Emmy Award Winner Cooper Passed Away In May 2013

Cooper Starred on Y&R For Almost 40 Years

THE YOUNG AND The Restless will honor the memory of its late matriarch, television icon Jeanne Cooper, with the passing of her beloved character, Katherine Chancellor, in a series of episodes beginning Friday, August 16 (12:30-1:30 PM, ET; 11:00 AM-12:00 Noon, PT) on the CBS Television Network.  As the multi-episode tribute begins, Katherine’s loved ones are sent postcards asking them to gather at the Chancellor Estate, where they learn that their dear friend and family member passed away while on vacation with her husband, Murphy (Michael Fairman).

“In the coming weeks, Katherine’s memory will be honored in several very special ways that allow us to pay tribute to Jeanne in the remarkable manner she deserves,” said Y&R Executive Producer Jill Farren Phelps. “It is an extraordinary story that will bring the residents of Genoa City together to remember this woman they all loved.”

Cooper, the Emmy Award-winning actress who portrayed Katherine Chancellor for almost 40 years, was the show’s longest-running cast member before her death in May.

The very first time I saw Y&R. Katherine was on this raft with a young handsome man. Had no ideal who they were are what they were doing, But have been watching the show ever since. I will miss her very much. Loved her in everything she ever acted in.
