HISTORY’S NEW SERIES PREMIERE

THE LEGEND OF SHELBY THE SWAMP MAN GARNERS 3.2 MILLION TOTAL VIEWERS

#1 Non-Fiction Series for the Night
HISTORY Takes #1 in Cable in 10-11 p.m. Timeslot

NEW YORK, August 7, 2013 – Off the heels of HISTORY’s hit show Ax Men, the series premiere of THE LEGEND OF SHELBY THE SWAMP MAN on Monday night averaged 3.2 million total viewers, 1.6 million Adults 25-54 and 1.5 million Adults 18-49 in the 10-11 p.m. timeslot.  The series propelled HISTORY to #1 in all of cable in the 10 – 11 p.m. time period among total viewers.

For the past four seasons, viewers of HISTORY’s hit series Ax Men followed the exploits of Shelby “Swamp Man” Stanga, the larger-than-life character who lives and logs in southern Louisiana. Born on the bayou, Shelby answers to no one and plays by his own rules. Most people think of the swamps as a place ridden with critters, mud and danger. For Shelby, it’s home. Now, viewers will get to see what this legend of the Atchafalaya Swamp does to survive when he’s not diving for sinker cypress in gator-infested waters in THE LEGEND OF SHELBY THE SWAMP MAN, a new series airing Tuesdays at 10pm ET on HISTORY.

THE LEGEND OF SHELBY THE SWAMP MAN is produced for HISTORY by Original Productions. Matt Ginsburg is Executive Producer for HISTORY. Executive Producers for Original Productions are Thom Beers, Philip D. Segal, Jeff Conroy and Sarah Whalen.  Co-Executive Producer is Michelle Niland.

Seriously? This got more viewers than The Newsroom?

  • Jon

What’s the deal with all the swamp shows?

  • ParkerWyeth

    @Jon
Not sure what the attraction is, but the Atchafalaya(uh-chaff-fuh-lie-yuh) Basin is beautiful. It’s the largest wetland in the U.S. and the world’s largest freshwater river basin.

  • Ray

This is a wild guess, but I’d say Joethehobo didn’t watch the show.

  • Cody

What the hell is this crap? A guy is being paid to destroy stuff and be a loud and obnoxious buffoon? Where’s my paycheck?!

  • Ray R

I was not gonna watch the show but it is a very entertaining show worth watching atleast 30 minutes to give it your own opinion

  • dave

This show rocks. Porters ridge is prob. The worst so called reality show on tv.

  • NJL

This show is great. It reached the number one viewer watched show immediately. This show will compete for a very long time.
    Go Shelby Go.
