Update: Here is Lifetime's press release:

Network Renews MARC CHERRY and EVA LONGORIA’S Hit Drama DEVIOUS MAIDS for Second Season with 13 Episode Order

LOS ANGELES (August 13, 2013) – Lifetime and its viewers are going to get even more Devious next year.  The network has renewed for a second season its hit drama Devious Maids (#DeviousMaids), starring Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramírez, Roselyn Sánchez, Edy Ganem and Judy Reyes, with a 13 episode order, it was announced today by Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Lifetime.  Devious Maids is produced by ABC Studios.

Since its premiere on June 23, nearly 23 million viewers have watched Devious Maids on Lifetime.  It is the network’s fastest-growing drama ever, and has catapulted Lifetime to cable’s number one network in the Sunday 10:00pm ET/PT time slot among Women.  Its 18% Hispanic composition nearly doubles Lifetime’s primetime average.

“One of the most daring series on television, Devious Maids has quickly become a hit.  We are very proud of the show and are delighted to continue our partnership with Marc Cherry, Eva Longoria, Sabrina Wind, ABC Studios and Televisa USA.   I am thrilled we are bringing Devious Maids back for a second season to lead our scripted slate in 2014,” said Sharenow.

“ABC Studios has had a great partnership with Lifetime and Televisa and we’re looking forward to another terrific season with Marc Cherry and his talented cast and crew,” said Stephanie Leifer, Senior Vice President, Current Programming, ABC Studios.

Devious Maids centers on a close-knit group of maids (Ortiz, Ramírez, Sánchez, Ganem and Reyes), bonded together by their jobs, life struggles and boss’ melodramatic “upstairs-downstairs” universe, that turns to one another for support after a fellow maid Flora (Paula Garcés) is brutally murdered at the home of her employers.  Devious Maids also stars Susan Lucci, Rebecca Wisocky, Tom Irwin, Mariana Klaveno, Grant Show, Matt Cedeño, Melinda Page Hamilton, Drew Van Acker, Brianna Brown and Brett Cullen.

Inspired by the hit telenovela, Ellas son la Alegría del Hogar, Devious Maids is produced by ABC Studios.  The series was created by Marc Cherry and is executive produced by Cherry, Sabrina Wind, Eva Longoria, Paul McGuigan, Larry Shuman, David Lonner, John Mass and Televisa USA’s Paul Presburger and Michael Garcia.

    So happy!!! Love this show one, of my favorites. Only wish they would of scheduled more shows……

  • Bob

    Great News! Now if only a miracle could occur and Army Wives is renewed!

  • marcos

    @James C.

    but client list from the same network have 15 episodes

  • SJ

    Sweet. It’s a nice little summer show and I like all the leads.

    @John A

    Lifetime wants The Client List renewed. But the issue is that Jennifer Love Hewitt, who also produces the show, wants her off-screen boyfriend (who happens to play her on-screen husband) to have a bigger role in the show next season, which the Lifetime brass don’t want. And given that she’s pregnant, don’t expect a new season by at least June 2014 – if it’s even renewed.

  • Croq

    Great news, I love this show!

  • gerry

    this show has really grown on me, glad to see it got it’s renewal (even though it was a lock). it’s doing well enough for the network, i’m surprised they didn’t kick it up to 18..

  • david

    now i hope lifetime announce what is going on with The Client List next
    taking too long due to Jennifer’s love hewitt’s conflicts regarding who should be her character’s baby daddy next season.

  • Ash

    This is good news but the viewership should be higher and I hope it tops 3 million by the tenth episode better yet 3.5 mil! The actress who plays Genevieve is excellent. Funny yet has amazing chemistry with Zoila, Remi and Valentina. She’s a little skinny but she she really steals the scenes. I know Zoila is from Scrubs but it is great that they can find a no name actress who has such presence. She doesn’t look like she is in her 50′s as well. LOL

  • maeva

    yes I want to see more of remi and valentina
