gh did with the sonny carly and Jason show fans got sick of it and left same crap over and over.it called general hospital not the carly sonny show. yesterdays gh was great lucy scott monica tracy kevin holly luke alexis like the new Julian Jerome. only thing bad about gh yesterday was franco didn’t need him roger go back to oltl and stay your a great todd continue playing him.great to see sean donley at end of gh yesterday hope it means his return and I hope the great Sharon wyatt returns with him I know she was having medical problem god bless her.gh dos the right thing in using the vets the show is boring when there not on. I don’t turn in when the vets arnt there its one big bor fest. Julian needs to bring lucas back to port Charles along with bobbi.

  • Joe S

This will be my one and final response to Bex. You honestly are all the things you accuse Sean of being. You resort to name calling and the only time you respond to a post on here is when someone says something positive about GH. And that response is always to throw insults at them. That is your right but it is pretty immature in my book. I have emailed the people who run the site about the constant bashing and bickering here to see if they can come up with a better system that would make things far better here and keep people to discuss the shows and their ratings and not having over 1/3 of the posts of people insulting each other back and forth.

I am hearing mixed reports. Some say Sean Donnely is returning others are saying he is not so who knows what is going on with that. If his return is handled right, it could possibly get me to watch GH on a regular basis again, but just don’t think the current writing team will do anything good for his character.
