NBC BROADCAST POSTS BEST DEMO DELIVERIES AND ADVANTAGES OVER ABC AND CBS IN FOUR WEEKS

AUGUST 13, 2013 – “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” continued as America’s most-watched network evening newscast for the week ending August 9, 2013, according to Nielsen Media Research data. Nightly has won in total viewers for 204 consecutive weeks, and in 251 of the past 252 weeks.

Weekly Highlights:

· Nightly delivered 7.591 million total viewers, +518,000 more than ABC World News’ 7.073 million and +1,857,000 more than CBS Evening News’ 5.734 million.
· Nightly averaged a 5.3/11 Household rating, ahead of ABC’s 4.8/10 and CBS’ 3.9/8.
· This marks Nightly’s best total viewer delivery in three weeks (since the week of 7/15/13).
· Nightly delivered a 1.7 A25-54 rating, +2 tenths more than ABC’s 1.5 rating and +5 tenths more than CBS’s 1.2 rating.
· Among A25-54 (000), Nightly averaged 2.007 million viewers, +246,000 ahead of World News’ 1.761 million, and +608,000 ahead of Evening News’ 1.399 million.
· Nightly also posted its best A25-54 rating and A25-54 viewer deliveries and advantages over ABC and CBS in four weeks (since the week of 7/8/13).

Trends:

· Week-to-week, Nightly posted growth in total viewers (+1%, or +101,000), and +1 tenth in all 25-54 demos.
· Nightly has won in total viewers for 204 consecutive weeks, and in 251 of the past 252 weeks.
· Nightly has won in viewers A25-54 for 245 of the past 246 weeks.
· Season-to-date, Nightly leads World News by +758,000 total viewers, and by +286,000 Adult 25-54 viewers (+2 tenths).

NOTE: The comparable week in 2012 included the second full week of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
